I like this so much that i took my crocks to my local cobbler shop and had this done w slightly different sole. I tested them by wearing them in the pool and on my boat. They still float and all my friends that I fish with are now taking they're in to have them done too. My cobbler guarantee them to not come loose he said if they do he will reattach them for free for the life of the shoe. The sole i chose was called " mini lug" its like a very low profile tread of a hiking sole only 1/4" thick and very flexible. I notice a slight difference but not much i still have all the comfort and i dont feel any rocks like i used too because they were wearing thin the best thing is they dont slip any more. Now for the kicker here.... i am a 40 year retired shoe cobbler and did this to my own crocks. I live in the southern USA and these are very popular here. People are bringing them to me to " trick them out" as they say. ...One young guy that rides ATV's stated that i made his crocks 4 weel off road compliant. Also they dont think of it in terms of it being a repair but more as an upgrade to look cool, different, a conversation piece as well as making them last much, much longer. Because im retired and work out of my barn/shop i charge $35.00 to do them but do expect to pay a professional that has overhead cost at least $20.00 more.

LOL crocabikes. I like the not quite book matched pair of soles. They look legit like the croc and the tyre were made for each other. Reminds me of when I had clogs (real wood ones) and used similar rubber offcuts to re shod them every 6 months or so. It gives you a different perspective on shoes when you maintain them as you would a car or bike instead of bin them at the first sign of wear and tear. Those clogs lasted me around 13 years

In Peshawar in the tribal area of Pakistan in the shoemakers Bazaar in the old part of town, their sandals are hand made, using old car tyres for the soles. I bought some and wore them in Asia for years and in the UK also. They're the best and cheapest footwear I've ever had and only some secondhand ex German army para boots were as tough and they were waterproof and lasted on the motorbike all winter in all day rain and I trekked across the northern foothills of the Himalayas bordering Nepal over 120 miles in a week plus a 2 week trek to Sundardunga Glacier around Nanda Devi National park. The sole came unglued at the front and wore out but despite this they were still really good on the uppers after several years of secondhand usage and now they're hard to find secondhand and I haven't had any since 1997. You would love seeing the Pakistani pushtun shoemakers in that shoemaker quarter of the old market. I recommend a holiday there to anyone and especially going to Chitral, Tirich Mir and the Hindu Kush. I spent over 3 months there in 1997 , a month in Feb 97 and 9 weeks in July, aug, sept 97 and your boots would keep my feet dry and comfortable which is so so important and in 2012 I was in the worst weather in over 200 years in India. Minus 15c in the day. I'm fortunate to still be here as we were snow and iced in at 2000m near Kasar Devi temple on a ridge in the Himalayan foothills.
