    Awesome Job. I am looking to do something similar but with my Surrey Quad Cycle bike. It has two sides with two drive chains. I upgraded from a single speed to a 3 speed on each side. Next step is to add an electric option

    Great placement on the battery and once you convert it over to something that has a much better power density you'll have assuming you use the same case and rack a long distance bike capable of up to or more than 100 miles I suspect

    How good is that motor, gearbox, & sprocket for going up hills, and, do you think you would lose much speed when installing a larger gear for climbing hills better?

    Hello, the motor works well going up hills. I’ve not driven it on steep hills, though. I’m not sure about the differences with larger gear, but it will use more energy either way when going up hills…Thanks!

    Do you have heating issues with the battery pack and controller stuffed inside what looks to be a somewhat filled and stifling bag? I'm asking because it doesn't look like it breathes very well but it does look a lot nicer than the ones typically sold for this application so I guess I'm just wondering is it able to dissipate Heat properly as it sure does look a lot nicer than the ones made for that

    No heating issues with the battery pack. I selected the bag because it also prevents water or rain from touching the battery pack and the controller..,Thanks!

    ok ive the system on the by bike for awhile im loving...but ive now got as problem with the sprocket o0n the motor has came lose from the back side of sprocket hoping i can just fix wit on...if not how do i remove the sprocket without damaging the 36v 350w motor...thanks

    Hopefully you got it fixed by now. You should be able to remove the sprocket from the shaft without damaging the motor.

    I ordered it through EBay from China because it is way cheaper than US sellers. It took about a month for it to get to the US, but it was worth the wait.

I have already found a ebike converserion kit on Amazon for $177 flat 36v 450 watts but batteries are so expensive on Amazon

    Put three of those new lithium ion packs in parallel in that old case you had and triple your original range or three more because it looked like you had room for four and quadruple your range

    I recommend using a 48v directly instead of boosting a 24v to a 48v.

    I am thinking about gettin same motor for me and my wife... I have seen kit around a while. Does the motor interfere with back foot when pedaling? Its so close to heel that it seems like you would hit back of your foot could you do a video of you pedaling and maybe a close up of pedal and motor area.... Thank you for the video

    When you are on the electric mode, you can rest your feet on the pedals. If you are pedaling, the left pedal is close to the motor, but you can position your foot to create clearance…Thanks!

    just mount the motor in the vertical position, and you will have all the clearance you need

    If your controller and battery pack terminal plugs don't match, you can replace them with new terminal plugs. You can find terminal plugs on Ebay or Amazon. Be careful. When you replace the battery plug, make sure the positive and negative wires don't touch. Thanks!

    I still have lots of fun with it. The electric motor serves as an extra gear, especially when going up hill. Also I use the battery for other purposes as well when I’m not riding. For me, I think it is worth it. Thanks for asking.

    The answer varies depending on the weight, speed, conditions of the road, uphill, downhill, type of motor you are using and how much amp-hours the battery has. On one charge, I rode more than 7 miles on this pack.

    Yes, so long as the voltage of the battery is rated for the motor. For example, if the motor is rated for 24V, then using a 24V with a certain amount of amp-hours so be ok. Thanks!

A number of viewers pointed out that there are battery packs with false ratings on the market. Be careful.     What is your range and speed capabilities before and after conversion to lithium ion so I can compare the two because I was looking at that same kit and reluctant to buy it because it looks quite janky that said looks don't concern me near as much as performance and capability and yours is the first I've seen that actually fit properly without drastic modification of the bracket or bike or both to get the chain lines straight

    It is possible if the controller allows more than 36v. However, if the motor is rated for 36v, it is most efficient at 36v. Of course, your bike will be much faster at 48V. Thanks!

    @@adarshseegoolam lower voltage less speed. The only thing about overvolting the motor is you gotta have compatible components, and you gotta keep an eye on the motor temperature

    Disadvantage. Most of those batteries have about a two year warranty. With plenty usage you may have to change about every two years. But not a bad idea considering the size and range.

    Lead acid batteries should only be discharged 50% at most.

    @@diypotentials there are so many 18360 batteries being made, there are many that are fake 18360's that are lighter and have way less amp hours, sadly the market is flooded with these low quality batteries,, there are youtube videos on how to spot fakes and how to spot the real deal 18360's but you would have to cut the plastic to see the cells and check the numbers

    It's possible that is 30ah battery if they use the flat type lithium cells. Kinda like one used on phones. Or, probably lifepo4 battery like those used in solar power storage. If it's 18650, yeah maybe no.

    that's not going to give you any better range than the lead acid 10a batteries. your battery is probabaly about 10a as well. Most chinese 18650 cells are around 2amps so a 5p pack is 5x2amps = 10amps. mislabeled chinese battery packs is the oldest trick in the book . sorry, but now you know why yo0u are not getting 3x the capacity vs lead acid.

    @@diypotentials well that is what the shady battery maketing department counts on. people not actually testing the capacity of the cells. sorry you got screwed. www.batteryhookup.com is much more honest and often has complete packs if you are patient enough to wait.

    @@diypotentials 10 AH is still usable some ebikes come with a battery like that as standard and the lithium will be a lot lighter that the SLA , times the series by the parallel to get total number of cells then divide stated capacity in milliamps by number of cells and you'll soon see that the stated capacity is not true
