Hello, it is a very useful video thank you. May I ask, which kind of material are the stockinette and the cast padding made of? they are made up of a different material, aren't they? Thank you

Should have used a 3" roll for better coverage. Also, please remember to always overlap 50%. This is NOT a good educational video. Uneven padding, ankle not at 90 degrees, casting not overlapped properly. This coming from a cast tech/ Ortho Tech of 12 years.

NO. Casting, splinting and other related skills are Orthopedic Technologist training and should be by a trained individual. Don,t be fooled by those who try to simplify something that takes years to properly do. Also please use casting scissors as to not cut patients with fragile skin. Such as patients on a prolonged period of certain medications such as prednisone. And please realize that the person who is demonstrating although having the best intention is truly not qualified to teach these skills. There are many things not mentioned that will hurt your patient if not taught properly. SAD stick to what you know.

See the thing about casting that is dangerous is that from the outside it may look fine but inside it is not..

The point is that a Cast,Halo or in some cases the brace should be applied only by those who totally understand the concept and problems that can occur. A medical assistant simply does not have the exposure and training to do this. Are there exceptions? Sure. But to put this forward as a skill that is a part of their training is irresponsible. If you have never seen Volksman ischemic contracture or compartment pressure as commonly called. You should.

In my opinion only a doctor should do this. They train and study for years not a few months. Seems to me pretty soon this country will not have doctors just people who think they are because they took an on line class and test.

A cast??? It's not rocket science or surgery. Plus, they check it after we apply it.
