Did the kids help process the chickens? Hope so! Super nanny Jo Frost would be so proud of your kids for learning the value of work!

The kids haven’t helped me yet. My Daughter doesn’t want anything to do with it. I think my son will help once he’s a little older.

If I hadn’t skinned them, I would’ve saved them to show. I like began dissecting a little bit to see the comparison

I have only raised meat chickens once. I raised Cornish Cross. They were big to me. I watch a channel called The Macks. They are starting to raise American Bresse as a meat chicken and are planning on crossing them but I can’t remember with what breed. They are changing so that they do not have to depend on a hatchery since Cornish Cross are not really good egg layers. I guess hatcheries know how to get the Cornish Cross eggs 😂.

I was wanting to try American bresse last year but they were hard to find and many fakes were out there. I opted to let the craze die down a little before giving them a try. Raising my own of any type is definitely my long term plan.

The farm down the road from us sells their meats at the local farmers market. They just had available last week their chicken! I didn't purchase it though. I do know they raise their meat chickens just in mobile tractors and on feed, since I can literally see the operation from the road driving by lol. They also look like Cornish cross. I'll have to pick some up and compare to the grocery store chicken.

It’s more flavorful and tender in my opinion. I haven’t purchased grocery store chicken in probably 3 years. I couldn’t afford it if I didn’t raise my own though. It’s so expensive here. A local market I visited recently we’re selling while chickens at almost $30. That’s cool you have an operation real close to you to source when you may want to

@@RockyCreekHomestead yes! we were considering the half cow option. they raise all sorts of animals. I had to reference your video for pricing to see what I was possibly getting myself into, we would also probably split it with someone else.

Oh man, that stinks. I had bought 2 of these but one was killed by a predator. A Delaware or Columbian was the one chicken my wife wanted so it was a bummer to find out it was a Cornish

I would like to know the the taste difference, if the Brest meat on the dark chicken tastes more like dark ( leg) meat.
