    I've been a Melvins fan for ages but only earlier this year came across a live video of Revolve for some MTV show. In it I noticed the huge hat and was like "what is this!?". Lovely to see this video showing all your hats and talking about them :-)

    Powerful indeed! I felt the power at The Cat’s Cradle, Chapel Hill in ‘96 or 7. Thanks for the history. Very cool.

    Your hat and outfit in the thumbnail. Thats what you were wearing when I saw you with the Melvins on the second stage at Lollapalloza 96 in Irvine, CA. Great gig! The Ramones were playing their second to last set ever at the same time. But I had to choose you guys and see you up close.

    Forgot I was microchanneling Tuco until I was editing ! What a great character. I think he was more sad and frustrated than anything else from having to look after Tio. Legendary performance by Raymond Cruz !

    I always thought you wearing the cowboy hat during your stint with the Melvins was an homage to the Birthday Party’s Tracy Pew.

    Mark, as this struck me whilst visiting some fun Gus the other evening, my question became; If Lemmy was in the room, did you take yours off? I never imagined a hat as a symbol of status, thus I never wear them. Those hats do look cool. And though I never would have appreciated their stylings as a degenerate old hipster in my youth, I have come to appreciate their value as you have explained. They obviously look good on you.

    The only time I was in a room with Lemmy was at Motorhead/Dio/Iron Maiden in the early 2000s, and I was not wearing a hat at the time. Hats are of course making a certain statement, so you have to pick and choose where and when to make that statement. Foul weather is an exception to that, and what hats were ultimately invented for. I feel the main thing is to wear the hat, and not let the hat wear you. Thanks for watching !

    Got that box when it came out ! It's the remixes, but they sound great to me. There's some great video of early Genesis on YT...the whole band was SO good. I'll get to it eventually in the Collection, but it will take a while !

    i had to translate the word incredulously because i am german. nevermind, but then i realised why he rolled his eyes. he thought you didnt take him seriously? Nevertheless i think the way you tell these Storys have such charme, i just loved and enjoyed listening and watching the Video.

    Apologies ! I forget people are listening from everywhere. I did tell Mr.Aldrin that watching him on the moon was one of the best things of my childhood, but maybe after you've heard it 10 million times it doesn't mean much anymore. Thank you for watching !

    What's your stance on straw hats? (Maybe bigger with Latinos/Californians?) And the etiquette, say, of (not) removing a hat indoors or at the dinner table?

  • @MarkDeutrom

    @MarkDeutrom

    10 ай бұрын

    I did forget to mention I have a Stetson Virgin of Guadalupe Shantung also, so I might have to do a quick video on that one. Straws are excellent and of course more lightweight and cooler. The shape you buy is the shape you get. There's no changing it. In Mexico they wear the really big ones. Real Panamas are excellent, and there's no limit to how much you can spend on one. That might be the hat for my old age. I feel you should ALWAYS remove your hat indoors if your are a guest in a private residence, and certainly at the dinner table. In a commercial establishment such as a hotel, bar or venue I don't feel it's as important, but you have to make the call. Just do what they do 1950's cowboy movies and you'll be fine. Remember to put the hat crown down if you put it on a surface to protect the shape of the brim ! Thanks for watching, and for the excellent questions !
