As a rat owner it’s really poignant to me how people put value on some animals over others. People do horrible things to domestic rats and I constantly get people who see my profile picture and leave a comment like “I will kill you pet rat” on totally unrelated posts. If you replaced domestic rats with dogs people would freak out in defense of the dog. I wish people would respect all pets. Feral dogs and cats get more love than domestic rats. Sorry for the rants but I wish all pets were equal. Life is life

I guess the small comfort I take in it is advanced warning that a person is a jerk I don’t want in my life. I think it takes a special kind of messed up to say bad things about a person’s pet, especially to a kid

it’s like people forget that even small animals or labelled “dumb” animals feel anxiety and can get hurt easily. it’s not funny to treat them this way. also can we note how david said “a flying squirrel”? a sugar glider is NOT a squirrel. it’s a possum. i also find it highly unfair that foreign countries/ citizens are allowed to have australian native animals and can easily get one and just treat it like shit. instead of putting them down, send them back to where they’re meant to be. australia. we aren’t allowed to have them as pets in my state for obvious reasons so it’s highly unfair that america is allowed them in some states for “pranks” and without a licence. they are not supposed to be a pet nor should they be a pet.

I get nervous about buying a new type of fish and y’all up here surprising people with sugar gliders.

Every time I buy a new animal, I get scared I haven’t researched enough. I know how to care for them and I’m sure what I’m doing is safe, but I always get so paranoid. Sugar gliders are expensive and super complex to care for. I just got a pair from a lady on Craigslist (she had surgery and had to give them up because she couldn’t put in the time anymore and was very good at spoiling them) and although I did as much research as I could, I was scared I was going to kill them or something.

The Skunk, in particular, its common knowledge they have bad eyesight and rely on their smell and hearing a lot and prefer dark cosy places. Taking it place to place for people to scream at it, in the middle of the day - its just causing it so much stress. Even one well used to people would be confused by the whole thing. He is stressing these animals out, and jeopardising their welfare for entertainment. He knows people are going to scream at these animals. People rarely stop to think the effect screaming has on animals

Laurensji though that is incredibly true. And it's still wrong to use an animal as a prank. I owned a pet skunk.. and even if I would have banged pots and pans next to him, I doubt he'd have flinched. For some reason my skunk just didn't give a fuck about loud noises. If anything he'd search it out and fuck with whatever made that noise. Usually a safety gate that fell over. (Or that his fat ass knocked over)..

Though.. in another sense.. alot of those "obnoxious type" youtubers have high pitched ennoying screams that can literally sterilize someone..

For the sugar glider, gabbie had to give it away to a caring person with another sugarvglider and it is getting properly cared for, just so you know and don't worry about it

I think tarantulas are pretty scary, but I also think putting one in harms way for the sake of entertainment is wrong. Our culture doesn't promote respect for all life and that's pretty sad. It's also scary to realize that anyone can get access to animals and treat them however they like without any regard for the animals' feelings. I personally don't think this guy seems very funny. I can't imagine doing this and filming it and just laughing... but I guess humor is subjective.

I really don’t understand how they planned these situations and didn’t even once think that it’s a terrifying or dangerous situation for the animals involved. And if they did think that, they clearly didn’t care. It’s insane to me how irresponsible and disrespectful you have to be to deliberately disregard the safety of animals you’re responsible for.

I am scared of spiders but I've fallen down a huge tarantula hole lately and been subscribed to a lot of T channels and binge watching the last 3 months, and that part was really really hard to watch! I understand their reactions just as you pointed out, but that's why this shouldn't have happened in the first place! Especially if that's a female T, they can get like 25 years old!! I'm honestly surprised how well that T behaved with that stress! Poor thing.

As a guinea pig keeper wich is part of the rat family watching David put 200 rats together in a small box pisses me off rats should not be cared like THIS! There very under rated animals :(

@@rp101aquatics6 There are terms for all the different colorations of rats, but even a domesticated agouti is still a fancy rat. I get that you're saying that she wants a coloration that isn't agouti (the standard coloration of wild rats).

The one that really got me was the 'releasing rats into the apartment' one... Like really?? There's already a stigma about rodents being pests in apartments and are often banned by the complex owners. Rat/mice infestations can easily get out of hand and can cause massive damage to the internal wiring and piping throughout your house. Not to mention, getting ALL of those rats back in the box to return them to whatever pet stores they bought them from would be nearly impossible. It just seems very irresponsible to me only for the shock value of a stupid video..

Kelly Tromans I don't have rats but I have had many hamsters who are so skittish and get scared really easily and rats probably are similar I just don't understand the thought process of 'I'm gonna adopt some rats who are scared already from moving into a new environment and put them in rooms and people will scream at them'

Volleyball Girl how are they a "professional animal caretaker" if theyre allowing the animal to be put in extremely stressful situations?

After seeing Davids vlogs awhile back, all he does is scream and prank which honestly is rotten content. And seeing now how Brian handled playlist live while David was there, taking over his animals & using them to scare people...we have an issue with using animals as shock factors for peoples videos/thumbnails. When Logan Paul did some shitty stuff with animals, the internet went after him. So how come no one is addressing David here except for you? So thank you for speaking out against this. KZread should be doing its job better. Animal neglect is everywhere online in these stupid videos and people are getting paid to do them which isn't right.

this irritated me to no end. I have no idea how he thought this was okay to do with these innocent animals.

It actually doesn't even have to be a big fall to harm a tarantula. Our older one fell about 7 inches from the roof of her tank onto her hide and it split her abdomen. We knew what to do, of course, and she was fine her next molt, but these guys wouldn't know anything about it. Doing whole days of violently stressing out these animals is honestly cruel. Like yeah, they're not directly killing them, but they're putting them in situations where they COULD die. Pranks with animals can work, but they have to be already handle trained and it has to be fast. You have to know the person you're pranking isn't going to react by smashing them or throwing them or harming them.

