Pokémon Remakes just changed FOREVER, here's why
Ойындар
Pokémon have completely changed up the way they are going to think about doing remakes of legacy generations in the future, with the recent announcement of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. In this video, I'm going to dive into why I think this is the case.

Conspiracy theory: The entire reason ZA exists is because all of the Pokémon that still aren’t available on the Switch are available in base X & Y. This way, no Pokémon would have to be stuck in permanent Pokémon Home limbo.

But There’s Going To Be Gym Leaders Here Too. So This Makes galar The First Region To Have Gym Leaders At The 19th Century, & Most Of The Gym Leaders Are Ancestors Of The Current Gym Leaders in galar. And The Main Antagonist is The Ancestor Of chairman rose, So This is A Trait Shared With The Descendant chairman rose. So chairman rose Turns Bad Runs From His Ancestor.

More likely: they planned out the availability of Pokemon on the Switch games to spread them across all of those releases to some extent. Why? So you would need to buy at least a version of nearly every Pokemon game on the Switch to be able to actually use all the Pokemon.

My personal conspiracy theory is that they chose to highlight Lumiose City because of the 2024 Olympics taking place in Paris with the Eiffel Tower being referenced in the game. And it's a huge marketing strategy.
I agree, Gen 5 will be hard to remake but BDSP is a BAD template of how to do a remake. It WASN'T a faithful remake as it DIDN'T have the same moves, same movesets, same everything. On the other side, it wasn't even an improvement either. You had to download half the game onto your console at launch, which makes it anti-future proof, and that's a bad move for consumers.

@@galariangoldthey mean that when the switch servers go out, like the 3DS and Wii U servers recently did, that BDSP will be Unable to download the Day-1 Patch. which includes the entire OST actually being remixed instead of MIDI tunes, an actual post-game, as you’re unable to go to the Battle Zone (Battle Tower and Heatran) before the Day 1 patch, and other things too. So with the Day-1 patch being unable to be downloaded in the future, the games will be forever unfinished. Not to mention how glitchy BDSP was at launch too. You neglected to address ORAS formally establishing the multiverse in Pokemon. Zinnia references an alternate universe that would be destroyed by Grand Meteor Delta if it were warped there to protect the ORAS world, implied to be Gen 3 Hoenn. (Which by all accounts turned out to be a relative nothingburger, seeing as Deoxys landed safely on Birth Island with no apparent harm done, but I digress.)

Pokémon has always had a multiverse, else there's no way to explain story differences between e.g. Ruby and Sapphire. That said, It's much more expansive than that. While the timelines are mainly divided into the "Mega branch" and "pre-Mega branch", the device that would be used to connect to another dimension is called the Link Cable. For anyone unaware, this is the real-world add-on you used to connect two Game Boys back in the days, implying not only every game version is a separate timeline, but every single _save file_ is a "canonical" timeline. The gen 7 games took the multiverse stuff even further, where you can travel between the Sun and Moon versions of Alola _in the same game._ Later in USUM there's also the whole Team Rainbow Rocket storyline, where you fight previous generations' villains from timelines where they won (Maxie and Archie even have their original character designs).

I think they want to use unova to launch in gen 10 alongside the new consoles and Johto would either become also a game in gen 10 like how gen 9 has the mainline gamea scarlet and violet, BDSP as remakes and legends arceus, well now it also gets legends Z-A, Z-A is probably there to fill in the blanks and help circle back onto the ORAS remakes by allowing them to go backwards Z is afterall the last letter in the alphabet and A is the first so you could read Z-A as from Z to A, meaning the plot may be something like they want to re-redevelope lumios city, this brings the play to the last time this happened and gives some expansion on Zygarde, Zygarde and megas seem to be kinda important in this story considering the theme of modernisation, redevelopement and the A looking like AZ's weapon, this may suggest that we will revisit old history like in XY to prevent the predicaments of the same mistakes being made again. I think thats why they are doing what they are doing, they arent planning anymore one game at a time but multiple games at a time to tell new stories but also enrich the old stories, they probably want to take Gen 10 and the new consoles to modernise the franchise so they take the region that started the megatimeline to build off of, go to the last soft reboot and finish the loop the remake of what originally was meant to be the franchises end.

