He did the charter, not the social media guidelines, the actual BBC charter that's the contract between us the license fee payer and the BBC, clearly states all BBC employees (he can say he's freelanced but that doesn't matter for a start he should be on an actual contract given the amount of work he does for them through each year) in journalism and news have to be impartial, ALONG with the high profile stars of the BBC. There is no one more high profile than their top paid star. He is the face of the BBC. The charter also states the BBC and staff have to be unifying, how is what he said unifying? It divided the country. If I were I'd go and read the charter, go and understand what it is you're legally obliged to pay for to simply watch live TV.

It's true. He's a bit jumpy and a narcissist which he tends to hide well. Notice when he's giving one-on-one interviews, he moves his feet and mouth like he has a nervous twitch, and interrupts people constantly.

Labour never had anyone in the BBC that donated to them or ran as a councillor then? As for Lineker those agreeing with Lineker's right to say it are fools. We shouldn't have to pay for him when he's saying such things and being so divisive. He should be on a contract aswell given he gets regular work with the country, these loopholes some in media are using are getting them cheaper tax rates it's not on.

Lineker should have been sacked. MOTD was apparently much better when only football was shown. A show with 2 million viewers is not 'one of the BBC's best shows'.

All the BBC has to do is give a standard response that ‘the views and opinions expressed by presenters outside of BBC broadcasting are not reflective of the views of the BBC’ or some such and there is no conflict. By taking the stance of disciplining Gary Lineker for his Tweet, they exposed themselves as taking a stance on the issues he raised and thus breaching their own impartiality rules.

👍 Good interview and an added bonus to see Tice get in such a pickle.

When people start calling other people Nazi especially when you have a platform, it is not a good look. When you are hired to a big company, a very influential company and what you have said is highly inflammatory, it does not make the company look good. Especially hired by a company like the BBC which is supposed to be impartial. The company has every right to suspend you. Lets be honest, the only reason BBC rehired Gary so soon is because they need him to commentate because everyone else went on strike and not because he was within his rights.

People still are paying for the Licence. If you don't there are many things that you cannot watch...The BBC should not be used as a platform for him to discredit or use inflammatory language. People need to remember that the BBC have got rid of people for far less. By all means say what he wants,but not on the publics money. If he were to say something the left disagreed with, they would be calling for him to be sacked.With Gary tweeting what he did, means the BBC are complicit.

Morgan compares to Sugar, Clarkson and Neil - slight difference, whilst all those were faces of the national broadcasters, I don't recall any of them calling the majority of the TV license payers racist. The BBC Guidelines are guidelines. They are not clear and, so far as I know, there have been many instances of other people, including earlier opinions expressed by Lineker himself on his private social media site, expressing political views for which even one reprimand appears ever to have been given. We presume, but do not know for certain, that Lineker himself was party to the contract pursuant to which the company which employs him agreed to provide his services. Even if he directly agreed to follow the BBC’s guidelines he would be deemed to be the weaker party so any contractual terms that were not very clear would be construed against the stronger party, namely the BBC. It is very unlikely therefore that he would be held in breach.

Let's see where Piers is flip-flopping today. I'm quite sure he goes on twitter, reads the most popular comments, and then he'll adopt that position. That's how it feels. He's hypocritical. A non-Muslim said that the Quran was full of evil, and he lost it. Then another non-Muslim went in and said EXACTLY THE SAME. The only difference was, this woman claimed to be an "ex Muslim" which - if you're of that religion, you'd know there are no "ex Muslims" - and he sat calmly and listened. So the same conversation. But he'd only listen to a brown girl.

What this saga has done is make it impossible for a large section of society to keep spouting the falsehood that the ‘BBC is left wing’. That long standing, hackneyed charge has been completely demolished. You only have to look at the board and all their news editors to see what they align with. I’m surprised but impressed by Morgan’s stance on this.

No it hasn't. The left are anti free speech. They tried to shut down Linekers free speech. If showing political bias is supposed to be against their policy, they done what they thought was right. Especially since tweets are seen by the world. The felt they had to act on it... then gave in to him and changed their mind. Lineker is left wing. If BBC were right wing, he wouldn't be there. Never mind change policy to suit him. Everyone is worried about a millionaire losing a shift over this. But nothing was made of the guy who was arrested for tweeting something similar. Infact he shared it from a tweet put out by another British celebrity. It was only the working class man who was arrested.

And without the Nazis we wouldn't have morphine, rockets & jet engines. Your point is totally irrelevant. Secondly the BBC didn't punish him or find that he broke the guidelines. If you don't have conclusive proof that someone DID NOT break the law for example, you cannot assume that they did break it. You have to prove the guilt not the innocence. They might not have accepted that he didn't breach them but they didn't accept that he did breach them either.

Also, necessity & chance gave us all those innovations, not individuals or groups, as is always the case; the journey had started well before. Like Lineker, Piers and Miller are almost only concerned to make as much cash as they can. Piers needs to recognise when Linaker, Sugar, Sir Attenborough are on they represent the BBC as agents thereof. Look up the Agents responsibility - they speak for the principle. Their contracts must reflect that and consequences must follow as THE LICENCE FEE IS A LEGA COMPUNCTION, hence you cannot have both. End the licence fee fir Breach Government. Do it tomorrow please.
