Sir why the height of air column is shown less compared to the one at ground Whereas the pressure is low on the mountains

One basic doubt:- We know from our understanding of the pressure belts that the poles have high pressure but when we talk about Polar Vortex we say that there is low pressure at poles. I believe my concepts are skewed. Can you explain whether pressure is high at poles or low. If its high then how come we consider low pressure while explaining the concept of Polar vortex.

Yes when it comes to atmospheric pressure many viewers get same confusion. The thing is that atmosphere is layered and pressure system are always coupled meaning if it's low pressure at surface of earth the it will be high pressure in higher layers. On poles at surface we have high pressure because air descends from upper atmosphere, but Because air descends from upper atmosphere we have low pressure in upper atmosphere. Polar vortex is upper atmosphere phenomenon not related to surface currents. The polar vortex has low pressure i. It as it is in higher layers, while on surface poles have high pressure. At equator the relationship reverses, low pressure on surface high pressure in upper layer. Keep watching n sharing
