A lot of comments seem to be about Scots (Gaellic) heritage. This is simple. If the sound of the pipes makes ye wannna dance, sing, cry and fight all at the same time, guess what? Your soul's Scots!!

The Gael has always been one of my favorite pieces of music, (but not because I am of Scottish decent), and this rendition is certainly very inspirational. It does not inspire me to "want to go to war"...because I am already in one. It inspires me to not give up.

I've discovered in my research that one of my 4xG-grandfathers was a Scotsman who immigrated to Argentina with the British Invasion of the early 1800's, but decided he liked it there and stayed. He was born into the remnants of Clan Spalding of Ashintully, in Perthshire, after they supported the Jacobite cause and were persecuted for it. Nowadays, Spalding descendants are all over the world! And, while I only recently discovered my Scottish roots, I echo a sentiment that many others here have already shared: The sound of the bagpipes has moved my soul since the first time I ever heard them. The bagpipes are my favorite instrument. Long live The Freedom Guard!

I always knew from the time I was a very small girl that I had Scots ancestry because I would cry (not from sadness but a kind of homesickness) everytime I heard bagpipes and a fondness for tartans. Years later, I found out I am a descendant of Simon Fraser. I think there is a genetic memory in all of us. God Bless Scotland! I Am Ready!

Julie Machnik I can completely agree with you. I have either Irish or Scotish decent in my blood as well, which explains why St. Patrick's Day is my favourite holiday.

I honestly think there is something very real about genetic memory Julie. The pipes touch the deepest reaches of my soul where they inspire an almost religious reverence for the history and heritage of my family. Like you, I have known of my Scottish ancestry most of my life but wasn't aware until years later that my 21st G. Grandfather Sir Robert Comyn, and his Nephew - Sir John "The Red" Comyn, were both murdered by Robert the Bruce in 1306. Despite the pain of knowing that, and what I see as the genetic memory of it, I had to learn to let it go for obvious reasons. As you said, God Bless Scotland! Our family like so many, lost a prominant Comyn cousin at Bannockburn as well.

Do these people still survive in the current population YES . Recently some human bones were found in cave near Cheddar Somerset(county) England. DNA was taken and a close match was found in the village. The bones were around 8000 years old . Who is a Briton (celt) Saxon or Viking again recent studies have found the DNA to be so close its hard to tell which is which?

AS we know Hawkeye and the last of the Mohicans was written by J Fennimore Cooper .It is a fiction especially when it comes to LAST Mohican . Those of the tribe alive today would be very surprised to that they do not exist. Hawkeye the character was a Yankee a Yangee(British/English) a name from the Dutch settlers given to the ENGLISH Yan- Yannies Yan-co translated from the very common English Christian name of the time. JOHN- johnnies. The Campbell's although you would never think from the film script were massive allies of the English/British crown. Rewarded with land rewarded and titles many times for such loyalty. Furthermore lest its forgotten the British including the English Scots Welsh Irish. Decisively WON the 7 years war depicted the movie .WITHOUT which the now United States would have found France in control of the continent west of the Appalachian mountains

the term "yankees" comes from the Dutch "Jan-Kees." when the Dutch occupied what is now New York Harbor and environs. The Dutch were Europe's cheese makers, and they transferred their skills to the New World. The common name for males was "Jan"---combined with "Kees" gives us "Yankees."

What is the general consensus regarding sovereignty? I get mixed vibes about people actually wanting to surrender to a foreign rule. I am highly skeptical of people in power in lands that are not of the motherland wishing to erase nations and ultimately cultures. To be replaced by some super state with no real identity.
