    Makes a lot of sense, particularly when you see the prices of a high quality boot sole. Recycles tires, saves money.

    Excellent job. this is exactly what i was doing in the last days on my pair of crocs that needed a new sole. I made the mistake of trying to make a sole with the tyre and the metal wiring, unnecessary and too much work for no reason. Remember, always but the tyre above the metal wiring inside, you don't need that metal!

    I wonder if it would save some trouble to run a grinder with a diamond blade around the tire on both sides an inch in from the sidewall, on the tread, to make the only job left to do being the cutting away with the knife? Also what is the difference of a winter tyre. Here Down Under we only have normal tires, not much snow around at all. Are winter tires softer?

    Agreed. Shoe goo sucks. It will turn white and seperate within a year. Cyano acetates just turn hard and crack fast. Old school rubber cement, vulcanizing cement or yellow contact cement will last much longer but I still havent found one to be forever permenant if mixing leather and rubber, but so far these have worked best for me. Be sure to clean everything real good before gluing with a brush and water then alcohol, it makes a big difference.

    Really great idea. I'm guessing its much harder rubber than standard shoe soles. Did you find that they were more slippery than other soles?

  • @diypppalain

    @diypppalain

    5 жыл бұрын

    actually, winter tires are much softer than the original vibram. Some such as Blizzak have silica in the rubber. On of the problem was the distance between thread was capturing snow instead of releasing it. this is due to a flattened rubber as opposed to circular rubber. So a tire groover can open up the thread after application to fix this problem.

    Can only walk forward using that logic. "Arrow" points away from direction of travel. If opposite the debris would build up in V and loose traction. When it points away from direction of travel the tread is self cleaning.
