Who are in their 40’s and up, that have seen how much this business has changed. Not all of it is bad, but I think they are getting so far away from the science, and art of this business. That I don’t think it could ever be regained. The ratings prove my point

    I haven't watched in years (except briefly some TNA during the Broken Matt Hardy stuff). I actually miss the characters they used to have, like this guy's a cop and that guy's an undertaker and that other guy's a sergeant, etc. Now it's just a bunch of guys who are mostly all the same, all just walking around in t-shirts and underwear. Some might find the gimmicks I'm talking about to be corny, but I think it makes more sense from a fictional standpoint of these are tough guys from all walks of life and we're finding out who's the toughest. Certainly more interesting that what's going on now (unless it's changed since I stopped watching, but I doubt it has).

Anything slightly controversial is met with that woke nonsense. Can you imagine stone cold trying to break out in this day and age dude would get buried heavily. Mike tyson saying he would eat your children would immediately meet the "woke" judgement. Animal is right. Too much spot wrestling and not enough story telling. You have to have a good mix of the two. That's what I loved about WCW in the 90s. The cruiserweights put on electric high flying matches. The bigger guys put on more basic matches but with good story telling in the ring.

    I would beg to differ. Look at the Undertaker. The guy was all about loyalty, respect and giving back to up and coming wrestlers. Rarely does anyone have a single bad thing to say about him because he didn't spend his entire career backstabbing people, cheating people off title reigns, saying no to losing to others. At the end of the day Hulk Hogan might have the success and the wealth that he has but all of that was done through lying and cheating and these days it's really backfired on him. Fans don't respect him, a lot of wrestlers don't either while Undertaker is pretty much universally liked by his peers and his fans and I would say that Undertaker's legacy far outweighs Hogan's.

    Yes and no. Hogan got himself to the point before WM3 and that set him up to replace Andre as the face. And the talk about trying to turn him into a heel but it wouldn't stick says a lot. Hogan worked the system, but fans weren't ready to see him become a heel or take a fall. When there's that much fan support behind the most recognizable face in the industry, you can't really attribute the bulk of the success on being underhanded.

    This has to be one of the greatest show that I've ever seen on this channel. What Stevie Ray, Jake Roberts, & Kevin Sullivan said about Hogan gave me a better outlook of him. In other words, I never liked Hogan since I first watched WWF in 1984. But now, I have a little more respect for him. But I must correct Stevie Ray when he says that Hogan was the blackest white boy. Oh no, the late Dusty Rhodes holds that title.

    @@felixjones1375 No hate. Just because he’s the Original Icon doesn’t mean he’s better. Randy has had the match of the year on multiple occasions. He’s had better technical prowess his entire career. He tells better in ring stories not to mention most of Hogans new age Gimic came from the Super powers storyline. “Listen Brother” is Macho Man. The fact that I call hogan a hack isn’t his image it’s his ring work. He has been notorious for not wanting to work hard in ring. He has been sited as the worst icon to work with. Macho and Ricky steamboat match will go down as the most impressive and important match of any era. It created the energy we see in ring today. No one prepared matches like Macho. No one but DDP & Taker has ever worked harder and Honestly Macho is Hailed by the locker room while everyone hates Hogan. Also anyone who orchestrates the finger poke of doom does not respect the fans or the industry. Just off that alone he’s a hack.

  • @PharoahTheGoldX

    @PharoahTheGoldX

    @TheVolourn Where is this work ethic maybe backstage politics because in ring every wrestler from his era said he was lazy, over sold himself, never wanted to help good talent get over, no selled there moves, never wanted to practice, he wasn’t dangerous or unprofessional but never wanted to get anyone over, was jealous of Machos Success in real life. Stole his gimic & lingo after the Super powers Storyline & told horrible in ring stories outside of his matches with Giant and Macho. He looked the package but his matches where horrible even for his era. There where hype not substance. Meanwhile Macho/Giant/Sting/Shiek/Supafly & Steamboat where the real work horses of the era. Hogan was honestly a real hack this is coming from legends not just my opinion. Hell Shawn literally decided to expose the clown in ring for all to see as a lazy worker. It’s bad when your own legend peers don’t respect you. It’s sad when Shawn respects Hitman more than “The Icon”. Hell even the one person he got over in his prime Ultimate Warrior Hated him and if He says someone is lazier than he is that’s saying something.

His charisma and ability to "sell" the product on the mic is among the best ever. He's still making a ton of money and you know he negotiated a ton of money from Netflix to do his bio film. Hulk Hogan’s biggest adversary was his greed, and while he did contribute a hell of a lot to the business, it would be one sided to ignore all the harm he also caused it

    Nah, the trick to being successful is you've got to find a way to remain appealing to fans. The guys that do that best, even if it's by being the best heel, rise to the top. There's some politics to it too, but for the most part it's about appealing to fans. Hogan's character did that with little need to change until the WCW era and then he changed. He persoanlly never wanted to be a heel so he fought hard against that.
