    If someone was going to use this 4-5 hours per day, you have the initial cost of the mower plus you will need 2 sets of additional batteries ($900 for each set of 3). That puts you in the 5k range. You can buy a 48" walk behind for that. Nice video, thanks for taking the time.

    Which still isnt battery. The idea here is the low noise, no fuel costs, and (except this case) no belts

  • @mellowjammer
    @mellowjammer9 ай бұрын

    To eliminate belts you would have to add more motors (higher cost). Then you would have to offset the blades so they don't hit each other. Other battery mowers with this offset design is have reviews that mention mohawking or windrowing issues. To engage the self propel feature without the blades running you would need either another separate electric motor to eliminate the transmission being belt driven off the single motor shaft (higher cost & often jerky starts and fixed speeds) or you would need a blade brake clutch (more pulleys & belts,) which is the #1 mechanical problem with the gas Timemasters & Turfmasters (Turfmasters have a slightly better design though). To do the things you are asking the mower cost would go up another $500 or more because it would have to be totally redesigned. Toro appears to be trying to use a fairly well proven design and just electrify it. Even if it has some shortcomings, it should still cut fairly well. You just have to deal with battery life/runtime and a bit of maintenance. (and HIGH COST!!!)

    I just don't know what Toro was thinking not allowing you to transport the mower without killing the blades. Don't even get me started on the crazy expensive batteries. Unfortunately, they are trying to push everyone to battery powered lawn equipment by making the gas powered options super expensive. Just ridiculous!

    As a commercial lawn guy for 19 years I was considering buying multiple of these mowers, But not now if I’m going electric, I want simplify everything not run a belt system….. Also, if you’re spending that kind of money and you have a flimsy battery cover big turn off

    You should invest in multiple chargers.I have the Toro 60 v Recycler,it does work well,but those batts take a long time to recharge.Depending on how depleted the battery is,it could take 1 1/2 to 1 hour and 45 minutes to recharge a 7.5 amp hour unit.Those are 10 amp hour batts,that would take a great deal longer.As much as I like not having to buy gas or worry about whether the machine is going to start,it’s an expensive set up to buy into.Just my two cents worth.

    Looks like a great product Fill - pity the flimsy battery cover is atrocious, that's gonna crack over time. The top battery compartment water sealed ? Otherwise build quality looks excellent and the ability to 'add' batteries is excellent. It does seem to be a gas mower _trying to be_ a battery mower. I agree, should be a simple design/build. Great review as usual bud, start well :)

    They are really getting souped up, aren't they? I remember my grandpa using the old fashioned reel type mower. But then, my grandparents had a very small lawn. As a professional, you would need something like that. Good thing you're strong. That's a heavy beast.

    not just no... $3k? .. thats a hell no .. wow thats insane .. you know I know that machine cuts some thick grass but at $3k you're getting into the low end zero turns at that price.. You can get a Yard Machines 42 $2600 or Troy Bilt 46" $3100 zero turns... I don't care what the push mower is I am not paying over $500 for it.. just too much.. thats a lot of yards to cut to pay it off. yeah thats like 50-70 yards to pay that off. I mean I guess but .. not me

    Great video. The only reason to get this machine would be if Toro offered a significant trade in value on my existing gas powered unit. This would make for a decent “bridge unit” to a new generation that I am sure will come in the future but offers little value for someone that owns a gas powered equivalent.

    I think direct drive electric motors in mowers don't last long. The shock from objects hurt them. The belts will provide some shock absorbency. Cub cadet electric rider had motor problems.

    I waited for it, then to find out that it was $4500 with 3 10ah batteries, so I needed to spend 15k for two HDX Revolutions with extra batteries. So, I just said give me two HDX Kohler Gassers. The reason why they used the belt system is because of the timed blades, greenworks chose to do the staggered blades like the scag 30’s. The other thing I don’t like about the HDX 30 Revolution is the fact that the blade runs in transport. Say that mower was much lesser in cost, I still would not buy it solely for that reason.

    The plastic battery cover is flimsy.I can't imagine the cost of that plastic cover if it needs to be replaced. Older people like me would probably look at self propelled model. Cost out of my range living on a fixed income. I'm sure if the make a self propelled model it would cost much more.