also we’ve only had BDSP for like 3 years now, why did everyone forget remakes don’t come out for a good while after a remake drops? we probably wouldn’t get BW remakes for like another 4 years at least and why is everyone acting like because we are getting a zygarde spin off game that means they skipped over gen 5 or that gamefreak is “changing the way remakes work”
@derpthebugbear
27 күн бұрын
Yep, gen 5 is still the next likely remake. Every time a remake has come out, it's been on a new console, after the first mainline Generation game. GBA comes out, Gen 3 released, followed by Gen 1 the next year. DS comes out, Gen 4 released, followed by Gen 2 remake 3 years later but before the next Gen. 3DS comes out, Gen 6 released, followed by Gen 3 remake the next year. Switch comes out, Gen 8 released, followed by Gen 4 remake 2 years later but before the next Gen. If there's a new console in 2025, then Gen 10, then we'll probably see a Gen 5 remake shortly after. With a new console coming soon(possibly 2025), I could see Gen 5 remake around 2027 with 2026 being DLC year for Gen 10, to reflect the DLC release windows of Gens 8 and 9. This is similar to the past couple of release cycles. Switch launches Gen 8 late 2019 Gen 8 DLC 2020 Gen 4 Remake 2021 ----------------------------- PL:A early 2022 Gen 9 late 2022 Gen 9 DLC 2023 Nothing so far 2024 ----------------------------- New console launches 2025 PL:ZA early 2025 Gen 10 late 2025 Gen 10 DLC 2026 Gen 5 Remake 2027 So it makes sense to anticipate Gen 5 remakes sometime soon, but certainly not as soon as some people are thinking. And I agree that thinking that they're skipping 5 is strange, and it's pretty big speculation on their part. There's speculation, then there's WILD speculation, and for some reason the Pokemon community seems to prefer WILD speculation. lol
I don't think the Legends games were ever supposed to follow the same chronological order as mainline games, Legends ZA's announcement probably doesn't mean much when it comes to remakes. I'd be shocked if gen 5 didn't get a remake in 2027 during gen 10 as the usual pattern suggests (hopefully it will be an actual improvement over the original and not the same game with chibi characters and HD graphics). As for Johto I also don't think it has to get a second remake, Let's Go was mostly made in order to get Pokemon Go players into the main series

Maybe one day we’ll have a game that has all 10 generations in one core game. Then maybe DLCs for new regions and Pokémon. Each region you go through gives you achievements and keep your prior Pokémon but you can only use the Pokémon in the region to go through that specific region. So just like the anima you essentially start over with new Pokémon for the journey but you can battle online with everything you collect. That way each gym leader scales to your current team. There’s so much potential. Travel on joint adventures with friends. You both can’t choose the same starter but you can get benefits for traveling together vs soloing the adventure. More exp. Etc. exclusive items. Battle gyms in the same time frame. Then move on to new cities together. Go to new towns. Battle eachother to level up. Repeat gym battles Maybe even in game rewards from running a gym and defending it vs adventuring More as an elite 4 member. They would never do that. But I think the future is making one core open world game. Make that game really sharp in graphics and presentation. Then add DLCs over the course of 2-3 years. Until we get to current gen. People would have so much fun gradually making their way to gen 10. Base game has Kanto. Then in 3- 4 months we get johto. Etc. If Pokémon plays it well they can do something similar to what fortnite does but even better. Keep the core game the same. Update it to fix bugs and modernize it. You don’t have to recreate a new game every 3-4 years. But where you make your money is on DLC content and cosmetics. Specialized poke balls designs. Outfits. Accessories for your Pokémon to wear. Use the money you acquire to buy houses in certain regions. Etc. so much potential.

