Qué pasó amigo. I have been plumbing for about 3 years now, and have finally decided to apply for local 421. I’ve been watching KZread, trying to soak in as much advice and pro tips for the trade as I can and came across your channel. You have inspired me to keep pushing forward towards my goals to becoming a journeyman welder. Congrats on getting accepted into the program, and for sticking with it.

Great vid as always! I know I’m probably reiterating what your co workers most likely mentioned, but to unplug/take out the battery before you change any blade to any power tool. I stress this because I’ve seen pics of a guy’s hand who didn’t follow that rule. It was mainly because he was inpatient trying to rush. Working with a clear, yet alert mindset is so important. Moving quickly is important too, but never at the expense of your own safety. I know you’re doing your thing out there, be safe bro!.....do y’all use Milwaukee power tools out there? Just curious...

Zach Tooley ask yourself why do you wanna be a fitter, because that question may pop up in your interview. Watch plenty of Pipefitters videos like Shawn’s, so that you can generate some questions to ask your interviewer(make that your homework). Doing this shows you have genuine interest in the trade, and will leave an impression, and above ALL.....show up early with a positive attitude! Good luck!

Thanks, guys! I will definitely be doing some homework. I’ve been watching a lot of videos about the trade and this is something I really want to do. I love seeing your progress in the trade, Shawn. Keep pushin’, brother!

You get paid half the journeyman scale when you start but gradually get raises as you go further along in your training. So to answer your question it depends on your location what you will get paid starting out.
