I grew exotic hot peppers for about ten years (in the summer of 2010 I had 240 pepper plants of about fifty different varieties) and when you grow something in your garden you always end up tasting it, and I got to where I was eating an orange habanero with a sandwich for lunch three or four times a week, plus I was eating lots of hot peppers in recipes, and I think I gave myself irritable bowel syndrome by eating all that hot stuff for so many years. I finally healed up but it took some doing, having mainly to do with following the IBS diet. I hope this helps someone.

I did a two batches of ghost pepper eggs before I saw this video. I used fresh eggs from my chicken and never got full flavor penetration. The difference was that I never poked mine with a toothpick. The outside was hot, but that was about it. I also kept mine refrigerated.

As a suggestion: I steam my hard cooked eggs. Start the water and eggs at the same time, when the steam appears, cook for 13 minutes, then off to cold water until the eggs are cold. Easy way to peel them (in one piece) works for day old eggs as well. All the best from central Arkansas!

I have yard eggs, my process for getting easy peeling eggs is a bit controversial to some but it works for me. I let the eggs sit on the counter for a week or more, put eggs in pot with 1 tsp of baking soda per 6 eggs and top with already hot water, put on stove and allow to come to a full boil, turn off heat and allow to sit for 10-15 mins before dumping hot water and running cold water over them for another 10 mins or let sit over night. They peel decently, just having an issue getting them to soak up the heat of the brine when pickling!

Liquids can only dissolve so much salt or sugar for example. So once it has hit that said level it won't dissolve anymore, that's why there was so much salt left in the bottom.

I made some pickled eggs last night, I saw the Carolina Reaper peppers in our local Tesco, so I bought a pack. Not until today did I realise these pack a bit of a kick, and I’m starting to worry that my eggs will put the Nando’s extra hot sauce to shame. I had heard the name before and the pack said super hot, so I used 1 fresh large C/ Reaper pepper and one Habanero pepper, garlic, onion and salt to a quart jar. That wait for the first taste test is a killer!

I would heat all for your pickling salt. pickling spice and vinegar on the stove to it boils then pour it over your eggs when it cools a little. Leave everything just like you have it, maybe less salt. You for got to say Pepper Corns. Try making some with Franks Red Hot, you will have to heat all of it on the stove. Be Safe.

If you have store bought eggs. put the eggs in cold water and bring to a boil then shut them off and let them cool. If you follow this way you'll never have problems peelin' 'eggs again:)

I know it's an old video, but I just finished a jar of pickled eggs I started about a month ago. I didn't have reaper peppers, but I did use a hot sauce made of reapers (Reaper Squeezins, about a tablespoon), 3 tablespoons of ghost pepper powder, 24 habaneros, and a big dump of red chili flakes (besides the other flavors). I was pretty disappointed at how little heat actually made it into the eggs. The vinegar is just too lethal to capsaicin, I think. I've decided it's better just to save the peppers to make a hotsauce to put on the pickled eggs later. Thoughts?

  • @rollinghomesteadandwildedi4204

Thanks for watching, Did you run a tooth pick through the eggs? This helps to get more heat in the eggs. After making this video I tried my eggs 1 month later and they where not that hot so I let them set another month, They had a little heat after that. The last batch I made I put 10 Reapers cut up in there and I used the same jar of Vinegar and spices I heard that it helps. This summer I'm going to try fresh Reapers and see if they get it hot. You are right, any time you use Vinegar, you have to double or triple up on the peppers if you are pickling anything. I like my stuff Hot. Most people can't eat my HOT HOT pickled food. Hope this helps, Take care and God Bless
