We need to keep this campaign of us nurses speaking up. This is shame for all corporate. They still haven't learn that without a RN, they are nothing. You can have all disciplines but: Where's the Nurse? Who will deliver the care. Much RESPECT.

Thank you, this made me laugh! As a night shift nurse of 22 years, I honestly don’t know how I’m going to make it another 17-20 years until I can retire 🥴. Plus, the part about it being too late for the night shift regarding the pizza had me rolling! I’m tired of opening boxes and getting my hopes up, only to find nothing but a half eaten piece of crust inside. 😂

Day shift always gets the good stuff. We also grab and go, because we don't have but 5 minutes to wolf down a slice before we have 2 docs calling and 3 patients looking for pain meds.

Unit Secretary of 24 years here. I'm very sorry to tell my nurses and my brothers and sisters in healthcare that the easy week between Christmas and New Years no longer exists. No more magical phone calls putting us on call or cancelling our shift. The days of flexing off early are OVER. All because hospitals are bursting at the seems in patient census worse than an overstuffed belly after a holiday meal and the room availability is worse than the inns in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.

I’m an RN,but I started out as a Unit Secretary. I loved that job and as a nurse I love my UA’s.Thank you for all you do for us! Working nights, we often don’t have a UA after 11 pm so I was blessed to still be able to do some of those duties

After being a CNA for 12 years, I approve this message 👏🏼 Pick something else, UNLESS you REEEAAALLLYYYY WANT to do it. I'm sorry to say it, but it's rough out here. I am struggling as we speak! I'm mentally and physically breaking down before I can catch up on bills and life. Only to go back, do it again and still not have enough to eat something other that the broth and crackers in the snack cabinet....that I'm not supposed to eat 😉 God Bless all healthcare workers new and old. But 2024 bout to be different... Amen 🙌🏼

I left bedside nursing med surg after 20+ yrs. Leadership caused my burn out. I miss it and then see this and remember....NO I DON'T. I sleep through the night now.

I would have bought the amazing nurse who held my hand during surgery while delivering my youngest just a month ago, but she was 7 months pregnant herself. So an outstanding review of her to the hospitals patient relations and my insurance company was the best I had at the time.

I was a bedside Peds. Nurse for 35 years! I don't know how I did it. I'm now a school nurse; I love it and will NEVER go back. My 16 year old daughter wants to follow in my footsteps. I'm honest with her, she knows how hard I worked. This doesn't deter her! I wish her luck and encourage her not to stay with bedside nursing as long as I did. I warn her to join the pension immediately (no one told us this back then) so she can retire earlier than me. I have 5 more years to go!

I've been an RN for 24 years and am now doing home care and close to retirement ....best advice I can tell young people is to NOT go into nursing as a career in these times. It has declined as a career with stagnant wages, abusive working conditions and unsafe work environments ....the medical system is so broken and will soon collapse in my opinion. Try IT, PT, real estate sales/investing, online marketing, etc.....NOT nursing

I totally agree that the healthcare system is broken and nurses are dealing with a majority of the trouble in addition to the increase violence. As a past clinical/nursing instructor, I encouraged my students to speak up, be aware of the injustice, become part of the fix. Being informed goes a long ways in healthcare
