Can origin/ageof the Vindhya and Satpura mountains be explained more elaborately? Earlier a brief mention of this was mentioned in your video of the origin of Himalayas...wrt collision of indian plate with Eurasian continent..Thank you sir..

Can you explain two things: 1). Difference between Hill & Mountains. Please give example (I think you're confusing Hills with Mountains here. 2). Please explain how continental shift actually happened, surely for the viewers it seems impossible to imagine how vast land masses to be floating on ocean until they collide. So mentioning the event process taking how many years to collide actually and the process of continental shift as a wave form & the cause of it.

There is an error. You said Western Ghats were formed when Madagascar separated from India. This is before the Indian plate crossed over the Reunion hotspot. Further the magma flow enhanced the northern part of Western Ghats. Then how come you are saying that the Vindhyas and Satpuras are older than Western Ghats. As they took form after subduction of Indian plate below the Eurasian plate resulted in stress in the Indian plate leading to rift valleys of Narmada and Tapti and horst mountains of Vindhyas and Satpuras.

The vindhyas and satpuras were formed or uplifted around 1.8 billion years ago, while Indian plate collided with Eurasian plate in 60 to 65 millionnyeaes ago. The collision created faults in already existing mountains these faults formed Narmada tapi rift valley. So the rifts were formed around 50 to 40 million years ago but the satpura existed since 1.8 billion years. Moreover the satpura mts were created by collision of north indian block and south indian block
