    My friends cat had to be declawed. There was something wrong with them in the way they've always grown since birth. The back claws weren't that bad, but the front ones were bad. I don't remember the whole story, but it was the claws or the paws. They didn't want her to lose her little paws so the claws had to go. She's really happy thankfully and never had any use for them anyways.

    Same, mainly because ive seen them hunt mice before and i KNOW they will hunt my dragon, but also because spyro is feisty, bit my dog for sniffing him once (knew dog was fine, dog had cuddled rats before the dragon was brought in.) But one day, I walk into the room, and our black cat, (who likes to sit next to the dragons lights) is IN THE TANK....CUDDLING THE LIZARD. It was very startling and strange, both of them, snuggled up on eachother and everything, enjoying the warm lights, she even groomed the lizard, and he made the same face as when i pet him. Obviously i removed the cat and fixed the tank...especially because she also used his sand box as a litter box (our beardie likes to dig so when we took him out of a sand substrate tank, we gave him a box of sand to dig in) Just goes to show, sometimes, animals can get along. I mean, i was a child when my moms dog would kill my escaped pet rats, untill the one she cuddled with in the hallway, and i still dont understand this random cuddling shit, why animals do you do me a scare like this.

She’s not declawed and is only allowed around them when I have at least one hand free and am close enough to stop anything bad! I’ve been thinking about getting a rat, but my sister has a hamster and the cat wants to eat it just a tiny bit so I think I probably shouldn’t...

    All it takes is one swipe, both the monitor and cat is a danger to each other, either one of the other can be the aggressor, definitely, the cat has a bigger advantage if its with a smaller lizard like a bearded dragon. The monitor can definetly just grab the cat by its neck and do the death shake.

  • @krissyalbertson253
    @krissyalbertson2535 жыл бұрын

    My only critique is your inaccurate reading of cat body language. I completely agree with you that it is not a good idea to put cats with lizards. Cats are solitary animals and traditionally don't enjoy being around any animals, especially not their own prey. However, the orange cat with the bearded dragon. That cat was not clawing. Cats have retractable claws, and that cats were fully retracted those were relaxed, or what I like to refer to as "soft paws". if a cat is lightly biting at something with soft paws, it is a playful action. The fact that the cat also rolled over and exposed his belly and throat to the lizard is a sign that the cat is feeling playful. It was trying to coax the lizard into playing with it. now, that is in and of itself dangerous because a cat playing is not going to be fun for a bearded dragon. a lot of people assume the cats are really simple and easy pets because they're so common, but there is actually a lot that goes into properly caring for a cat, and cats have incredibly unique psychology about them. the gray matter of their brains is the same structure as a human's, which indicates that they actually have the same breadth of emotion that humans do. In summary: cats are awesome, but not with lizards.

Animals can't perceive "sex" the same way we do, "we" f*ck because people have pleasure on it, or want to release their stress, or want to have some passionate time with their significant other, because they probably desires a family, etc. There's no comparison at all

    I'll advocate for claw caps forever. They're significantly less traumatic for the cat. If your cat absolutely won't let you apply claw caps, then try behavioral training techniques instead. Also amputating an entire segment of bone is more difficult to recover from than a spay or neuter surgery, which is also _very_ different from human procreation because humans have access to sex ed and birth control options. Pets don't, unfortunately.

    I hate the obsession with mixing pet species. It’s a risk that’s so not worth taking for my own enjoyment! Even mixing rodents can be deadly but I see it often on the internet. Most animals are a danger to one another. Period. If you want to mix pets, raising cats and dogs together is your best bet. It’s just not worth the “awww” moment when your animals hurt each other!

    That's my cat with my hamster. He would spend hours just watching her and comes complaining to me when she doesn't get up fast enough (she's getting old so she's not as active) but I know for a fact that he'll eat her if he gets his paws on her. I had a complete scare one day when I somehow forgot to clasp one of the doors of my hamster's bincage before going to sleep and woke up to hamster screaming. The cat had managed to get into my room (he can open doors) somehow catch the hamster from a very small hole (I know the hamster couldn't get out of that little trap door since it's in the top of the bin and she can't get to it) and had her in his mouth. Thankfully my cat is well trained so the moment I said stop and sit down, he did and put the hamster on my outstretched hand. The hamster was taken the vet the next day and thankfully got a clean bill of health. No damage was done. But that was the biggest scare of my life. Now I padlock all the trap doors and lock my room with a key if I'm not in it just in case something bad happens. The hamster may very much hate me (she never got totally tame) but I love her and she is my responsibility to take care off and put her out of danger. This was thankfully an accident that didn't end badly but it could have very much been if I didn't hear screaming and wake up just in time.

    something you didn't mention about letting cats interact with lizards (or...really any small animal): cat's saliva (possibly all mammal's saliva but i'm not 100% sure on that) contains a compound that is deadly to many small animals. the video of the cat licking the lizard is particularly horrifying with that in mind...

    I pride myself as a pet owner and I love my animals to death. But cats around lizards, CAN be unpredictable. I keep my cat away from my bedroom where my beardie is. One day she got in, and pulled my lizard out of his tank. I never thought she'd do something like that. My beardie was lost and I was going crazy. Ended up finding him and I make sure my cat steers clear of my bedroom. I take good care of my pets. This was the first bad thing that's ever happened. I wasn't putting the two together in the first place. Don't place your cats with lizards. (My beardie is totally okay, the vet said he was perfectly fine when we found him!!)