That's only a technical byproduct of the game's being remade. It's true, but it's not likely they were thinking about it like that. Which is why I think GameFreak is only really acknowledging things related to Mega evolution as a separate timeline. You could probably include the anime as a timeline as well since it's still an ongoing series, that has affected the games from time to time lol I think what the video helps point out is that GameFreak cares about its world building but won't let that get in the way of a feature they want to try. from a 'lore' perspective the Let's go games allowed them to show how different that world is. The game is based more on yellow because they're making a casual version of red and blue, which they already remade. The original timeline is the Gen 3 versions because this and Gen 4 is when they started caring about continuity, like it was said in the video, they didn't expect Pokémon to last outside of the original Gameboy systems.
This was an interesting pov in terms of making a more faithful remake so as not to break to current lore alongside a Legends game which can further enhance that gens lore. I'm glad this video showed up on my feed 😊

Another key point I don't see many people addressing is how the legends games can be used as their story based mythical Pokémon distribution. Pokémon like Darkrai and Shaymen were schoolyard legends only achievable through action replay until legends (and eventually BDSP events) and for years they were some of the few Pokémon I had been unable to collect. Legends Z-A have the opportunity to release research tasks to get Pokémon like Volcanion Hoopa and Diance which all are difficult to collect without occasional events on Pokémon go or hacking, and I have a great deal of hope that that will change with Legends Z-A.
Definitely a perspective about the remakes I hadn't considered. Well articulated video

Not going to lie, I would love to see the let’s go franchise go into all the third games from a Gen like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, etc., Legends should continue to explore the mythical Pokemon and there should also be remakes of the gens like BW3, Z, Gen7 (Eclipse). Will make a ton of money with me at least.
Give me a Legends: Mew/Two, where you follow the story lines of Mew and a human counterpart while simultaneously following a Team Rocket Grunt and the creation of Mewtwo (maybe TR Grunt and ancestor are connected?). I’d love to see Gen 1 do something with Mew since it hasn’t really been touched upon, other than as a random dlc. Plus, seeing things from a Team Rocket perspective witness Giovanni go absolutely bonkers over the creation of Mewtwo would be a compelling creative spin!
Again I want to say it for anybody just in case they forgot remakes are once per console generation and they usually happen when a new generation is going to launch to
Obviously gen 5 remakes are coming gen 10 smh
I still rather have remakes that are made with the idea of making the same game but up to the current Gen's standards. The fact that visually ORAS is just a way better looking game than what BDSP were is really a huge letdown. And even in that chibi style they should have done a lot more for the environments and background details. Like you said there should have also been a lot more content added especially since how scaled back this remake is compared to past remakes. BDSP being given to another company to do the legwork with GF's supervision mixed with what we got really does make BDSP feel like a "budget" Remake. This comes from someone who loves Legends Arceous and is glad we got it but hopefully now future legend games will be like Z-A and not need a remake to pair it with.
Honestly I glad they finally acknowledge gen6 with a legends remake
The whole pokemon was only supposed to be 2 generations is a mistranslation. When they were making gen 2 they already knew they were gonna continue pokemon as long as they could, what Ishihara meant was something akin to he could only work on the games directly for 2 gens.
We all know BDSP wasn’t limited to make the story cohesive - was limited so the company could continue to pump out/cash in on as many games as possible.
Personally, I hope this means remakes are done. BDSP basically destroyed my faith in remakes, and I consider them the worst remakes for the same reasons you praised them. Pokemon remakes are different from other game remakes - they bring older generations up to the modern standard, in terms of mechanics, graphics, and lore, and BDSP just didn't do that. No Pokemon past Sinnoh were available, the graphics didn't match SWSH at all, and the only mechanics brought over was the addition of the Fairy-type. Unlimited TMs were scrapped, TRs made no showing, Daimax and Kyōdaimax weren't in the game at all, and nothing referenced the third version Platinum in the main story. And this isn't to get into the horrifying large day one patch which had such things as the music, the opening screen, AND THE POST GAME. When this game is as old as DPPt were when BDSP was made, DPPt will be objectively the better titles because the Switch won't have support if anyone gets the game for the first time.
I started with the original RBY, but SGC, was just even more and a little more expanded. Some of the Pokémon even felt more realistic. gen 3 definitely started to show lack of creativity and I haven’t played Pokémon since then. That being said, RSE are still good games. Why can’t Nintendo do a classic style Pokémon game with all regions and all Pokémon with some kind of balance or changes to not make you too OP by the time you switch regions. As well as make it so you don’t have to follow a linear path between regions.
I'd say a Pokemon Colosseum definitive edition or adding onto the Colosseum story with gameplay adding onto the unique qualities of the switch would be much needed and would be very fun to play on. It would also be in harmony with steering from comfort creating to tapping into some of the origins and more of the Pokemon world and trainers alike
Great video ❤
This video goes ride-or-die with the philosophy of Legends being a remake instead of a spinoff/Unconventional. _("Unconventional" refers to spinoffs that are still in the mainline series)_ B2W2 also filled a role similar to Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum, in lieu of a Gray that some people were expecting and even _looking forward to._ It presents a logistical issue, however, in that we're asking for too much if we expect Game Freak to see both halves of the story remade come Unova Revisit Season. I'd instead expect a Black 3 and White 3. SV's DLC was a "Unova revisit" in name only. IIRC there were no gen-5 trainers that came back; only references to them. Hell, Legends Arceus did that better by flinging one of the Subway trainers into Hisui. It would probably be easier to write off the "Unova revisit" claim as a lie. IIRC back when we got ORAS we were told by someone at Game Freak that it _was_ our "Pokemon Z".
somehow i think they actually wanna bring Unova remake to Mega timeline, but before that they have to cook the original source first, to add more Mega pokemon, to add more Mega lore. So after Leven Z-A when the Unova remake come it will include a mega Evolution gimmick there, not like BDSP
You know this is a very great take and well considered. Hats of to you man. I remember being so frustrated and confused during the hype season of gen 4 remakes. I felt very much in the headspace to play a cool Pokémon game again since it had been a while since ORAS. And I remembered those times fondly. So when time came for gen 4 I was hyped. I wanted to experience that start to finish instead of in retrospect. So when no news came of new additions, new megas or any other cool new gimmick. I felt let down in some way. Later on Arceus did surprise me obviously and I slowly started to realize those games had done what I wanted from gen 4 remakes. But not entirely. And it wasn't the same as ORAS. But after all this time this explanation makes sense and somehow brings a weird closure to this question I had lol. Not that it's an important one. But a curiosity I had pondered nonetheless.

