I was afraid of the opposite : the original version could be not as good as this one. But I listened to the The Supremes' version, and I agree with you : I find it as good as this version, it was already very rhythmic and dancing. I love both versions.

Phil Collins w w/ a superb remake! The Holidays of '82 this was the hit.

Still remember my dear mom, played this every morning to get me up and ready. She hit that volume way up high the neighbors could heard it. She didn't care just up, sing, dance a little, fix breakfast, made the bed, ready the whole team. All with this record at the background. Miss you mom

But you guys must also mention that this song is just a cover, it's not him who delivered the song, just the vocals (which are great by the way). The original is by "The Supremes". Know there is are also great artists today who deliver covers of great songs. So if you speak about creativity you can't compare Phil to today's artist based on this cover. Also today there is much more music, and also good music out there, but you have to search for it, it doesn't automatically come to you via radio and tv because FAME nowadays comes with Image or Sex. And rappers can mumble or only say one word an be famous, as long as they know the right people, have the most gangsta attitude or look weird and extraordinary.

Maybe someone among you will know : at 1:31 while he's singing "thes precious words keep me hanging on", Phil Collins points at the sky. In the original version, The Supremes sing "these precious words keepS me...", making a grammatical mistake if I'm right (I'm French). So maybe a, now deceased, friend of Phil Collins was annoyed by this mistake and was often telling him about that ? And Phil Collins is making a tribute/homage/salute to his late friend ?

Very much so. In the 80s phil collins was as big as any music artist. Still love him, even though hes been redundant for the last decade.

This song is literally the story of my life. No matter how much I want to be loved and appreciated, every woman says no and passes me by and I get more and more frustrated. But no matter how much I want it, I have to remember there's someone out there for everyone and I just have to wait.
