The 24-70mm 2.8 was the only lens I used for 4 years. It served me well and for the most part I think my shots were okay. Agencies, models and clients liked the shots but I always felt that something was missing. I have recently switched to primes, 85 & 50 and I just picked up the 35 1.4. my love for photography has been rekindled. The 35mm might just be my new favorite! Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm glad you liked it :) Yeah I feel the same way, any 24-70 is a fine lens but there's just something missing for me as well. I just love prime lenses too much haha. The closest zoom lens I've gotten to really enjoy using is the Tamron 35-150mm 2.8-4 and the Canon RF 28-70 f2

I do shoot on 24-70mm f/2.8 mk II. I love using primes but owning 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm is much more expensive than owning one 24-70mm, which covers three of those focal lengths and is close enough to 85mm for me. Also majority of my photos taken with this lens is taken between 30 and 55mm so I love this lens and I use it like 60% of the time. The location I liked the most was that green ivy wall.

Great lens for press photographers when you can't carry around a bunch of primes all day! I used to use the previous version of that lens all the time back in my newspaper days. Very sharp, sturdy and reliable. However, I would prefer a prime if I didn't have to worry about carrying around heavy lenses all day. Two extra stops of light can be pretty handy!

Sitting at the back of my dry box, like a spare bottle of tomato sauce at a bar b que, is my least used lens the Canon 24-70f2.8L II. I always use a lens hood, not just to reduce lens flare but also to protect the front lens element from being damaged!

I've been shooting back lit for the past 11 years and have never damaged a lens/body from the sun, so a lens hood is mostly to avoid lens flare and help create more contrast in back lit images.

I wasn’t suggesting the use of a lens hood to prevent damage from the sun but to protect your lenses from bumps & scrapes!

You should try the Tamron 24-70 and maybe do a comparison video. I have rented both and I think the Tamron is way more bang for your buck! As good as Tamron and Sigma have gotten, I don’t know if I’ll ever pay full price for a Canon lens.

I used to shoot with 24-70 and 70-200 when I was still shooting weddings. They were awesome but just too heavy for my taste. Eventually switched to a 35/85 combo and never looked back.

@@juliatrotti yah the weight can really take a toll on you especially shooting long weddings. I just let my 2nd and 3rd shooters handle all the zooms.

First of all thank you for the video! Mahalia has a very nice face but I think she's very slim! And I wonder about the lens hood. I always use it in the opposite direction on the lens. Can you explain why you use in the transport position? Back to the video, I have only two zoom lenses but 6 fixed focal length. I love my Sigma Art 135 1.8, it works great on my D 750 and the Z6. I mostly use ist for portraits of my two lovely cats. But the nikkor AF-S 85 1.8G is much smaller and lighter than the Sigma 135 1.8. So the 85 often comes with me when I'm on a trip an the weight must be small. For every day photgraphy I use the Nikon Z6 with the Nikkor Z 35 1.8S or the Sigma 50 1.4EX DG HSM(the old one 50mm). On the D 750 I often use the Tamron SP AF 35 1.8 Di VC USD, it's a very compact combination. For the rare moments of landscape photography I have a Nikkor AF-S 20 1.8G. And if I have a very sunny and bright day I use my Sigma Art 24 -105/4 DG OS on either cameras. My Tamron SP 70-300/4-5.6 Di VC USD was a bad buy, I hardly ever use it. But to be honest I'm looking for a 24-70/2.8 that I can use at both cameras. Sometimes there are moments when a 35 mm is too short and a 85 mm is too long.

Beautiful photos. I think a 24-70mm lens is great but not in the night. It is too slow Specially with a olympus micro four thirds. You have to push very high the iso and you get a noisy photo.