Man I love this and I'm glad I could somehow help
I wanna see gen 5 with updated graphics. And I hope they include bw2. That was such a great game
I think with gen 5 another sequel is the best way to go about it since with blueberry we already have a black3/white3 set up as a lot of the blueberry students are likely going to be gym leaders someday, I feel as if we will get a black3/white3 instead of a legends game as it is an opportunity they probably won't have for a while otherwise
legends aren't remake titles
The only thing that i hated about bdsp was that they took out so much for the underground they got rid of capture the flag setting traps for other players and furniture for your secret base to make it a nice little home
I would hazard a guess that since the GEN two remakes and GEN five games are amongst the most loved by the fan base, game freak is unwilling to destroy our expectations an image of those games, while Kalos is one of the lease liked regions, they'd like to try and bone that up.
Given that Kalos is based on France, it would make a lot of sense if we would also see Galarian pokemon Galar being based on UK. It could delve into the history of the war mentioned in The XY games which could even have been a Kalos vs Galar thing (matching the many wars fought between France and Britain)

I like how the trailer says release simultaneously when its only a switch so that pretty much says the new one switch 2 will share the games!
Really want a gen 5 remake but a interesting way to Remake gen 1 and 2 would be to do a new connection storyline. The personal choice would be Current day, 25 to 30 years after Red and blue. You got 2 mirror paths starting there journeys in Kanto or Johto. The Starter line would be Exclusive to the Regions game you start. Pokemon Johto or Pokemon Kanto. Also add in all Pokemon connection to these gen from other gens, (Ex. Honchkrow or Rhyperior) and add more to boost type, Ghost, Dragon, Steel and Faeries, to the game as well
I'm really curious if we get a game this year, which one it will be because it would make more sense to get something johto related this year, something unova related next year as it's the 15th anniversary of unova and in 2026 gen 10. That would break the normal release cycle of pokemon so I'm not too sure if they'll do it this way but it would be cool :D
Personally I'd love to see something combined, red, blue, & yellow with gold, silver, and crystal combined but as a sort of sequel taking place years later. What changes could poketech make? It's difficult to get our hands on the old games to play them anymore. I'd love to play HG and SS but can't get my hands on a copy.
I loved the black and white games and cant wait to play them again on the switch hopefully
your bit about legends expanding barely talked about pokemons opened my eyes on why we're getting legends z-a (before kyurem, for example), bc zygarde was basically an afterthought in xy; it got extra stuff in sun/moon but that's not where the fella is from, and isn't giving a real role to zygarde either; he has no role given, and he's the only one in a box legendary trio to have that problem (giratina had platinum, kyurem had b2w2, necrozma had ultra s/m); so now he's finally getting some damn lore relevancy thru the upcoming game
The developers are NOT going to make remakes of Black/White, X/y, Ultra sun etc anymore.
Hot take: But with the reveal of the new console last night, I'm happy with this direction now. As a Gen 5 FANATIC, I hope the new console does justice and it's able to generate some crazy landscapes. Unova is a beautiful region with a shit ton of architecture. If the remakes were done like EVERYBODY wants them to be done, it'd either have to be like Z-A and be based in one single city which would be a shame, or Legends Arceus style doing a prequel before the buildings were there to maintain the game. It'd be like trying to run GTA V on a DS
