If it's not important enough for day shift to stay over a little, then it's not important for me to get up in the middle of the day between 2 shifts or stay an extra few hours or go home to return in a few hours. I won't be there. If they're REALLY so short staffed they need me to do like 11 straight shifts or can only accommodate 12 hour shifts, then firing for such an infraction just won't be an option. If it is? Then they didn't need me 11 straight or or need to demand 12s. It's a logic thing with me.

I went for my first of these meetings. It had been scheduled right after night shift and they literally stood at the elevator to usher ppl away from their cars. I’m in medschool and my best friend is in nursing school. We both go to classes during the day and do practice and volunteer during nightshift. Since I’m a first year and she’s a second year we spend most of the time with the nurses who are such an amazing and inspiring group of people. I’ve never seen so much compassion, understanding and patience in one person. They are always finding stuff to teach us, going out of their way to explain stuff or help us learn. Nurses are like the bones of the hospital. Nothing would move or stay up without them.

@@vetiverose128 just like what anyone says, either you love it or hate it...I don't think there's anything in between. It's not necessarily that we're less busy, it's just that it's more quiet with less people walking around, less noise so that means you're able to chart more effectively I believe. Don't get me wrong, we have some crazy patients too that sleeps all day and are awake all night that just goes crazy lol but for the most part, I like that there are less people: visitors, administration, rehab, etc. What I like the most is I can turn off the lights at the station so it isn't so damn bright.

@Cheyanne LaLiberte First off good on your parents because MY daughter is also a "Cheyenne." Just a little different spelling. And believe it or not, those shifts are usually readily available. I, also, worked the float pool. I got to work in peds, oncology, ortho, mother/baby, ED, etc. It's a rewarding career & if you work nights, make sure to take time out to take care of YOURSELF. On my last "day" of work, they threw me a party. There was a downs syndrome gentleman there. I didn't recognize him. He DID recognize me. He was 7 when his parents rushed him to our ED, for swallowing 2 gloves. As we were prepping him for surgery, I told him how handsome he was and that I was in love with him. That sweet man remembered that. 30 years SPENT WELL. CONGRATULATIONS and hold on, it's going to be a wild ride!

The staggering amount of ignorance and inconsiderate behavior from these sorts of positions is inexcusable. Night shift has been a significant aspect of our society for at least 100 years now. A complete lack of understanding of or consideration for shift workers is pretty inexcusable at this point. It's bad enough that society in general can't seem to be quiet for day sleep... for people fully aware of the work schedule to give no thought to dragging someone out of bed for training (that is often easily handled with a video), is ridiculous.

I’m not a nurse buy my SIL is, This is so funny to me but it helps me relate to the stuff she shares with me. Nurse Blake you are the funniest I’ve ever heard. Kudos to a beautiful person both in and out.

This was ON POINT. I worked intake at a mental health facility and I can identify at least one coworker for each scene. You've either worked it or heard enough stories to do an accurate portrayal

I am an 11-7 med tech and it’s always been my favorite shift. It takes a special person to completely flip days and nights and still be fun and cheerful! Love your videos!!!
