    What is difference between a craton, a continental shield and a plate tectonic mass....!! This is the confusing topic for my geology in lithosphere part ...?

  • @zetaupsc

    @zetaupsc

    2 ай бұрын

    Cratons are of two types just like igneous rocks. Shield are extrusive cratons that is cratons which reach upper layer while those cratons which are buried under other rocks are called platforms

    @@zetaupsc ok understood, can you plz tell about tectonic plate....!! I'm confused with those cratons. Because cratons looks like a stable tectonic plate whereas, tectonic plate looks like a unstable cratons 😂😂😂...( I think this is how I can get it )

    Tectonic plates are formed of several types of rocks cratons ais one of it. Tectonic plates have cratons plus other stuff. Cratons are stable meaning there is very less tectonic activity within but cratons do collide and form fold mountains. Aravalli was formed by marwar cratons n bundelkhand craton