Isn’t the new z/a supposed to be a redeployment so that means sequels instead of prequels?
Always wanted a Legends Kyurem game cause I feel like the lore behind the original dragon still hasn't been answered at all, like we only know about the separation but not what it looked like or where it came from and such
Plus 1 billion points for National Park Theme in the background
It's not just a Pokémon thing, Nintendo does the same with Metroid and Zelda.
In terms of timeline I always interpreted there were 3 timelines in mainseries (5 if you wanna get strict) The Primary Timeline: Red and Blue --> Gold and Silver --> Ruby and Sapphire etc. The Enhanced Timeline: Yellow --> Crystal --> Emerald etc. (USUM is on this timeline) The Remake Timeline: FRLG --> HGSS --> ORAS --> BDSP The Enhanced Remake Timeline: Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Legends Arceus can be seen as an origin story, like how the movie Wonka is the origin story for Willy Wonka as a character, and is not specific to Johnny Depp or Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka. This will likely be the same for Legends Z-A.
I'm just gonna say that, pokemon games can still be announced for this year. There are many pokemon games revealed outside of pokemon day.
Are my old pokemon gone forever now? I would assume so. I never got around to using pokemon bank lol. I’m moreso asking if there are like workarounds still or if it’s really just not possible. I’m not particularly upset but it’s a shame many memories will stay put on the original cards

As of right now you can still use Pokémon Bank but chances are it won't be possible for too much longer
Gen 2 with subscription or remake for the switch, the point is to play Gen 2,an old game in a new console
Oooor the Legends series is its own thing and people should stop assuming they skipped a generation before the next main series game is even announced
if pokemon doesnt get faithful remakes that makes me a very sad panda
I can’t wait to see when my kids grow up and discover their Pokémon gen of where it started. Soon as I say to them I’m a gen1 with charmander as my favorite and their response is damn you old.
Personally I feel that Pokemon opted to jump to gen 6 because that is the only generation to not receive a sequel or additional content and ignored making another remake of gen 2 since although it wasn’t a remake they did a rerelease of gen 2 on the virtual console for the 3DS and will likely make it available again on their next console that is supposed to be closer to the 3DS with having two screens.
Gen 1 was remade in gen 3 Gen 2 was remade in gen 4 Gen 3 was remade in gen 6 Gen 4 was remade in gen 8 Gen 5 should if it follows patterns be remade in gen 10 The only thing that doesn't fit the pattern is gen 1 being remade in gen 3 but there wasn't any reason to remake it in gen 2 because it was still the same hardware. I think if people are patient and wait for gen 10 we will have gen 5 remade right on schedule. Also agree with the other comment that said Xand Y are the games with the last old gen pokemon that weren't on the switch so it would make sense to make a side game to get those mons out of pokemon bank hell
i just realised the gameboy advance price is the same as AAA games today
they dont change the format they added it with more games. besides of gen 1 remake in gen 2 and gen 2 remakes in gen 4 was there always a 2 year gap and 2 gens between and 2 gens and 1 remake on every Consol DS: gen 4, gen 2 remake, gen 5 3DS: gen 6, gen 3 remake, gen 7 Switch: gen 8, gen 4 remake, gen 9 so its normaly that on the switch 2 comes the gen 10 first, then the gen 5 remakes and then the gen 11 and so on. Legends games and other spinoffs dont count really in this and can come every time GF or Nintendo wants it. dont watch the Legends game as a remake. Its not. This are betas for a better Open world games until GF knows how to make the best open world game for the main games.

