Pigeons on deep litter. The good parts and the bad parts! Pigeon racing update for my loft.

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Have a look what happened when I started taking the deep litter out!
Thanks for the comments, advice and support recently, it means a lot.
You'll see a massive difference in the pigeon loft, I have no doubt.

I race pigeons in New Zealand. Last year I did the same thing as you did. It affected my breeding season. First two rounds babies all died in four days. Then I medicated whole birds step by step. Later I won three big race, 580k, 780k, 1080k, two of them were very hard race under 1000m/m. Hope you get something from mistakes. All the best.

Try a blow torch it will kill all the harmful things in your loft quicker. GOOD LUCK. HOPE THEY GET BETTER SOON. 🌟💯👍

It's funny I took the easibed out of half my young bird loft after the race today. It was so dusty and like you I have bags of it. I've hoovered that section out, next section tomorrow and I'll never use it again. Back to a bit of sand changed weekly.

Yeah I know what you mean. I may use a little bit of Easi-Bed in nests and on perches but that's it. It's good stuff in small quantities!

My dad always used sand, sometime mixed with sawdust, as soaks up loose droppings and is easier to clean out (not so much floor scraping needed). Made my tanner much easier to earn lol

Hope everything gets better from now on and if there’s no more races I’m happy to still follow next year and have you thought about limestone dust for the floor it will kill anything around I used it when my loft was poorly back in the day help dry the droppings as well fingers crossed

Yeah I'm looking at all sorts of different floor dressings, I'll get there, I think it'll be a plan floor with some loft white down, maybe some kiln dried sand. Next year I have some great plans to follow the old birds and some young bird competitions as well but need to get the birds right first before we start looking too far ahead.

@@racingpigeonworld8879 hi John,I hope you're birds get better, you have put alot of work in with the training.i haven't raced for 20 years , but I used to burn the loft with a burning torch to kill all the bacteria then I'd scrap all the floors and spread lime on them.seem to work john

It hit u just at the wrong time. By the time u build them back up + the moult. Season over for you I think. Give them a couple of 50 mile chucks when they're right and they'll be fine for next year....

Looking at these birds mate I dont think your close to being over the issue it takes 3 or 4 days for this sickness to go through then 7 to 10 days to get them right your birds still look ill
