That's John Ure, a very quick and crafty driver. In a way, his driving there shows how long he's been racing these kinds of cars. Former winner at Goodwood and Monaco, among others...

Nope. F1 needs to look at what's making for close racing at the front, and think about smaller wings and less grip, and adapt that to what they have now.

Hm, judging by the lap times of the top 2, no, at best, the same pace. But I guess cars that had some connection with Reg Parnell had precedence... And it could also be that the car isn't ready yet...

I'm surprised some of the cars lack roll bars. Seems like a risky omission.

Safety regs weren't retroactive in historic single seaters. You can not have them, but by doing so, you accept the risks involved. And these people do...

Seems pretty clear that for historic racing, the Brits do it best. Shame on the American effort

  • @jcgabriel1569

Don't say that, there were some American historic racers who race these cars the proper way. There's Derek Hill and Joe Colasacco, they're very handy in old cars. Duncan Dayton (who seems to have retired from racing some time ago), he's a serial winner at places like Monaco. And another American, Fred Wakeman is a Goodwood regular, and can really drive fast, in fact, he finished on the podium in one of the races...

@@jcgabriel1569 the individual drivers you mentioned are indeed great drivers, however when one gets right down to it the American events are truly more high speed parading than racing. I believe that American classic/historic car owners are more afraid of damaging their cars than they care about the winning. I know A LOT of guys with some powerful classic cars here that while built to race will never see to better of 30 - 50 mph in a street show. And that's if they ever actually drive them to the show.

The car driven by Will Nuthall to the win is a 1953 Cooper Bristol T23, powered by a 2 litre Bristol inline 6 engine making around 150bhp, weighing around 475kgs, whilst I’m not sure of the history of that exact car, in period Cooper T23s and T24s were raced by the likes of Mike Hawthorne and Sterling Moss

@@ror312gallery19 If it's a parade, then there's time for all that. It's a race. These cars were regular sight in historic racing, and the commentators as well, so, frankly, they work with the assumption that most people already knew these cars. Also, all it needs is a bit of internet search. That works well for me...

You're effing kidding there Peter. These guys are some of the best commentators doing any sort of Race Coverage. Better then most F1 commentators. And both these guys have amazing knowledge about the cars, but they're commentating on The Race, not the carpark presentation of spreadsheets.
