That thing is way cool. Sweet pickup power on those high lift blades. Good point on that flimsy cover and lack of weather stripping. Not really a commercial worthy rig but for Joe Homeowner that would be sufficient... on a dry day.

I've got the Recycler and Super Recycler 60V and their fine for the home. I thought of getting that Turfmaster but it's a tad more than I need, although my backyard is big enough that it would be nice to have the wider cut. For the commercial guys, having to transition to battery is going to be tough. I know a lot are using the battery powered hand tools, but to adopt e-mowers is going to require a hell of a lot of batteries. Or, they could run chargers off of their trucks via invertor/generator. But then what's the point of running cleaner mowers if you're just going to replace all that carbon savings with a petrol engine running to charge the batteries? It feels like we need one more advancement in battery tech to get a viable solution for long-term use. Imagine if those 3 batteries could store twice the energy in the same size? I think that would be the game changer.

@@mikeranfft6361 i run a 60V 22in recycler and it does pretty ok on a 8k²ft lawn space, i opted for a regular gas high lift blade for it which helped with the bagging issue, and i can get a full mow in with the 6AH battery it came with, personally i like electric mowers, dont smell like exhaust and are quiet. I use it mainly when my turf gets out if hand with for my reel lol which if its been a week it gets used. But ya everything i have is toro 60V minus my reel

I am a Solo operator. Small fry guy doing 7 properties a week. I have two Toro V60 mowers 21 inch SR and 22 inch recycler. Have 4 batteries 3 of the 7.5 ah and 1 6.0 ah. The 6.0 ah is having fade issues and only charging to 75 percent. Just ordered a 30 inch gas electric start Time Master from Home Depot. Got it for 1350 going to start using this to offset and save the batteries. Compared to the battery version of the home owner time master daved 1000 bucks and the future cost of the batteries would be 450 each. Thats buys alot of gas. I do love my current electric 60 volt mowers though.

Thanks for the info!! I started my lawn biz 7 years ago but now my city is forcing me to switch to electric. They gave me a $25,000 grant to help with the cost but I have researched for months and I just feel like electric is not the answer. I think electric blowers and trimmers are great but I would rather pay extra for lawnmowers to have emissions stuff on them so we can keep using our gas mowers. They could put a catalytic converter on lawnmowers and they would cost probably $600 more but I don't care as long as we can keep our gas mowers. Cut quality of electric is complete shit, not a professional cut!

Batteries like those need airflow to keep cool. If they get too warm, they will shut off. By sealing the top with weatherstripping, you run the risk of no or lesser cooling and even lesser run times in warmer weather.

I love you honesty when it comes to buying equipment to doing lawn care with industrial mowers compared to others you have tried. We all need to reduce our carbon footprint if we don't our generations ahead of us are going to suffer the consequences of our actions. Its always advisable to use batteries where possible but sometimes when you have many lawns you have to take care of sometimes there are more economical alternatives I would like to get a zero turn for the 11 acres i am about to take on, but a Kubota tractor mower gets the job done and i don't have enough extension cord to do it any other way for my electric push mower. or my weed wacker. Nice video. What kw rating is the mower? I have the 21" proline 60V at 2kw and it's just enough power, also has a regular gearbox so you need blade going to engage the drive. Looked like you had it in boost mode, that and high lift blades will drain battery, higher the blade sail the more drag it creates and drains battery, probably why it came with flat blades, but no good at collection. I reckon bigger batteries are coming for Toro and electronic gearboxes. Keep up the good work, hello from England.

I’m guessing the reason the self propel doesn’t operate w/o the blades on this one is because it still uses a pulley / belt drive from the electric motor shaft, same as the gas ones. Some of the smaller electric mowers, like the echo 56v I use, have an electric motor that turns the self propel independent from the blade, so you can engage that and have the mower go along without the blades if you want. I think the batt powered stuff is great for edgers / trimmers, but still has a ways to go for big backpack blowers and mowers. The only reason that echo mower works for me is I only push mow a couple of small backyards per week, and one small subdivision w 6 cookie cutter small yards. It does great for that but I wouldn’t ever attempt to run it as a main mower for 8-12 full lawns a day.

The Greenworks 30" commercial mower uses (3) 8ah batteries. Does about 2 1/2 yards per battery. All 3 batteries about 7 1/2 yards. Lot size about 60x100. Battery savings is what I CAN" brag about. Oh, .....the power, the cut, and use of the bag are ALL very good too. The unit though is one heavy piece of equipment and the maneuverability is difficult. You feel like your fighting it at times. It has wheel motors and no transmission. The toro has a transmission which can allow for variable speeds and allow for better maneuverability. Another thing is if you need parts, say for example blades, you have to contact the dealer and he will order them (since he doesnt stock them). And then you will have to b pay not only for the blades but $25 for shipping. And I dont know of a dealer in the area that stocks mowers or parts. Calling Greenworks customer service is atrocious. Sooooo, I feel that the Battery mower situation still has a ways to go.

Battery technology will not make it far unless that next gen battery works out in by 2035. 3 times more power for the space and recharges 3 times faster. That’s the only way it’s going to work well that and actually building a few reactors in every state. Would hate to be in one of the states like California when they shut down the charging. I bet the low lift blades were to increase runtime by creating less wind resistance.

I can't imagine they meant that as a commercial machine. I spend way more than an hour mowing. It did a beautiful job though. Quiet, too, as compared. But I can keep mine engaged without the blades, which is very good because by the time I'm done mowing, I'm pooped!

The main advantage of Toro’s drive system is that there is no lag when engaging the self propel mechanism. Personal pace uses energy from the motor while other systems have a separate electric motor that propels the mower. While you may engage the self people without running the motor, it behaves in a jerky manner. Almost a delay.

I think toro purposely didn’t want the blades to shut off while you walk with it so you can wait another year or two until they fix that problem and continue buying or using the gas versions. I am very disappointed with them! 3 10AH batteries and only 1 charger…how the hack are all the batteries going to be ready for the next day, no one is going to set an alarm clock every hour to switch batteries. I have 2 toro 30’ timemasters for my landscaping business. I am going to wait until they fix the blades to shut off. That’s a safety issue

That Toro is awfully loud for electric mower.
