Racing Pigeon Problems | Fat Greedy Birds?

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The young racing pigeons flew longer today but they wouldn't trap at all. They've been so overfed. That's changing. I'm going to focus on their feeding regime and trap training again for the next week or so.

That’s how they release their tension after flying. Perfect normal for this on a hot day

I didn't know that thanks. Is that normal after just 2 or 3 minutes of flying?

Id suggest you take 3 days to get them on 1 tablespoon per bird of feed irrespective of what you feeding for now, then i would basket them up and leave the basket 10 feet from loft facing the trap, then have someone open the basket as you whistle from inside the loft with repeat this over 7 days daily and you will have very good trapping from them mate

They look like they’ve got the start of YBS (one starting to vomit on the loft roof) first thing I always looked for when birds not responding to me was that they had the onset of YOUNG BIRD SICKNESS.

I don't think it's vomiting. This particular bird has been like this for a week but no vomiting or runny droppings. It literally looks like it's out of breath. I'll keep an eye out for the dreaded young bird sickness though

@@angrybrit7331 all my YBS went through within a week or so of each other and I never added any…… if ever I did have something I thought I wanted a bit later I let it out with old hens until it could fly the sky out then it went in with them.If you keep doing this then the older ones just keep coming back as they know the younger ones are at the loft #futile

Don't feed yb to much at once, keep them on the very hungry side. Feed 3 times a day but little amount at a time. The birds won't tobe dropping at your feet every time you go in

Unfortunately I can only feed once a day when I get back from work. I was definitely overfeeding so since cutting back and changing they're flying and trapping much better 👍

If you whistle everytime you give them food, then they will recognize that as a call. When you got them out and want them in, make your whistle and they will be good at trapping. It works as long as you dont feed them before flying!

Yeah I've always done that. I shake the tin too. It's always worked until recently. I'm pretty sure it's down to too much food so I'm hoping the changes I've made will fix it 🤞