so glad so you said this! i couldn’t understand why everyone is treating legends Z-A as a remake when all it is , is a spin off game. it’s weird everyone is acting like gamefreak/pokémon just skipped over gen 5 when that isn’t the case at all (also gen 4 remakes came out like 3 years ago so why would we get gen 5 remakes this soon)

The let's go games and Legends Arceus ARE mainline pokemon games btw. So switch has Gen 7: Gen 1 remake (Lets Go games), and Gen 8: Gen 4 remakes (BDSP) so yes the format did change at least once. :).

@@Goro_Maj1ma i know, but if you look on them you can count them more as something like Pokemon rangers, PMD and else. and nothing like RBGY, GSC, RSE, DPP and else. but yes, they are main games. but do they look like mainlines?

@@Goro_Maj1ma | I classify Let's GO and Legends Arceus as Unconventionals: Main-line games that don't play like main-line games. Colosseum (GCN) might've been the first Unconventional since it didn't have wilds, but Let's GO and Legends Arceus are basically what molded the categroy.
Pokémon had a rule. You make two games. And a third. Up till Gen 4. They made one remake per console generation and starting Gen 5 they made one sequel pair and continue forth. Gen 6 they considered a pokémon Z but moved to sun and moon along with their sequel/remake Legends was to add a new gameplay style to pokémon
At this point, gen 5 is so esthetically perfect that I'd rather get a port or nintento online ds app to emulate them officially on switch with home support and online features returned. Remaking them would be a waste imo. At most, I'd be cool with a remaster that makes the layered sprites a bit smoother or something like the square Enix HD2D games that still uses the original sprite work just touched up a bit for higher resolution. Legends kyurem being the actual new unova game then would be perfect so we can go back to the time of the twin princes and see the story behind the complete original dragon before it split into the Tao Trio. I've been begging gamefreak to give us the original dragon since bw2 when we only got to see the incomplete fusion.
The mega timelone is one story while the seconda timeline is the one within Gen 9
I didn’t care so much for BDSP because I outgrew Pokémon. My last Pokémon game was Black and White 2, since it was the last game for the DS. (Me only having a DS lite) So when BDSP came out, wearing my rose color glasses, I bought a switch and both Shiny pearl (since pearl was my first game I ever played) and legend Arceus, since I heard you can get arceus in Shiny pearl if you had the game. Like you said before, BDSP are faithful remakes, but I just couldn’t get into it since I didn’t keep up with the changes that Pokémon games made over the years. (Like not needing a HM slave) Everything felt so similar except the few changes that I had a hard time adapting to. While PLA was easy to get into because everything was new and I learned the controls in a natural way.
It bugs me gens 1 and 3 got huge amounts of extra content in remakes but gen 2 and 4 hardly got anything.
They finally started their open world all they need to do now is make it an actual mmo.
I think they just realize how bad it will look to have a remake of gen 6 that has the same models from gen 6 but with less pokemon due to dexit. It would simply be a worse version of gen 6
I have a couple of problems with this video. 1st I don't think the main reason gen one got a remake in gen 3 was due to dropping sales. Maybe. But I feel it was mostly due to gen 3 not having every pokemon as competing the pokedex is a big deal in pokemon. 2nd I don't believe they made Legends due to a convoluted time line. From the beginning pokemon has had multiple versions of the game with different variations of what happened. The gen 3 remakes didn’t really change that. In fact gen 3 made it more clear how the pokemon lore more solid by making every version of the game a separate universe. Now we aren't asking if there's only 1 mewtwo and I caught it how is it in a cave in kalos? They even leaned into that with gen 7 and ultra space. I firmly believe that Legends was them testing the waters with a new style of game. And beside the fact that if they were focused on not messing up the time line they wouldn't make the MC of the game a time traveler... 3rd while I agree that if any region needed more lore and content it would be gen 6. I don't beileve that gen 5 didn’t need it. I think gen 5 would have made for the best legends game or even a black 3. As we never saw the full dragon. Which a game could have been done on it splitting in legends and in a remake with a new story could have shown it fully merging together. And to further my point while gen 6 never got dlc or a 3rd version like every other region. We still got the Zygarde forms. I've been waiting for the original dragon for over a decade and now gen 5 is getting skipped over. I kid you not my day was ruined when that direct came out. And them relegating gen 5 to a couple of nostalgic clips on their youtube channel the next day was the straw that broke the camels back. I immediately unsubscribed and purged all pokemon content in my feed for weeks after that. As you can see I'm now watching pokemon stuff again but I truly don't think I will play legends Z-A. Especially since I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay of legends the catching, crafting and quests are nice. But the pokedex is tedious(oh and thats how you progress the game), the battle mechanics are awful, and the lack classic mechanics like breeding, held items and abilities just make it less fun. I might have been happy with a legends game simply for the lore of the Original dragon but after this I just don't know. I just don't feel any sort of hype for pokemon right now.
Gameboy games got released for the gameboy advance. GBC games got remade for the Nintendo DS. GBA games got remade for the 3ds. NDS games got remade for the switch. Following this trend, I think the Gen 5 or last of the NDS games will be relased for the Switch series, and after, GEN 6 will be for whatever console is in the horizon.
But if I think of BDSP and Legends Arceus together as “the remake,” then I can’t justify spending $180 to tell the story of Platinum but with still some downgrades in BDSP. It’s all good and well to see them as parts of a broader narrative, but that doesn’t make it a better product, especially not for the exorbitant price.

