Hi Ms. Lori, Since you are not a big fan of black eyed peas, you may want to try homemade black eyed pea hummus. The only ingredient you may not have on hand is tahini (sesame seed paste). The recipe is...2 cans black eyed peas, 1/3 cup tahini,1tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp paprika, 2 cloves peeled garlic, 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice. Process all ingredients until smooth. Garnish with chives and serve with pita bread or crackers. A new fun appetizer.

Miss Lorie, I've never canned my own beans, although I made myself my own batch of baked beans and they were FABULOUS I've canned a lot of other foods including different meats in glass jars. I too have a beautiful collection of different types of beans. I'm going to set up my canned dried beans tonight, and process them tomorrow since my sweetheart is sleeping and he's real sensitive to kitchen food smells. I purchased my Presto 23 quart pressure scanner in 1974 when I was 19 years old. I've replaced my rubber gasket and rubber blowout valve about 3 times. The pressure gauge is still accurate after all these years but I take very good care of it. I keep it in a temperature controlled house. I do not oil my rubber gasket as I believe that contributes to the break down of it. It has been a workhorse. I just used it last month. This is how I can my dry beans and peas also. Thank you for teaching others how to can.

I’m going to start canning all of my own beans now. These are so creamy and tasty. This is my first time ever canning dried beans. The texture is PERFECT and I even used older beans. I had some hatch chili powder and added it instead of green chilies. Next time I will add a touch of sugar to a few jars so I can eat them from the jar. I live rural, the local grocery store is expensive and carries just the basics in ethnic foods mostly. So glad I learned to pressure can finally!! I don’t really care for the store bought ranch beans except for one they don’t sell here. Thank you so much!!!! 🥳

I make dry beans from scratch as needed usually, but my problem since the shortages have started is finding our favorite chili beans. And if I can find them the price is horrendous. I do like canning dry beans and I wondered why I couldn't make my own. So I tried making chili beans using our favorite chili powder; it worked great. I'm looking forward to canning my own chili beans, so it doesn't take half a day to make chili. Yes, you can use plain cooked pinto beans or any bean of choice in chili, but the chili will look different. My hubby has never had a sense of smell or taste, so as you can imagine looks and mouth feel are VERY important to him.

I love beans but I wasn't looking forward to this video. I decided to watch it because my husband is watching his TV shows and I was really intrigued by your method of canning beans. I've never seen any canning done this way. I'll be checking out your canning videos. Thank you so much for showing me a different way to can.

Seems like doing the beans this way is quicker than precooking them, soaking them, etc. they looked really nice sitting there all processed. Can’t argue with what works.

Thank you so much for the recipe for ranch beans. I love them but I would have to turn up the heat in mine. Lol. I will try your tip for the back burner. I have zero success canning black beans because they are so small I guess. PS. I love the rooster print above your sink. I love how the light above it shines on it like it is dawn and he is about to make some noise. I kept staring at it and had to rewind a couple of times to hear what you said. It’s beautiful

Dear Mrs. Lorie, I canned these back in January or February and told my little sister and she canned some too. She said they were wonderful and good enough for a main dish. I canned quarts of pintos with all the spices and put the green chilis. Well last night I finally opened a jar!!!! They are so delicious I can’t believe the delicious taste without any meat or fat! Just wanted you to know!

Miss Lori, I did a lot of pressure canning this weekend and had enough time to try your Ranch Style beans the way that you do them. They turned out wonderful and my husband really liked them. I believe these will be a staple in our food storage from now on. Thank you so much for making this video.

I canned 13 jars of these Ranch Beans, 10 with home canned NM green Chili from a local farm here in Roswell and 3 with fresh jalapeños! They are so delicious and NO MUSHY BEANS! The texture of the beans is amazing! They hold their form and are so tender and delicious!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with me!! We will be making these from here on in. No more store bought beans!!

Thank you little friend! I needed something industrious to engage in, your tips are much appreciated, as I am yet a novice at many canning mysteries, love you , little friend! I have 10 pints in canner now. Instead of the g.chillies, I added 1/8 tsp of tajin, it will make them lively😋 be blessed❤

I like this method bc I have an electric canner that only holds 5 pints. So to test this recipe,I could use your method and test a small batch and then adjust the next big batch. Also, you don’t have to make a sauce and then add it to the beans and maybe not have enough sauce for the amount of beans I have. So I like this method. Thanks for showing this.

I just discovered Ranch style beans. I bought them in the grocery store and they were pretty pricey. We found we really liked them mixed with our taco meat. I've been looking for a recipe to make them so thanks in advance! I'm sure this recipe will be so much better that store bought. Can't wait to give them a try. To be real truthful we don't eat a lot of beans. We have baked beans as a side dish and beans in our chili but that's about it.
