Polar Bear vs Crocodile - Who Would Win?

Polar Bear vs Crocodile - Who Would Win?
We aren’t just bringing you a fight between two worthy adversaries. It’s a fight between the best of their respective classes. It’s the largest living bear, the polar bear, versus the largest living reptile, the crocodile. It’s a matchup of big on big, two animals that dominate their surroundings, and we’re going to see if one dominates the other.
Who would win in a fight between a polar bear and a crocodile? What’s that battle even going to look like? And where in the world are we going to stage it?

    I feel like polar bear still wins most of the time IMO. Its going to be easier to get the croc on land than the polar in water so I think the mighty polar bear wins most of the time plus the energy of polar bear so he is the ideal winner of this scenario 👍

    If you look at it this way, the polar bear wins: In the arctic, the polar bear wins all the time, 100%. In croc territory, people will say croc always wins in the water (I don’t believe this) while polar bear wins on land. Following these stats, polar bear wins at least 67% of the time. Thus, polar bear wins!!!

    I think the depth of the water would play the biggest effect (save for the artic colds) since if it was just a few feet of water I don't think that it would be a huge buff to the croc. Basically if the bear couldn't touch the bottom he would be boned.

    All things being equal at the waters edge, I would give the advantage to the crocodile. Its top is heavily armored enabling it to survive a few claw swipes and bites from the polar bear as it retreats into the water. Polar bears have been known to be foolish or hungry enough to pursue walrus into the water then end up being gored by those tusk. The bite force of the salty combined with its maneuverability in the water gives it a huge advantage. Game over, croc by death roll.

    This is how I look at it: I will assume both can handle the temperature of the particular environment. To make it fair, let’s say that both the crocodile and the polar bear know that each other is there and that they are both at the bank of a river, let’s say. This is about as fair as I think it can get. Under this scenario, I think the polar bear wins almost all the time. The bear will be too smart, too quick and too too strong for the crocodile. Bears are tough SOBs and can take a lot of punishment. This also goes for a grizzly bears and Kodiak bears.

    Polar bears habitually dive 3-4 meters and for up to 2-3 mins to catch prey. Even if a large salty grabbed the bear in water, the bear would lash out with 3 inch claws and either fatally hurt the croc or scare it away. The bear would also escape as fast as possible as neither would want to tangle after the initial encounter having understood each others strengths. It’s the death role the bear needs to watch out for. Quite possible both would succumb to injuries even after a short encounter as both would suffer massive wounds but advantage bear. A large Kodak grizzly would be even more dangerous for the croc as they’re more aggressive

    @@almac9203 yes it does but that’s mainly on the topside, it’s belt is relatively soft so it depends where the claws hit. Similarly the croc’s bite force at 3000 lbs/sqft is the strongest in the animal kingdom so if it chomped down on the bear, it would likely create a fatal wound but perhaps not immediately. Again, similarly sized and weighed, both would clash briefly and stay clear away from each other. I still think the bear has the added advantages on land for sure but also in water, but who knows? All this is fantasy football! Cheers

    @@stitischannel1963 No it won't. Saltie has a size advtange and a much tougher defence. In order for the polar bear to kill the croc it wouöd need a bite in the throat. However, that makes it very vulnarable for a bite from the croc. That would be immediate death or be fatal in best case scenario

    Think of the way Jaguars and Tigers are able to pounce on a crocodile from behind. Jaguars and Tigers seem to go into the water without fear, you never see a croc taking them in the water. And even in the water if the croc got a hold, the bear would probably be able to smash the snout and jaw of the croc to pieces. I go Polar 80 % or maybe more.

    So think of the polar bear as a lion the size of a buffalo. Now understand that an adult buffalo could kill a croc. This is without biting or ripping with finger knives. Without the Hunter's instinct. If the bear was drinking and the croc got the head, it would win. If the bear was swimming and the croc got the head it would win. Otherwise it would need to pray for a stalemate.

  • @yentasnivla
    @yentasnivla18 күн бұрын

    The crock would probably need to get the head, even if they were in the water. The bear has the wit and weaponry to retaliate. The croc has an overwhelming advantage in the water but may get hurt badly. A walrus is kinda the North Pole comparison to the croc. A desperate bear would try to hunt an adult maybe.