Glad you enjoyed it thank you!
I just want Unova with updated graphics. I feel like an addict waiting for it
Color my silly, but Pokemon cant last for forever. I am glad to see someone who shares the view of gen 5. I much rather them expand on gen 6. Since we never got a proper follow up/sequel. (Then again I am biased. Gen 6 is what made me enjoy Pokémon again.) Sidenote: I still think it is possible to add gen 5 as an add on to the new ZA game. Either directly (like the original Gold/Silver) or a DLC.
im still waiting for the ulitmate pokemon games were u can play all genz and fight all the gym leaders and also can have all the pokemons
What if the gen 6 game is a way to bring megas back for good the changing gimmicks has to start making lure confusing as well
I like your balanced take of BDSP tied with Legends Arceus. As someone who played both, BDSP did not ruin Gen 4 remakes for me. Ofc, BDSP would've done far better as a faithful remake if it also included Platinum features. Even I wouldn't be mad if Dialga and Palkia were marketed as the legendaries in BDSP but were actually red herrings because Giratina was actually the true center and the climax of the narrative, making Dialga or Palkia as more elusive legendaries and catchable later.
Gen 6 is the only region without a remake like Black & White did right after its first game 🤷🏿♂️ why can’t people expect Kalos Remakes.?. Not only that XY was forgotten right after the year it came out thanks to ORAS.
Imagine Gen 5 remakes where the monkey trio have their tails wagging in your face as you send them out. Yuck!
We can still revisit regions without having to use the same story over and over too. It’s okay for a a fictional continent to have more than one tale gamefreak.
I haven't finished the video, I'm at 11:04 yet I gotta say you're the ONLY one I've ever seen not throwing 💩 at BDSP and I'm here for it.

Bdsp is the best remake Believe it or not
TBH I don’t expect something extravagant on remakes. This is why I enjoyed BDSP. It’s a faithful remake, want something new? Wait for the next gen.
They just need to re-release heartgold and souldsilver on the switch.
If they had any sence they'd make a gen 1 and 2 remake but a sequelized type of game where the story is fully fleshed and acted by genuine anime voice actors. Problem with the 3d upgrade is the erm since stadium even the battles just feel empty like stale
Legends Z-A is not a remake just like Legends Arceus wasn't a remake either. Also, remakes always happen in the generation that doubles the one being remade gen 2-gen 4, gen 3-gen 6, gen 4-gen 8 so logically the gen 5 remake won't happen until gen 10, I don't know why people refuse to understand this, we don't get a remake each gen.
I loved heartgold. If we can a new johto game in let's go pika style or brilliant diamond/ shining pearl style. It would be amazing...
Why do you think Gen 2 would(!) even get a second remake? Every gen gets 1 remake, that‘s it?!
