Polestar 4 2025 walkaround preview: New electric car targets Porsche Macan EV - with no rear window!

The 2025 Polestar 4 is already shaping up as a fully electric vehicle to remember. Why? Well, aside from the fact it's looking to go tyre to tyre with the new Porsche Macan EV, it doesn't come with a rear window, such is its commitment to aerodynamic efficiency, all in the name of longer driving range and better handling.
But there's more to the Polestar 4 story than its lack of a rear window, which is replaced by a digital rearview mirror, of course. It will be available from launch with the choice between single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive variants, both of which are keenly priced against the likes of its rival from Stuttgart.

Wouldn’t buy that if you paid me. No rear window, what happens when the camera fails?? How this passes a roadworthy is beyond me. I like tech but not at the expense of commonsense safety

What happens when your turn signals fail... if your brakes fail etc... In all my years / decades of reversing cameras now standard in SUVs / previously not, I have yet to have one fail

A rear view mirror is not compulsory - I have a transit van with a windowless rear doors, there will be millions of vans around the world wit the same setup - what good is a rear view mirror in this instance other than to help the missus to put on her lippy?
Polestar are broke. $1.2 US Billion loss last year. After sales service may not exist soon so it's a risky purchase. In fact all EV's are a risky purchase given their real world appalling impracticality. But at least they can accelerate fast right? Ho hum......

Polestar still has support of the Geely group, unlike Fisker if the individual brand disappears from sales there will still be support from the parent company.

Polestar will never disappear. They got a plan if everything fails. Geely owns it, which means they will just integrate it into volvo and zeekr. It will be a seamless integration too
