Hi dude! I'm an electrical engineer that came across a lot of motor controllers. The capacitors they use are usually 55V capable, It won't have any problem on the most 48V controllers if you slightly overvolt it. Mainly motors only have windings and a hall sensor, which should be alright uptil 90V's. It's gonna take all the load until it reaches 85°C. It's the controller you'd want to keep an eye at. That it might pop up! Gread video! Cheers! *Healthy advice: You should use pedal assist on front wheel to have an AWD bike and burn dem cals fo good! *Also your tires have very high rolling resistance for a road like that

Just my opinion, do what you like with it. When you overvolt a motor, it definitely wil deliver more until that fateful day when it gets too hot and burns up on you. However, if you dont hold the throttle open too long or too often, you might get away with this for a very long time. I once overvolted a 24v motor to 40v. It lasted 6000 kms. Unfortunately, I got so acustomed to it working well, I absent mindedly ran it into a wind for an hour and cooked the motor.

Yeah that's the thing It works until you put too much load on it. What people forget is that in order to reach equilibrium when going from 36V -> 48V battery for example, is that you should also swap out the controller for something that can either be current limited, or a weaker controller that delivers lower max Ampere. Otherwise it's a gamble in the long run. The S886 display has P14 Current limit for example, the controllers that are compatible with that would be ideal. As you can lower the current settings to make up for the 30% boost or 40% boost in Wattage when going from 36->48, or 36->52. Same principle for you if you went from 24->48.

But 72V to a 36V 750 watt motor might be great! Also, setting wheel size smaller allows for more speed before the governor kicks in. Hmmmm.....

My speedo is off too but unable to change it so I just use GPS. These little "250w" geared motors can take way more than that...most of them can handle way more, anyway, I think the plastic gears inside the hubs are the weak point. You can buy replacements for very little money, and I bet you could replace the plastic gears with metal ones if you know how to measure and count teeth. The 9-pin cable would melt before you damage the motor with amps / heat, imo. You could probably open the motor and replace the 9-pin with 10 guage wires.

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzread.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

It's preferred that the controller have a equal or higher wattage rating than the motor, otherwise you are going to push the controller to it's very limit once you reach a certain speed or if you're going uphill and don't use pedal assistance which can cause it to overheat. But yes, it does work under some circumstances. If you use it with pedal assistance and maybe not the max mode, then for sure.

If I had to guess, the battery is 20 aH, maybe upper teens at the very least, judging by the size of it.

Wow that's pretty good. I've recently become disabled through arthritis in both knees. I was thinking of an electric bike to help me get some exercise and be kind to my knees. In your opinion what should I be looking for. I don't want any goofy looking bike either with tiny little wheels. That bike looked good but what is it. If anyone else can help with advice please let me know.

Please can you recommend a bike hybrid/mountain, more hybrid because mostly flat and built up roads. I’ve been looking so long for the right bike but the options are endless. Online, people have very mixed opinions on what bike i should get. My budget is ~£800. Thanks

Look for an older steel Trek Multitrack, Specialized Crossroads, or Giant Innova. I think the steel dropouts could handle the torque of the motor better over the long haul. You could also beef them up with a little welding.

Would love to do this but would ruin my bike plus shit at electrics 🤣🤣, also definitely need to be waterproof as I would be riding it to work in the rain

Look at a video on Electric Bike Laboratory where they disassemble a hub motor and waterproof it with spray epoxy, then add Statorade to improve cooling.

Thats what we can a electric bike grin you do it the 1st time on a electric bike or after a upgrade Front wheels are dangerous I know because I nearly smashed my face on the road at 20mph the steel forks broke off due to the motor torque and went flying off the bike but luckily I ended up doing a roll as I landed which saved me from any injuries never bought a front wheel again rear wheels all the way

Some display controllers have an option in the settings to set wheel size, in case it's wrong. It might also let you switch between kph and mph; what I'd consider if it seems way off for the tire size. Otherwise you can petition for anyone who knows how to calculate speed based on motion in the video.

Thanks for this vid. Dude, could you do a video on your thoughts about chainless bikes? Are they worth it? It's hard to find out anything about them.

In short, if you have the means to replace everything, try it, you might find out it works and you can spend that means on something else. Otherwise, if you don't have the means, don't do it, else you risk wrecking an already expensive investment. Well, maybe it'll still work for pedaling.

FWIW, I won't. I will probably buy a higher capacity 36v battery, then another, then another kit to plug them in together. When I'm ready for a better bike, I'll buy one and resell this one I already own with the additional kit that I bought for it.

You’re probably not going to see much of a difference with that small voltage increase. Go up to 60v and you will get a lot more acceleration and maybe a bit more top speed. I’ve over-volted small 350 watt scooter hubs with 60v and haven’t seen any over heating yet. Been riding for almost a year.

Believe this information at your own risk, overvolting definitely decreases motor life expectancy.

I'm sorry I have to say this but I hate the way you guys ride bikes w/ one foot lower than the bottom bracket..... I've always told people not to do that because you can clip a curb or hit the ground and wipe out and now I see people doing it on electric bikes and it drives me crazy. 😤😡😠😭 😂
