Hi there, you can definitely start climbing, irrespective of BMI. I have a guide here, and it says that it is safe (low injury rare) to climb 4a-c when your bmi is 27. So when you start climbing when your bmi is even higher, you can definitely start on 2s or 3s with low injury rate. And my experience is that when you start climbing, you will start gaining muscle really fast, which helps A LOT with fat burning. So..... You should definitely try climbing! You can probably pair up with someone your level at the gym. Climbing people tend to be the quite relaxed go with the flow type. And encourage eachother.

The best part of climbing as an exercise routine is that it’s damn fun, addictingly so. Once you get into it, motivation is no problem. Unless you want to do any other form of exercise again.
This one coach had a different style, which I enjoyed a lot. She started off trying to make sure her student was safe, but then immediately spotted his talent and let him try stuff out.
I love the level of your acting skills. The anticipation in chalking up or the way you ask questions and your motivation is really good. Instead of asking "What's the hardest route?" asking "What's the highest route?" is brilliant. Or the story with your "friend" Frederick, who you try to beat, made me laugh. Magnus, you have really created a character.

I'm a beginner and no, that thought didn't even cross my mind. It seems silly to be fixated on height when I specifically chose to do low-height climbing (bouldering) instead of greater-height climbing (roped). I also didn't do any of the other things that Magnus did in an attempt to appear beginnerish, such as not sticking to the colour of the climb (how hard can understanding colour-coding be lol), using the descent holds (i.e. those grey ones you're only supposed to use while descending) while climbing up, pant so much (or at all), etc. I think all of those things might be stereotypes that advanced climbers have of beginners that don't actually hold true in reality.
@awdksdlsjd

@@maxkho00 I don't think it is wrong stereotypes. I think he is just pretending to be someone who only heard of rock climbing from his coworker who claims he climbed a V3. Please please make more. This is legit the greatest series of ALL TIME!!!!
Because of you at 47 I started bouldering 3 days a week for the last 4 months. I have been a multi sport athelete my whole life but had a fracture in L5 when I was 23 but no nerve damage just pain and a long recovery then at 35 broke my arm and needed rebuilt with plates 3 surgeries and bone graphs. I am currently projecting v4,v5 ish and unbelievably putting on muscle mass like I was a kid again. Thanks for inspiring me. Also the amount I have been able to learn about climbing from your videos has been crazy. It has helped a ton. Especially on reading routes.
When he slid off the wall at 3:02 and just started smiling that was hilarious 😂

Saying you’ve done gymnastics is crucial in making people believe you’re a beginner
This lady is what we need in EVERY climbing gym!!
Shes such a good sport, when magnus says hes not very strong but you can see his giant forearms through the shirt lol
Magnus’s smile at 3:06 😂 So proud of how awkward he looked!

"I actually don't like Fredrik" I fucking scared my cat off the couch with how loud I laughed. And on a little bit of a serious note: thanks for making these fun climbing videos, I managed to convince a friend of mine to try bouldering with me after watching a video of yours, and now she's hooked. We have both struggled with depression and anxiety, and her with ptsd, and climbing is such a life changing activety. We can play, have fun, challenge ourselves, get a great workout, and after our climbing sessions we go home to eat together and watch videos of yours, and videos of people we've found through your videos. Wanted to thank you in person last time I saw you at Skullerud but I would feel too rude to interrupt and bother you😅 Just, thank you so much, your videos have truly been so important to us.

That girl is who you want working everywhere you show up, what a class employee!
her coaching and people skills are awesome! max respect and admiration! that is cold right there
I like that Bjorn has some idiosyncratic traits with the little chalk gestures, the voice inflection, the twitchy legs and roll falls. Even with the deceit, Magnus is always kind enough to tell the coach that they're doing a good job.
This guy seems quite talented, maybe he'll become a famous rock climber one day.

This was the best pro fake out I've ever seen. He truly sold for the majority of the video that he could be a beginner. Fun video!
Loved Sophia! Such a positive and calming energy, I bet an actual beginner would really benefit from that when climbing scary walls.
I loved the moment when he took his glasses off as if he was expecting her to recognize him straight away, but to his disappointment she had no freaking clue who he was xD

Magnus, because of your channel, I tried climbing for the first time. I did not do as well as Bjorn, but still proud to do 3 different V1s as a nearly 50yr old beginner.

She seems super nice and altogether a great human being.
The best thing about this was unlike some other "pro pretends to be noob" videos, the reveal is gradual and in due time. You're not rushing to look cool, or acting like a complete buffoon in the beginner stage, instead achieving a great balance!!
Björn videos will always be great content. There are also a few comedic gems in here: "I don't have a lot of strength" -> "Yea" cracked me up. Coach was also super sweet.
Magnus, I just want you to know that you were such an inspiration to me. You got me to keep pursuing rock climbing as a hobby and it has really helped me physically and mentally.

We need you to collab with a makeup artist and became an old man at climbing gyms. Thank you. Lol
She seemed really nice & had a beautiful smile. Loved her reaction to the first jump. That's the best part of these videos, the great people that you meet while you're undercover. Some of them are wonderful at their coaching.
'People that watch my KZread videos they feel like they watch a friend' I totally agree with you Magnus and also when you told us you are very introverted and all you social life is through your camera and channel. I exactly feel the same way. Cheers men! You won a faithful follower. If you come to Switzerland, let me know and we will do some summiting or hiking together.

you are such an actor this is awesome. I love that sometimes you just do a great technique but suddently make random mistake because you realized it could be exposing you
He's so good at playing beginner, it's hilarious 😂 and what a supportive coach, they get a raise.
What a great instructor! I’ll bet her employers were thrilled when they saw her teaching techniques.
The lil arm wiggle at 12:20 is just too much haha
She's adorable! Loved her kindness and encouraging attitude
She is very professional and full of great motivation. Well done !
I love this video. Im a Norwegian, and a bit overweight. I have just now started climbing (i have tried 2 times). I have found it so overwhelming. All the other climbers, not knowing what I'm doing. Failing and falling. Its hard facing this and still keep trying. This video gave me a lot of genuine good advise and entertainment. So i guess im saying, Takk for hjelpen og motivasjonen. Gleder meg til neste video ❤

Bjorn needs his own show! 🤣. Even though there weren’t any belly flops in this one, the “shaky” arms and smack talk about Frederick make up for it. Also…Pain is temporary, power is forever…please make that a shirt. 😂😂
