My Mama has pecan trees (84 yrs old). Last year her trees did not bear. She normally takes them by bushels to a nearby town where a gentleman has a machine that cracks them. Then she brings them home and her siblings (and spouses) come and they sit around her kitchen table and shell them. She usually makes a big pot of soup to serve them and they make a day of it. She freezes them by the gallons. I love to toast them in butter in a skillet and salt them. I make homemade butter pecan ice cream with them...oh my!! So good!

Ms Lori, I wanted to thank you so much for all you do! I so enjoyed this video as with all the others. I had no idea Pecans could even be canned. The fact that you celebrate our Lord. I almost want to cry knowing that there are people in the world that are so good like you and Mr Brown. I feel as if I have known you forever. I always come away from your videos learning something new. There are so many things you say that fall into the way I grew up, my mum was a part-time cook at our little school for years. Then she took it over and everyone liked her so much! That of course was in the 60’s & 70’s. That’s when real food was cooked at the schools. When I was in High School, I had a class working in the kitchen and I remember making the monster Cinnamon Rolls every Friday. I enjoyed it so much. It’s such a shame that kids don’t get to have those experiences anymore. I love to bake and can. I have so much leftovers when I do make or bake something that all 3 freezers are just about filled. I only have myself to cook for but am used to cooking for a lot of people, it’s been so hard trying to pare down for just me and my little Schnauzer, Donut! Thank you and Mr Brown for being so entertaining, he is a hoot! God Bless you and yours, Love in Christ, Jilli Pritchard

I always enjoy watching/listening to y’all. Today, I enjoyed an extra treat from you when you sang a little bit of a tune I haven’t heard in way too long. I sang it for my babies. I sang all the time most all of my life. Then, something so traumatic happened to me and I stopped singing. I stopped all my writing songs and like Loretta Lynn wrote a song about her husband “I Can’t Hear The Music Anymore.” I didn’t mean to go on so writing this. I only ended to tell you that you blessed me extra this morning. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Mr. Brown gets home with all them fish, enjoy some for me & my dear love too! Prayers & blessings y’all. I crack pecans with vice grip players. They have a adjusting screw on the end of them so they can be set to just crack the shells. I give the nut a crack then I rotate the nut a quarter turn and crack it again. When i get the tool adjusted just right most of the nuts come out whole with very few crushed. I told a big bowl of nuts in my lap and I toss the meats in another bowl in front of me as I let the shells fall back in the bowl in my lap. I can shell a big bowl of nuts in no time at all. Thanks for the video.

Don't know how I missed this video when it was fresh but glad KZread suggested it tonight. The reason your quick bread sinks in the bread machine is that you have too much moisture in your recipe for that size pan and bread machine. They all run so differently and I bet there is no problem with your delicious recipe in a standard oven. It doesn't really matter much but thought I'd pass that along. Thank you for showing another method of preserving nuts. It looks like a fun project if I can ever manage to find a decent price on nuts this holiday season. You have a sweet singing voice too, thank you for sharing that little snippet. If I sang to my jars they might just crack.

And if I can would I just use the same procedure? Thanks for your wonderful videos. I live in Arkansas also. And I have been to Hardy many times but never stopped for anything there. But I’m gonna make it a destination for the summer. My husband and I made it a priority at least to go somewhere in Arkansas once a month that we’ve not been before. And we love finding old restaurants that have been around a long time that makes good food while we’re out. We really don’t have the time to take two weeks off or even a week off for vacation right now but a day trip is always in the books! 😍

I’m doing the same thing Ms Lori. I now make two loves of bread twice a month. lol..you should of seen my first loaves of bread! Hahaha….but today….it’s beautiful. I don’t use a machine. I don’t want to depend on electricity, so it’s all hand made. But I just love it! Now…I’m going to make this bread by hand and see how it works out. Banana Bread is my favorite bread…..thank you Ms Lori…

Miss Lori, have you tried oven canning banana bread in mason jars?? Look around and check that out. We did that down here in Texas as a church project. We decorated the lid with fabric and a bow and then handed them out to the moms for Mothers Day. It was super fun. *** Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to teach us new ideas. I'm so grateful for this particular video. It's the first one I clicked on to can nuts!! 😇🥰 I wanted you to know I had watched your video this morning on canning the Italian beef... mine just finished processing and my house smells amazing! I'm grateful for you every single day. God bless you dear sister. 😇🥰💞

Thank you Miss Lori, I am getting our bread machine out of our storage shed. I love banana bread, I like to put dried apricots or whole cranberries in mine. I never thought to do it in a bread machine! 52 years ago when I was a newly wed, and so poor we couldn’t pay attention, my mother-in-law taught me to make home made bread. For years that is the only bread we ever ate. Love your recipes and you and your sweet husband.

I’m thinking it would be great with cinnamon cream cheese on top too…or…make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of it. My grandmothers used to have fig trees and always canned up a bunch of fig preserves. Those would taste delicious on the banana bread too.
