The sound of Gael and Pict hearts beating, as recorded at Harvard Medical. The air itself burns with a blue flame when the Celtic fury shines in our eyes. May Heaven help the one who lights that fire; he'll need it if he is to escape with his life and mind.

Such fantastic music. This just makes my heart pound. Have visited Scotland twice now, want to come back a third time. My family left Campbelltown in Kintyre for the "colonies" in 1772.

'Googled' the group Clanadonia, as there was a familiar ring to their playing. Saw a video of them, and realized that I had seen one of their street performances in Glasgow last year. We all stood and enjoyed them for quite a while. Thanks for bringing back that memory!

Wonderful, stirring! Is there a technical or musical name for the constant pipe note in the background? It's one of the things that makes me love the pipes so much. I love Scotland, especially the area I know best - Wester Ross (Hello Glenelg!) For a time in WWII my father served in the famous and gallant 51st Highland Division. When he went home other guys would pull his leg, seeing 'HD' on his shoulder, thinking he was in Home Defence. Because of wartime security rules he couldn't put them in their place by telling them he was in the Highland Division!

The answer you were given was correct. the continuous pitch you hear is from the three pipes (referred to as 'Drones') that lie over the pipers shoulder and they are normally tuned to 'D' on the pipers chanter. This can change depending on whether the piper is playing with other pipers ( referred to as 'Standard Pitch) or whether they are playing with other musical instruments or an orchestra (referred to as Concert Pitch)

Well Tu-Bardh, as in Tu-Bardh Wilson, is the name of the drummer for the group. So I can only assume the song was named after him. Perhaps someone else knows more on this subject.....

Awesome video! When 'outsiders' ask what Scotland looks like when I'm travelling, I always show them this.. it always leaves them mystified! Also, I will be posting up some videos in a few weeks/months of interviews with foreign people and what they think of Scotland, might be worth checking out! ;) Thanks, and hope you don't mind the slight advertisement! ;O
