It's really impressive how Peter Pig managed to capture the unique look of each general historically even in a scale so small. You can distinctly see the difference for instance between Burnside's slouch hat vs. Joe Hooker's slouch hat. That's tough to do in that small of a scale but they managed to pull it off. Pretty cool!

Yep they’re pretty good all in all, I’ll definitely be ordering more soon. I’ve actually ordered extra Wave 3 metal generals from Warlord to convert, and picked up another pack of each of the limited edition resin ones via ebay to do the same - so I’m probably sorted for generals really now 😂
Awesome video thankyou! Going to have to grab my boy longstreet from my local PP supplier!

Thank you for watching 😊 They’re awesome minis for supplementing the range.
Nice looking figures, splendid generals!

I was pretty impressed
wow great idea thanks for showing these. Never thought peter pig would be suitable but your video shows they can clearly work as individual commanders.

Yep I’m pretty happy with them, don’t think I’ll stretch to the rest of the range as the size difference would stand out more, but for commanders they’re very useful.
Peter Pig do a wonderful range of 15mm figures.

Very happy with mine, they were a perfect way to add variety to my Epic ACW army generals.
Many mounts- presumably not those of senior officers- were basically ponies. This was specially true of the USCT cavalry. We must also remember that mules were used alongside horses in the Western Theatre. In other words some small amounts may well be realistic.

Completely missed this comment way back when I posted the video. That’s really interesting thank you, certainly changes perspective on scales of horses on models.
thank you i was wondering about how they match up

The mounted models are slightly bigger, but definitely a decent option.
Thanks for posting this and comparing the three ranges. Peter Pig produce some lovely clean, well sculpted miniatures in 15mmm for ACW especially the General (apart from the union general Kilpatrick, awful sculpted horse) they obviously are a tad bigger and bulkier but in the same way kallistra minis do not jar you can reasonably mix and match to good effect. Only downside for PP is the costs, £3.50 for 8 foot models or 4 cavalry makes even a standard regiment relatively expensive and so for basic troops probably rules them out. However I will be using a selection of their generals and AC/DC , APC, ACD (whatever it is lol) for my commanders as they are cost effective against the warlord prices and better sculpts than kallistra's offering - Burnside and George Thomas are especially good.

Yep you’ve nailed it there really, perfect for Generals, but price for the rest doesn’t make the a viable alternative really. I’m definitely going to pick up more packs of Generals.
Wow, so this really surprised me! I didn't think they would be as close as they are. This size comparison really solidifies and confirms the Epic scale as being about 13.5mm, since the 12mm Kallistra stuff is slightly smaller and the 15mm Peter Pig stuff is slightly larger. But it's cool that it seems like you could actually use these side by side and it wouldn't be as drastic as I first assumed it might be. Thanks for the video!

Yep totally agree, I’m sure I saw some images of infantry (and maybe Cav) compared before, and wrote them off as too big. Then someone shared pictures of the Generals and it looked quite good. They’re clearly slightly chunkier, but I prefer this to the tiny Kalistra horses, and the quality of the sculpts is clearly better.
I love these command figures and the scale was great $$ was right as well great video 👍👍

Thank you. Couldn’t resist putting one out there, even though the comparisons have been well shared in forums and FB groups.
They do look crisp. Not much cleaning up to do. I don’t know much about ACW but did generals have pennants? I could see a pennant for Corps HQ.

They definitely had HQ flags of some kind, I have to do a bit of research each time though, my knowledge is strong enough with flags.
The Kallistra figures may be a little small but they are much cheaper

True, they’re pretty good value.
Great look at the alternatives. I have no problem with my command stands being a bit larger than the rank and file. Larger than life characters after all!

Exactly, I’m less inclined to mix them in with units, but as command stands they’re great.
Damn you and your awesome videos!!! Now I need to spend some money on Peter Pig!!!!

😂 I genuinely love the release so much that I love doing videos for it. They’ve been very kind in providing me with review sprues throughout November and December, then sent my order a little early for review (I paid for my boxes), so I’ve been more than rewarded for doing videos. Have you decided what you’d like to/going to get?
I wonder how Freikorps figures might compare to the new Warlord. I have many Peter Pig figures (though not ACW) and many ACW Freikorps. The latter are slightly smaller than Peter Pig, so might be an even closer match.

Oh that sounds really interesting, would love to see a comparison. The name rings a bell from years back, but I can’t find a company now, are they now a defunct business?

@@MiniatureRealms It was to say that Freikorps are now sold by QRF and I gave a link to the website but it's easy to find. I've just fished some figures out for comparison and the Freikorps horses look a little bigger than Peter Pig whilst standing figures are the other way around, so I have probably given you a red herring - sorry.

I really don’t like these metal figures. They look really untidy and lacking detail compared to plastic or resin figures. That’s what had put me off using these or kallistra figures to add to my collection. The warlord figures might well cost more but look better from what I’ve seen so far!

I totally know where you’re coming from, I’m very much a collector and painter first, and that often results in me going for more expensive miniatures if they’re nicer. I definitely felt that way about Kalistra, I’m much happier with these though. By You can see the difference between the (what I assume are) digital sculpts of Warlord, and the more traditional approach of the smaller companies. I’m definitely going to use a few of these, but I’ve been converting up the plastic commanders, have just ordered extra metal wave 3 generals from Warlord, and picked up extra resin limited edition ones via eBay (all to convert), so I’m hoping to be well covered either way.
