Great review! So far Brainworx have used this technology to emulate vintage hardware, and with great success. This is the first “device” they have created on their own, and I think their choice of previous pieces to draw from is excellent. This is a great quick review that covers both functions and sound. I agree that it’s probably their most fully functional channel strip that would appeal to the broadest range of users. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great tutorial!! I have been diving into a bunch of channel strips (more than I want to admit) but after tinkering with SSL 4000 E/G, UAD API, Slate VMR, Scheps Omni 2, Lindell 1073/1084, etc, I've come to really enjoy using this one. To my ear, it has some similarities to the SSL 4000 but the amount of modern touches it has makes it kind of a "one size fits all" vibe. Depends on the type of music you mix (I'm mixing rock) but it has a nice punch to it for modern drums/vocals/guitars. Might not be your go-to if you are mixing jazz or lighter stuff. For those, I might lean more on the 4000 E/G or 1073/1084 style strip which is why I'd keep those strips around. My only suggestion in future versions is to maybe steal a bit from VMR or Scheps to allow some customization of the layout or even being able to add/remove components. Maybe some won't want to have the VCA clipping or stereo width/mono maker. Maybe they might want to only have the compressor and EQ for a smaller GUI. Just a thought.

Channel strips are great time-savers, giving you most of what you need to get a channel to work. I still use the Focusrite SC and the AMEK 9099 strips on my mixes and they work fine. Great video!

I have the SC and I've been thinking about getting the 9099, then I learned about this 200. I feel like the Focusrite does a great job, but I'm constantly curious about other workflows. Have you tried the 200? What do you like about the 9099 over the SC?

@@RyanHarris77 I have both the 9099 and the 200. They do great jobs and are very flexible. The 9099 is like a swiss army knife of channel strips; pretty much everything you need is in there. The 200 is very cool and modern, a different work flow compared to the others. The SC is not as powerful as the others, but once you get all the parameters down, you know how to get the sound you want.

@@RyanHarris77In my experience the 200 gives me a much beefier sound. Can very easily blow a signal up too much, so you gotta be careful with it. But if you use it right it’s gorgeous. It’s my go to channel strip now. I’ve tried the 9099 and SC. Wasn’t a fan of the SC at all and the 9099 is good, but didn’t give me the same body that the 200 provides. Only time I use the 9099 now is if I’m mixing chilled acoustic songs that don’t need so much weight

Thanks for another thorough and well informed video Mike! I'm interested to know what channel strip you'd reach for if you put this new AMEK 200 up against the AMEK 9099?? Cheers 👍🏻

does the plugin have some kind of linear phase, I heard that 8200 eq do great job in retaining the transients and phase shift, may I ask for your opinion on that please?
