Childminder s are certified childcare providers ( similar to Creche in subcontinent). They run the childcare setting from their homes and cater to small number of children. They are Ofsted inspected as well and rated. The local council will register them as well. And many times help in before, afterschool clubs and school runs.

Hi Sujay, we try and split the work between us as per availability of our own schedules and i was working that particular weekend. Also, I think Anirudh and Aditya are are better suited to talk about this topic than me !! Ekansh. 😂

It depends whether your training has on calls or not. If it is a speciality with no out of hours or night shifts or weekend shifts. Then you should be able to manage with childminder/adhoc nanny, before and after school club s. If you will do on calls as part of training , then you will have to find nanny for those nights and weekends which will be quite an expensive proposition as a single parent. Almost all you earn will go in it, if not more. I am afraid, it will be difficult proposition to be a single parent and manage childcare for nights and weekend on calls

Really informative Could you tell how to manage if both parents have night duties or long duties?

You just need to be on top of both your rota s and make sure either of you exchange the on calls or weekends that clash. Just needs some advance planning. You can either let the rota master know not to put you on certain days or in cases where there is a fixed pattern of on calls, one of the spouse needs to mutually exchange with other colleagues.
