The oldest climber I ever climbed with was a 80 year old woman from the British mountaineering club - the mid 1990s. She climbed harder than me, was fearless, and pushed my limits as a second when she climbed past the length of the belay rope, requiring addition of every sling, and line I had within reach in my kit. On a route that was definitely not suited to both of us off the ground. Then after my own heart, she down climbed to her previous clip point 35m below her top out, before abseiling off. This was adventure climbing, and she had chosen a route none have repeated to this day.

At this point, whenever a weird guy/girl enters any gym in Europe with a cameraman behind them, asking for a beginner lesson, they are most certainly some manifestation of Magnus Mitdbo
I love how the coach is having an absolute blast at Magnus playing the old man.
The more that time went on the more he was trying to suppress laughter. He knew he was being trolled. Kudos to him for humouring you for so long though.
"if you are not falling, you are not trying" such a nice and high motivated climbing coach.

Small suggestion for Magnus: I think it would be nice for the viewers, when ever they are naming other climbers a picture of them to show up on screen.

Massive props to the coach!!! SOO encouraging and sweet
My grandfather was climbing in the lake district in the U.K up until his death when he was 81 (from natural causes). Maybe the oldest rockclimber in the U.K, and he dressed a bit like Magnus is dressed here. You can read his obituary in the independant newspaper if you google 'sydney thompson independent obituary climber'
Reminded me of that one time I was clmbing at two really old men showed up. Their gear looked like it was over 20 years old, even the rope had already seen it's best times. I wondered if I should say something, because from my POV this was really risky. But when he started climbing I felt like a fool. Yes he wasn't the fastest but oh man that old man made the 6a i really struggled with before look easy. When we both reached the top we had a talk: - Turns out he was 82 years old and came from Saxon Switzerland. He had been climbing for nearly 60 years. Insane respect for that man, I hope I'm at least half as fit when I reach that age.

Magnus, your acting skills are AWESOME once again! I had a blast watching and listening to you guys. Also the coach is full of positive energie - really nice! And as someone who was born in Germany, I congratulate you to your spot on german accent, with the right placed and sounding german word snippets! Haha, awesome!
that coaches vibe was wonderful the whole time lol. you could tell he was having a blast with you.
Magnus out here showing us all these super chill and awesome instructors.
When I worked as a climbing instructor 10 years ago, I use to have a pair of old ladies (I believe in their 70s) come in and climb together. It was fun to watch because they were very good and had extremely solid 3 point technique. They weren’t the fastest, but could climb most routes in the gym no problem.

this is gold! i love these pretend videos, they always crack me up and they are informative and entertaining too!!
Obviously the world needs a video of Magnus trying some of Johnny Dawes and other UK classic gritstone routes - would love to see him try The New Statesman and Gaia (on a top rope, of course!)
Climbing with a scarf? Not on my shift brother! 💪😂 I don’t like Frederic too! 😂😂😂 Amazing funny video! 💪😎
As a climber from Frankenjura myself, it was so cool hearing Magnus talk about it! And the way he talked about it (bolts often placed far apart, etc.), he definitely knows it from experience
8:30 Here Magnus looks like a little boy out in the cold snow peering through a window, watching other kids opening Christmas presents that he'll never have.
Doesn’t matter how you look. If you don’t move like an old person, the jig is up. I refuse to believe this coach didn’t instantly know this was a ruse, but great video anyway!
I love these videos

The teacher is a legend. So patient and motivational. Good man! And Magnus was really into it. Very nice, give the man a Hollywood role somewhere :)
the instructor is a legend, super humble and kind! way to go young man!👍👌
As a 66-year old codger, I couldn't stop laughing. This season I will have to try wearing the wool coat, hat and scarf on my 8b+ project. Not the big whips though!
What a lovable guy that coach is! When you talk about the 7c+ onsight and he eggs you on to try the 8b+ has to be my favorite part😂
The coach was so patient and kind! Love it
21:15 When he nailed the dyno on the 8c the music was perfect! Gave me a real LOL!
So I have been mostly inert for a while now, spending almost all of my time at my computer. Yesterday I finally went to my local rock climbing gym, mostly due to Magnus's content and I had some of the most fun I've ever had. I'm certainly going back and while I am extremely sore, I am looking forward to the future! Thank you so much Magnus your content means the world to me.

Kieran was a great sport, and you could tell he knew something was up, esp when he offered the 7c. Great video Magnus - I love these.
2:53 "Do you know what an autobile is?" "Yes, we rode in one on the way here"
On the rewatch of this, knowing Kieran was aware from THE BEGINNING, that makes Kieran's jokes and laughter after 19:00 SO much funnier. He was trying so hard to play along but at that point he just couldn't anymore and he's like wheezing with laughter xD Made me laugh so much harder on the rewatch

Wow, this video made me laugh out loud. They joy of the instructor and his positive attitude and how calm he was on the massive falls was super cool to watch. I'm myself a (gym-) climber for years and most of the climbers and instructors I met were super supportive and friendly - it's a great community. It's wonderful to see how much fun the instructor had and that he played along so well. The German words were funny to hear and actually pretty good (I'm myself German). Keep these videos coming. There are some pretty nice climbing gyms in Munich ;-)
