Another amazing video! Thanks, Mike!
That Activity Monitor really helps. Very cool!
Bought this few days ago, not delved into how it works yewt so watching this, I did try the VCA clip section which seemed like magic. how it clips that hard and sounds almost the same as off is beyond my understanding.
It’s good to have this in my comp collection. I’ve been using ds1-mk3, drawmer 1973, and unisum for mastering. Will buy this when it’s on sales. Thanks for the video!
Wooow....the mixing journey is amazing with mike 🙌🏾
This one I use mainly for mastering, together with the AMEK 200/ 250, great combo. These days I use, on every track ex busses, the Lindell 50 channel strip. Beautiful. On the busses mainly the Lindell SBC or SSL G bus compressor.
Hey Mike, Just re-capping on this compressor, great explanation as always. Definitely a little tricky to get your head around at first, although surprisingly rather easy to grasp once I’ve started playing with it. Definitely a very powerful tool, especially on vocals. Cheers, Jamie
I appreciate your tutorial. It was really helpful.

Straight facts !
Much needed video. Regarding knee in general for compressors - doesn't a softer knee mean the compression curve gradualy starts before the threshold? Rather than just increases post threshold? Please correct me if I have it wrong I always took it to work in the same way softening a clipper would work, presuming thats right too! Thanks Mike (or whoever answers)
Can’t seem to find a video of you covering the Amek 9099 console. Given you seem very positive about other consoles from bx/PA, I wondered if there were any particular reasons for this. Many thanks :)
I've tried it and I think it's ok for some things but it's not great, for me UNISUM from Tone Projects is still the best mastering compressor out there in plugin format.

Same. I have Unisum so this is a pass for me. Not to say that its not nice, but I prefer Unisum.

I hoped you guys finally changed your mind. This Amek compressor is in a league of its own. It’s the only software compressor that ever shocked me when I used it in a mix. Breathtaking to say the least.
i really like AMC because 1. it is not heavily coloured = versatile 2. can do mild compression to crazy compression 3. fast and peak knob can carefully control transient. But i dont like the compression from it is not very smooth , has some kind of transient smearing. AA Tiger's compression is very smooth, but can't get result as quickly as AMC
Nice! Nice? Nice...
Question. I just picked this master compressor up and came to YT to look for any tutorial videos. I enjoyed your video immensely but then I heard that lovely track you are using as your signal. Has this track been released by the artist yet?

Another good video Mike. Won`t purchase this until it goes down to $29... Looks good but I`ve got enough hardware and software options for now.

Says Pro Tools in the upper left hand corner.
Got it for 69 bucks. It is not my favourite mixbus comp. It could be more useful for single tracks or buses such as drums, bass and vocals. For a master it adds too much lows it seems, making it thicker. That is the basic vibe of it.
