Check out the paint bravely podcast he talks about it a little bit on there over the last few months, it's a great way to keep up and stay an informed Goober 👍
If you're a 40k player tired of being mentally exhausted by the rules bloat and long game length, I highly recommend you give Grimdark Future a try. You can use your 40k miniatures to play it and it's pretty clear what factions and units substitute for each other ("Battle Brothers", "Robot Legions", "Orc Marauders", etc). My first 2,000 point game was completed in 2 hours (plus 30 minutes set-up time). The rules are free and there's only like eight pages, so if you already have a 40k army, there's very little investment needed on your part to give it a try.
@GoobertownHobbies

It's a breath of fresh air... I mean, I still forgot to use my dinosaur's "Predator" exploding 6's, but Grimdark Future is much, MUCH easier to learn :-)
@Benry87

I made the switch about six months ago and I've never been happier. At first it felt like "too little" after playing Warhammer for a few years, but it really makes you think about your troops and their movements as key decisions as opposed to remembering all of your stacking buffs, auras, and strategems. Much faster-paced and far more engaging for both players.
@guysmcfellas615
Жыл бұрын
I switched to one page a few years ago, and it's just so much better. I would play Warhammer for a couple months every year or two, and just get tired of it. OPR is just so much easier to build a 1000 point army, and play a game in an hour.
@spaceiguana5066

@@GoobertownHobbies True, you may have forgotten the exploding 6's, but at least it wasn't the Kabal of the Blackheart nonsense of "Oh, it's turn 3 despite it being turn 2 because Blackheart." That was by far my favorite rant in an episode of Paint Bravely.

I love that you showcased a non-GW game using non-GW models. The more people that see there are other great options out there to have fun, the more competitive the market for our attention, the harder companies need to try to keep it, the better the hobby becomes!

Your cats strolling nonchalant through the picture and you just giving them a loving smile or move yourself to stay in the frame never fails to make me smile. Also kickass video dude
Brent, your current work with MWG Dave, Cinecore, Monument, One Page Rules, and Greenleaf Terrain has been a joy to see here and has me excited for the final product, and the effect that your collaborative work will have on the growth mini-wargaming community. My biggest wish is to see some kind of metric on how your effort translates into more players, more games, and ultimately more fun. Many of us move through life trying to do no, or as little harm, as possible while we figure out why we are here and what we will do about it. You sir, and your collaborative team, have and will be creating joy when new people join the hobby. This same observation is also easily said for MWG Dave and the host of organizations mentioned above. When the last frame is selected, and the last bit of digital video hits the cutting floor, there will be a nylon mesh canoe seat reserved for Brent in the heavens of 3D printed resins, old well loved brushes, and favourite paints...but don't look for MWG Dave there...he will be in hell, organizing the troops for one more battle. (Insert saurian roar) May your keel remain straight and above the rocks, your paddle never chip, and your seat be comfortable during your long paddle to the sea. You are a class act sir and I wish you the best.
I love how slowly you see him start to grow more and more facial hair though out the video it was kinda funny and made it seem like he was really doing nothing else but painting dinosaurs

Dude I love it I remember just enjoying watching you and your cats playing with water colers and how they changed the look of your models and now you’re practically shooting gladiator on the tabletop. You’ve earned this and deserve this, love everything you do!
It'd be a really great idea for someone to start a major production company to make content like this all the time, need to find the right set of people but Goobertown Hobbies, Miniwargaming, a Film crew, and an editing Team all working together to make content would be amazing and i'd join a subscription for that if it wasn;t too much per month. and really this is the future of Table Top Gaming videos, you just have to make it. "Play On" Tabletop is currently one of, if not the best Battle Report channel, they don't have the moving camera, but they do a lot of really great work and are the best i have seen so far, but if you can figure out how to streamline this entire system into a production company, this could be the biggest thing in War Gaming Entertainment. The only thing i can think of to add, and this would be just to make it over the top silly and fun, which is Cosplayers / Costume Makers so that the hosts in the videos can be dressed as the commander of their army. I'm going to dream about this and hope someone or several of you can do it.

Brent this is really great timing. My wife and i watch battle reports at bedtime sometimes and we just were really disappointed by one last night. It was a lotr helms deep battle with an exceptional terrain piece and sweet paint job on the minis, but the whole thing was ruined by cameras and editing.
