    Love this! Stuck on one part though (completely noob question here), but how do you get that quick menu where you can select "Separate/Join"? Menu can be seen at at this 0:56 mark. Thanks!

    I've always used bezier curves to create the shape for my pipes, never thought about using vertices for it. Thanks!

    When extruding around the pipe at 0:29, is there a way to not get confused with the perspective? Like, for the extrusion to only touch the surface of the pipe.

    Thanks for these tips!! One thing i notice when you're modelling is that in the viewport your models have this look on them with the white edges and I guess Ambient Occlusion? How do you get those white edges?

    This was fast.. had to use .5 speed :) TY for this.. quick question, at the very end when you're separting the cables out 1 by 1 using proportional editing... how do you get the move tool to move only that one tiny wire? Mine always move the entire bundle.

    Too bad we can't see the keys you press. at 1:00, you select only the edges. how do you do that without selecting all the mesh ?

    in the top left is a small group of buttons, those are the select modes, it has 3 modes, Vertices, faces, and edges, they should have little decals on them so you'll be able to tell (note the buttons are right under File, Edit, window etc tabs)

    While in edge select mode, CTRL+ALT+left click to perform select ring function, and then SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+left click on the rest of the segments

    Its a real shame that you don't use software to display which keys you are using, especially at the end of the tutorial when your are splitting and editing the individual cables. I can't tell what you are doing so I can't replicate it :/

    He's not doing anything too fancy! So all he's just selecting an edge and using the move tool (shortcut G) and then moving them around freely/rotating them. And how he's getting a large area to move around he has proportional editing turned on (should be at the top of your workspace in the centre, it's a little circle symbol) and then just to the right of that symbol there's a drop down menu which I think by default looks like a smooth A or mountain peak, click on that to bring down the options and click "Connected Only". That way you move around anything inside your "sphere" (mouse wheel up and down to increase/decrease the size of said sphere) and it'll only effect the individual tube you're selecting, despite it being part of a larger mesh! Okay LOOKS like a lot of info but I swear it's v straightforward haha. Just turn on Proportional editing> Connected only> G to move/S to scale/R to rotate.

    Cick on proportional editing at the top and select 'connected only' use rotate and move, scroll to increase radius of effect, if it doesnt work it may because the circle starts at about 1m radius and you need to adjust it to fir the scale your using :)

    hmm.. my cable ends up being egg-shaped when looking at the crossection near a bend :/ any ideas what I'm doing wrong? edit: had to apply all transforms before converting to curve :D

    Applying all transforms while it was still a curve worked for me. You just have to be in object mode for the option to pop up. Thought I'd mention this as I was working with curves rather than with an object that you convert to a curve. Thanks for commenting this btw! I was very confused.

    Super video !! I only have the problem that the Faces Extrude does not work (Timestamp 0:24). For me, it only increases in one direction, not evenly in all directions. Does anyone have an idea what this can be ?

    1:06 see that blue box (top middle screen) ? Turn it on and press the small box next to it, then enable "connected only" :). This is called proportional editing.

    @@passivestar Thank you so much for the answer! I get that part now but now when I move one wire with 'g' it moves all the wires beside the one I move unlike you can move each individual wires separately even though the G circle is much bigger than mine.
