    I really wanted the most detail possible. I bought the 60 volt snow blower which had a great workout this winter in Utah…really punches above it’s weight. Long term life expectancy of battery devices may never match ICE power. My current mower is the Toro 30” timesaver which I suspect could fetch a good price on local want ads. Mine is about ten years old…new carries a current sticker price around $1500. I have no ability do demo the new mower nor option to return it if it doesn’t meet my demands. I’m happy to reduce emissions. Also your comments about the design of the handle reducing shock over uneven spots in the turf. I’m ready to pull the trigger after your excellent review(s).

    Thank you for your review! I've been using the same Super Recycler since early June and agree with most of what you've said. I'll add another pro... part availability. My kids left a rock in the yard that I neglected to notice... notched up my blade pretty good. Went to my closest hardware store (mom & pop) and was able to pick up the exact OE 21" Toro blade that came with the mower (they call it the "performance" blade with this mower, but it's really the same 21" blade they've been using on all the SR mowers for years). Certainly made my life easier that afternoon and should imply great long-term support. Also - I believe the Toro mowers are the only electric mowers that allow for actual washing of the underside of the deck with a hose... every other manufacturer I looked in to stated NOT to do this, but to use a damp rag instead.

    Thanks for the review. I think there is one possible fix for the handle height adjustment for those who need a lower setting. Why not pick up a pair of smaller bushings? Having said that, Toro should have at least two different size bushing sets included for this reason. It's sad an expensive mower is sacrificing handle adjustment flexibility for a little cushioning. A smaller grommet would compromise cushioning but I think a lower handle would be a good trade for those who need it. Certainly a design change would be the best move. For now this seems like an economical, if not, ideal fix. Might be worth a try. Cable adjustment aside, it seems that setting the correct height is required to prevent binding due to the curve in the grip's shaft. It's what you see when viewing from the side. And that kind of ties into complaints about getting the drive to completely disengage for turns. I saw one video where the operator had to yank on the grip to disengage the drive. I would think forearms parallel to the ground, or hands slightly higher/lower than elbows might yield the smoothest operation. That makes height adjustment paramount. Good luck with only two settings. Pure speculation on my part, however. Thanks again for the review.

    Pretty good review. I own the Super recycler first gen. Battery version which came with the 6.0 amp hour battery and can mow my 4,000 sq. ft. Tttf/KBG lawn on one charge with about one bar of four left. I would add to your review the weak cabling arrangement, they are not tidy and it causes me to really be extra attentive mowing near bushes and other items near the edge of the lawn for fear of catching it in something. Also, personal pace is good not great, it is my first self propelled mower after over 4 decades of DIY lawn care so my expectations were high. The maneuvering around tight spaces takes some real forethought when needing to backup and go forward again. Almost has made me want my old push mower back.

    I have the same model you have. I got a 22" recycler blade (I think made for the gas version) and it is actually slightly longer. Ive noticed marginally better performance and it certainly goes into higher RPM more readily. However I sometimes notice when the grass is damp that material gets built up around the sides because there is less clearance I assume. have to tip it and clean it out several times if its wet which I don't remember being a problem on the original blade.

    What is the charge time from 0% to 100%? What is the runtime from a 100% charge to 0%? I would agree that the headlights need an on/off switch on the handle. Looks like a nice mower but i think coming with 1 battery is it's downfall. I purchased a Greenworks 60v 21in mower 3 years ago which came with 2 60v 4amp batteries. 1 will always stay on the charger ready to use when the 1st one runs out. They charge real quick so swapping them gives you all the time needed to complete the lawn at once. Not being able to comple the whole lawn would drive me nuts. As for the cut it goes through anything and cuts as well as my honda hrx217vka. I like it so much i sold the honda..lol

    Having just purchased the 21568, I'm pretty impressed. The cut was great, even with the economy blade. Just had to try it. lol The pros, thanks to Jimmy and others everyone knows what those are by now. Overall it's a great mower. Not much to complain about here. My main con for this model, is the same as Jimmy's BIL - the clear plastic battery hatch/lid -----thanks online whiners who couldn't hold the previous lid with one hand, while dropping the battery in with the other. Very stupid design on this model, and a future fail spot for sure. The failed default in the previous models was CLOSED. Well yeah, as it should be - doh! The default on the new spring loaded hatch on this model is OPEN, or as on Jimmy's BIL's unit, stuck in the closed position. It's finicky for sure, and I think that this can possibly be tweaked by removing the hatch springs. At least with Toro's a person can source parts out. That fact played a large part in my purchase decision for a new battery driven mower. My second con would be the mulch plug part, wow, not a deal breaker by any means, but this could have had a far easier way to remove it. I know that some folks like how on previous Toro units you could simply flip a lever on the outside and go from bag to mulch, but I also noticed a LOT of consumers complaining how that mower had grass clumping and clogging when being fed into the bag, and that it never quite reached the back of the bag. I can say that with this model, that is most definitely not an issue. So I can live with that design flaw. Kinda dumb and clumsy, but it works. The deck height adjustment - This is not a con by any stretch, unless one is handicapped. Please understand that individual wheel adjustment often leads to a superior cut, vs a 1 and done unit. Yes, it's less convenient, but it removes flexing in the deck, especially on hills, or uneven terrain. Some mowers are better/worse than others in this department. This was explained far better than I could, by another person and a another tubers vid. She pinned that person comment. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqZq0dehota6fcY.html To that I will also add that Toro still uses metal tabs to secure each setting, and still runs their wheels on ball bearings. Most higher end (more costly) electric mowers do neither. At 60+ yrs of age I have seen a lot of grass, and a lot of mowers over the years. Not Just Toro's, and I have spent the past decade using a battery driven mower. I know what cheap feels like. Trust me, this mower is expensive, but it's worth it. I only wish the batteries were about 1/2 the cost of what they currently list them at. Ouch. Thanks for the detailed review, Jimmy. It helped me take the leap! :)

    The headlights are a deal breaker for me. Having a switch to shut them off is a good idea, but I will never mow at night so I don't want the lights on draining the battery.

    @@WatsitTooyah That's pretty typical for all lithium ion batteries. Their power is pretty consistent until almost completely drained. All my Ryobi 18v batteries do the same thing. Some tools may just cut off earlier when they sense less power being supplied. I don't think it's a battery thing, more likely a tool thing.

    Toro’s a good brand . But they need to the handle which l don’t like and have one lever for all four Wheels really. Because l don’t know why that haven’t done that really

  • @cahg3871
    @cahg38712 ай бұрын

    Toro should do something with those cables hanging off the handle- they stick out too far and can catch on bushes etc.Another point of contention for me was the battery cover lid-when I was mowing and hit a bump,the lid would pop up.And that mulch plug was a pain to insert and remove.I returned the lawnmower to the dealership and bought the Recycler.I preferred the door lever for the mulch or bagging feature.And it is lighter then the cast aluminum body of the Super recycler. One more feature Toro should work on-get away from the single wheel height adjustment mechanism,they should go with a single point adjustment lever.Those single mechanism get rusty without oiling and can be difficult to adjust.
