Primus Winter Gas
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I do a comparison test of the Primus Winter Gas and the Primus Power Gas. Please read the accompanying article at hikinginfinland.com/2015/02/pr... for more details and information.

Quite amazed how fast the winter gas is. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the video! That was exactly the best way to compare. I liked the two matches struck at the same time. I was impressed that there was a 30 second difference. To me, that is significant if I am where counting ounces, pack space and cold temps factor into my stove decisions. This Primus Winter Gas canister adds cold weather versatility. Another follow up test could be to swap the cannisters /stoves to see if there is any slight differences between the two stoves.

Good idea Steve, I could try that if it gets cold again.
That's quite a big difference. Just for reference sake, did you also weigh how much gas was used if compared between the 2? Got a feeling that winter gas will empty faster based on the work done.
Hi, There is a huge difference between 18g/0,5l and the performance given by MSR (7g/ 0,5l). Just to have an idea what could be the amount of gas to melt and boil 0,5l of snow ?
But isnt all difference here is when canister becomes half full or less, this is when performance of non winter gas should drop?
Question: Did you let those canister to cool outside before this test? That canisters are -13 too?

Hei Tomi, yes, I did that.
Thank you for great test! It seems winter gas is really better. Could you have to tell, how many grams of primus winter gas need to boil 0,5L at winter conditions, descrided at video? I've test my MSR Windburner with Kovea gas (80/20% isobutane/propane mix), it spent 5:23 and 9 grams of gas at similar conditions + wind 1-1,5 m/s. But it was 0,63L of water. Of course MSR Reactor is more powerful than Windburner, nevertheless, it would be interest to see how many fuel spend Reactor.

Hei Dima, if I make a follow-up video in the future I will make sure to check the amount of gas used!
It seems that winter gas has real advantages in front of regular gas. But how it will burn after 3 or 5 hours on a cold weather. When it's own temperature became minus 13 or something near that.

It should be much better than normal gas, even after a day in the pack out in -15°C.
Didn’t your feet freeze in those shoes? Liked the video:)
In my experience, gas pressure massively drops off below -25C, I know that's the realm of multifuel but would be interesting to see how the winter gas copes at -30

I would also be really interesting to see this!
