" PLAB - Getting Started " by The Doctors in UK

As promised, we touch on one of the most hot topics, the PLAB. We explore the basics of the exam, the steps, the kind of preparation and structure, its future and its scope. We cover the following points
- What is the PLAB ?
- What level to take it and where you start in the UK with it?
- Prerequisites & Validity of IELTS / OET for PLAB
- Preparing for - PLAB 1 and 2
- PLAB to UKMLA
- What happens once you pass PLAB ?
To cover all this we have a special guest - Dr Aprajita Sinha (DOMS, DNB(Ophth), FICO, MRCSEd(Ophth)) who has recently cleared her PLAB steps and has shared keen insights on how she went about succeeding at it !!
Addendum - It is indeed the Academic version of the IELTS that one must take for the PLAB with an average band of 7.5 overall and at least 7 in each of the 4 sections.
We understand that one may have many more questions besides these and we would be more than happy to help anyone/everyone with whatever doubts and queries they might have, so feel free to drop us an email at
yourmentor121@gmail.com
or on our Facebook page or in the comments down below.

After PLAB exams you enter the health system and like any other trainee go through the phase of being SHO, clearing MRCS and completing other requirements and then getting a training number to it's completion

That's something you must confirm with the GMC if they recognise your MBBS training. GMC helplines are generally very good and prompt. However, your question is confusing as your asking about India and also UK at the same time ??

MRCS is an exam and not a degree and yes, they only require a MBBS degree to apply for it.

Hello, a quick question. Can we upload the duplicate result of MRCS part B for EPIC verification ? Or is there any certificate that RCS issues later, which needs to be uploaded? Kindly help

  • @adityamalik441

    @adityamalik441

RCS issues a degree certificate. YOu can email RCS and ask for it. If they have not issued it yet or are not ready to, best to ask GMC itself wether part B scores are accepted for epic verification for the purpose fo GMC registration. I got my degree verified, when it was sent, rather than the marksheets. I also understand that you can get any document verified through EPIC. their job is to verify documents only. What purpose they serve will reply on the body asking for it.

The biggest conundrum .. however, I'm inclined to say that if one is clear that they wish to settle in the UK, then might be just a tad bit better to move here early and get familiarised with the system sooner.
