Putin is a "Small Pathetic Man" Who Needs More Wars to Survive

American-born businessman Bill Browder, author of the Magnitsky Act that has been sanctioning Russian officials in 2016, has also authored two best-selling books: Red Notice and Freezing Order.
Pulling no punches, Browder explains the "psychopathy" and "depravity" that make up the character of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. What motivates the Russian autocrat? Browder argues that "Putin is a little man, who has stolen too much money, who is terrified of losing power. If he loses power he will go to jail, lose his money, and die. So you've this little money who is scared of losing his life. So what [does Putin] do?" He creates "a foreign enemy. That is what the Ukrainian invasion is all about."
Browder warns that despite heroic efforts: Ukraine can still lose the war if the West backs away from its commitments to the besieged nation. What would come next? Browder argues that Putin cannot back down or not begin an invasion of Europe: Putin's ability to survive, having stolen hundreds of billions from his own people, depends on him being able to portray himself as a war president keeping his nation safe.
Browder's gripping interview lays bare how sick the Putin Regime really is while highlighting the clear-and-present threat it poses to the collective West.

Bill Browder continues to put his life and that of his family for continuing his own struggle to defend democracy and the rule of law; it's a pity the financial establishment especially in London/Londongrad ignored his warnings for years until the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 24/02/2022 when they had to protest their complicity in supporting Pootin and his oligarchs.

Trump does not "admire Putin" now. He spoke ironically of how clever Putin was to steal Crimea and half of Donbas from under Obama's nose for "a dime's worth of sanctions." Publicly he buttered Putin up, hoping to be able to reach a deal for the US that would improve things for both nations. Trump was not able to match, in ruzzia, his success with the Abraham Accords. But Trump was able to keep Putin at bay for four years by warning Putin privately of severe consequences if he invaded Ukraine. Now that Putin has finally shown his hand, Trump has stoutly denounced the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. But you don't know that, because the corporate media refuse to report Trump's denunciation of the invasion.

I agree that the refusal of the Obama/Biden Administration to own up to the duties of the US under the Budapest Memorandum is a stain on the US. However, the UK was ALSO a signatory to the Budapest Memorandum. Pray tell, what did Britain do in 2014 in fulfillment of its solemn promise to "protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine"? That said, Britain does deserve major credit for stepping up immediately and forcefully once Putin launched his full scale invasion. Boris Johnson basically shamed Joe Biden into aiding Ukraine militarily - far beyond blankets and MREs a la 2014, but still not remotely as much as what we should and could have done.

Everything Mr Browder says in this small interview is spot on. But he left out one thing about the way Putin operates because of what shaped him when young. While working In East Germany for the KGB, he saw how controlling the Stasi were and how they operated. After the wall came down, Stasi records were opened up, and revealed that every third person was an informer, neighbours, family members, all were denounced, and that is what Putin has happening now in Russia. Anyone posing any kind of problem faces the full force of State repression. He has forced people like Lavrov who had retired back, to be his international mouthpiece. The west is used to him towing Putin's line, whether he likes it or not.

Ive watched a million interviews about Ukraine since 2022. But I've never once seen a video of someone explaining what America and NATOS original plan was just before Feb 2022. American intelligence said Russia was for sure invading, and their intelligence also said Ukraine would fail quickly. So what was the plan then? America and NATO countries were just Ok with Russia enveloping Ukraine- taking its land, it's resrouces and it's people - and moving them to the other side of many NATO countries border. What was the plan? I really don't understand how any country thought it was a reality that Ukraine could fall to Russia, and NATO countries beside them would be OK. Can someone explain America and NATOS thinking back then...

This did not happen under Bush or Trump - for a reason. It started in 2014, after Obama gave Putler a green light to seize Crimea. "Tell Vlad that I can give him more flexibility after the election," said Obama, when he didn't realize that he was on an open mic. Obama mainly wanted to suck up to Putler so that he could feel grown up like a big boy on the international scene even if he didn't know how to pronounce "corps" or what the "Austrian language" was. As for Biden, he "has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” That's per former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, in his book "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War." Had it not been for Boris Johnson shaming Biden into doing SOMETHING (though far too little) for Ukraine, Ukraine would have been crushed.

Together we constitute close to a billion people, and make 70% of world GDP. Russians make maybe 1.5%, but now with loss of gas and oil sales and downfall of their weapons, even less.
