    Use plastic liquid cement on the heads after youve snipped them it will smooth out the rough bits. You can also use the cement to get rid of mould lines at this scale instead of scraping them off.

    More great looking units. As for US Regulars wearing dark blue trousers, I can’t find any references in my books. There are several illustrations of militia and volunteer units in full dark blue, but none for the Regulars. That said, it rings a bell somewhere, I just can’t place a reference.

    Great as usual. I love this project and it always makes me want to paint my own guys. I need to simplify my painting to crank them out. Your results are incredible, I would never guess that you do it in so few steps. I will say that your volume was a little lower than usual on this video, but it wasn't a problem.

    @@leont66wargaming31 I am impressed you do everything on your phone. Content looks great either way. The audio isn't bad, it's just a lot lower than normal. I'm currently painting Confederates with contrasts and I am hating it lol. Mainly hating the straps. I keep thinking of doing early war regiments so I can do Grey jackets and light blue trousers lol.

    @Quickslvr_Gaming yes the straps are the worst part aren’t they lol. I’ve mixed up my confederates, done a few early war. Even done a couple of regiments all in grey. I’m going to do half my forces in mixed uniforms, half in grey. Contrast paints are not a bad way to go, I just don’t have that many of them lol.

    You could add any number of Union Rgts in all blue. Many militia units that were incorporated into regular units began with dark blue trousers, such as the 22nd NY, Vermont Bde Rgts, 4th Michigan, etc (source: Uniforms of the ACW, P. Haythornwaithe.) Many early ACW Rgts continued to wear all dark blue for some period of time after the regulation light blue trousers were issued, so you can paint up all dark blue as you wish. Have fun, and be well.

  • @leont66wargaming31

    Excellent. Thank you Bruce, I’ll start to mix in a few regiments of militia. I’ll leave the hats on them as well rather giving them all Kepis. It’ll give them a less regulation feel and I can field them as green troops which will be easier to recognise on the battlefield.

    Thanks Leon, very helpful, my little beggars are taking ages, but I have been painting jackets, trousers and shoes individually, so swiping the brush across them is quite a revelation for me. My Pike and Shotte arrived today, so i have more of a need for more efficient painting. By the way, is that right, you don’t use a primer, but rather go straight on with the base coat? Has that caused any problem, presumably not and do you seal with a matt varnish anyway?

  • @leont66wargaming31

    @leont66wargaming31

    10 ай бұрын

    Thanks buddy. I used to paint them all individually as well but it was just taking too long lol. Just be careful when you do the quick paint of the trousers and remember you can always go over any bad mistakes. I always tend to undercoat in the base colour, it just saves time later on. I never bother to varnish plastics, they don’t chip and I try to pick them up by the bases after they’re all finished. Metal miniatures are different. I always undercoat them. The couple of metal minis I used here got 2 coats instead of one
