What are the dimensions on your 5'8"? And have you ever tried an epoxy in that same design for super weak waves or even fresh water waves like surf ranch where there is less bouyancy? Love the videos

❤ wow, that last comment i left might be the longest comment ive ever written. even i am not going to read that, to see what i said :) so wordy. mr misses wordy wordsworth wordsmithington the third :) anyway, the board walkthrough is excellent and always interesting :) the medical conversation was interesting, and a reminder to take care and realize that people like lakey and other pros are actually professional athletes pushing extremes and taking big risks, and hopefully have extensive support to treat continued strain, and that average or less than average lil wave riders should probably take good care and be 'reasonable' and 'sensible'. Speaking of which, firstly, i had a brief moment of steep fast hollow shore break where i finally got a lil opportunity to experience just how knifey and performative and beautifully responsive rooks are. conversely, i also had the 'opportunity' to take some straight full body laying drops on some sizeable closeout sets, thankfully keeping the board from endoing, before being engulfed and annihilated by explosive white water, even when just trying to go straight. super fun :) that said, im protective of the rook, which should be preserved, and has already been nicked on the center fin from shallow beach rocks, and am thinking about a pure foam board, or 2, that can take about as much abuse as possible (ie- pitched onto sandblasting shallow shorebreak, over the falls on late tempted wave withdrawals (prefer to avid that), pounded in closeouts, and ridden all the way up to fins on the beach, if successful, and more. you know the drill. basically the ability to paddle out and into pretty much every unrideable 'ugly' break possible that no one else wants a part of, while still getting some 'good' exciting drops and rides and tubes, maybe even with an eventual gopro or cheapie generic imitation, to get some nice viddage to add a goth soundtrack to :).that, or, the proper 6'6" CI, either happy traveler or CI 2 pro, and be more 'sensible and only paddle when the waves are, as often, less that perfect or, maybe both. if channel islands has a literal dumpster full of damaged discarded boards that can slop make do unfinished patch jobs to do similarly, that might as well be an option, even though the foam seems better to potentially take to the noggin on some radical shallow shore break closeouts. anyway, just a thought or two. i like the idea of totally hideous, yet super fun, surf without stress for trying to find the 'best' = usually absurdly crowded), wave, taking time and effort, rather than pulling up, suiting up, and ripping sh*t up, including not even standing up if its a difficult days (drops with long belly rides are actually fun, especially with ones face mere inches from racing water surface, regardless, and getting to simply enjoy thoroughly no matter what, no stress :) you know what? this comment is yet again so long. ugh. im outtie :)

❤ this is such a great video. lots cool tech talk. nuts and bolts and stuff :) firstly, tom tom is a hero for taking such good care of lakey, as well as an aussie style power surfer, and treating others to keep them fit. secondly, i am happy to see you getting your boards dialed in, lakey i am guessing you are really focused in on specifics of what you are riding and need, so this is in no way to disrupt or cast doubt or disparage what you have presented in this video. i will only say that i just watched the hawaii and mexico 2019 videos and whatever boards you are riding in them are a very good looking formula and specs, specifically regarding length ( they appear to be on the longer end of the spectrum, with adequate nose and length) and thickness, float, drive, and maneuverability. the solid pink deck with white rails, and a white board with yellowish orange (i think) ci logo at the nose, are two boards that look so responsive under your feet, agile, able to handle and transfer your powerful explosive maneuvers, and also seem to accommodate on waves with lots of foam, serious sizable sections, and leas than pocket perfect steep waves, and allow you to ride top to bottom on every area, including the critical pocket and lip areas, to land and succeed with maneuvers, and drive around sections and lots of foam, with continued float and momentum. the length and nose length look super solid and able to withstand and support your power in critical areas. hopefully the longer boards in this quiver will do similarly, if not better, and i encourage you to feel confident that you have such power and strength that all the maneuvers you seek to pull are accomplishable with the longer lengths, especially with exquisite CI blade shapes, in bigger, choppy, sectioning, or less than absolutely perfect pocket steep waves :)