Omg the rats are so scared.... this is seriously frustrating to me. Im angered with the ignorance and disrespect of these beautiful creatures....

shay I have had 5 rats in total but I currently only have 2 and they are amazing pets. I have lost 3 of my boys and it doesn’t get easier, but their short lifespans shouldn’t deter you from owning them- it’s not about how long they have with you, it’s about the quality of that time they have with you.

The way they shoved that alligator is so disturbing . You definitely don’t need to over justify making this video it’s a weak way of getting view to deliberately stress of these animals . I had 4 rescue rats for years and year . They are amazing little creatures . The fact that they were piled in a bucket is so sad

I'm cuddling with one of my rat boys while watching this. It is incredible how much love ratties have in their tiny hearts. They deserve nothing but the best. Rats are scared of new situation and so much stress can absolutely traumatize them. Also, I'm scared of spiders, but watching this tarantula being abused like this was heartbreaking.

Take it from exotic lairs: Tarantulas are like water balloons.

The worst part is they mentioned the tarantulas owner at the beginning and he was there the whole time

As someone who studies the behaviour and welfare of animals, watching these so called "pranks" is heartbreaking. Especially after knowing, like you mentioned, that many of them can die from stress and from high falls. The alligator can build up lactic acid from stress, when it reaches high levels, they will die. Hundreds of studies have shown the intelligence and high cognitive abilities of rats, putting them in a situation like that is just ignorant and stupid - you can see them congregate to the sides of the room to hide - something rats do when stressed, they avoid open areas and the middle of rooms/enclosures. Honestly, this physically hurts to watch. I don't believe they understand how this negatively effects the animals, so I believe people need educating on the adverse effects of such situations to avoid them happening again, rather than this being a witch-hunt. Sorry, I rambled on a bit XD

I think the worst thing about these videos is that when you actually comment that it's heartbreaking and awful to stress these animals out, people that watch these for entertainment completely dismiss you and say it's meant to be funny and "who cares they're just animals" and instead be really hateful. I find that even more sad :( Sad to see David would do this.

Keep in mind an “animal handler” is with him the whole time. In my opinion, the handler is at fault too because he is allowing David to do this with his animals. Edit: Wow I never thought my comment would get this much attention, I’d have to agree the living conditions of the animals are not the greatest, along with the amount of breeding that goes on. However I’m not very knowledgeable or experienced with snakes but I know that like every other animal, they can get stressed out. What David’s doing is disappointing to me and I’m even more disappointed in the handlers. I understand they need money and they have to do what they gotta do but it doesn’t justify their actions and doesn’t change the fact that they know that they could be harming the animal yet continue to do it.

I like watching David's vlogs, and I have to agree I've always seen the animal scares in poor taste; I'm glad you made this video. Very impressive to see you kept your composure during the whole video, and you're being informative of why these scenes are problimatic; instead of just lashing out in anger.

Leopard Gecko Brian clearly trusted him to do it. Not to mention, Brian would have immediately taken it off of him if any harm was being caused. Brian loves his animals to much to even think about putting them in harms way. But I do see your point though.

Jenna Maryott If you want to see david’s vlogs without supporting this behavior, watch jason nash. Thats what i’ve been doing. You’ll realize how obnoxious david and his friends screaming is when you watch jason, he’s so calm.

I commented on the skunk one and got so much hate. Like skunks don’t like loud noises! The poor animal. And all David’s fans were super rude about it. “It’s fine.” 😑😑

That isn't necessarily true about the scent glands. The surgery to have them removed is actually considered cosmetic and banned in other countries. Idk the laws in every state so this one probably does have them removed, but it's really an unnecessary procedure. i.e. I'd you want to have a skunk don't stress it into spraying and you won't need them removed

Thank you so so much for these kinds of videos. It’s really nice to know that there are people out there who actually care about these poor animals. You really are a good person, and that’s hard to come by these days.

I really don't like that lots of big youtubers take advantage of animals for views... i wish there were more big youtubers that spread animal awareness and treated them like living things that have hearts and are intelligent

My boyfriend and I almost got a sugar glider but five minutes of research convinced us not to. They really are amazing animals but definitely not a pet that's easy to care for. Gifting pets is like impulse buying pets, both are wrong.

I'm so upset especially for the ratties. I'm biased cause I'm a rat lady but the poor things were probably so terrified, getting dumped out and all the screaming. :( My girls hate loud noises.

I Pet Zombies Honestly, pretty sure every animals hating screaming and it stresses them all out. 😨 if someone value animals that badly and can easily hurt them, they would need just a lil bit of a push to hurt humans aswell.

Giselle R. You tube needs a lot of waking up to do with these type of people. They need kicked off for animal abuse. I've seen people in my area on the news going to jail for stuff like this. I'm so pissed at this video of Tyler showing what this guy did I'm literally sick from it. I ran a recure out of my home for 6 years until I couldn't do it anymore because of health issues I've seen and been in some pretty bad situations with people and animals and this is not acceptable. You tube needs to step in and do something about it before I turn him in.

If I saw 200 rats in my house I’d be like “HOLY SH- ....What is this? A RAT OMG CAN I KEEP IT?!!?!!!??”

I don't hate spiders, but I'm TERRIFIED of them. Whenever I see a spider at my place, or just anywhere near me, I freak the fuck out. I start shaking and breathing heavily and I can't even look at it, much less come near it. I can't control it and I'm not sure where I got it from, because no-one in my family is afraid of spiders or insects (and I'm afraid of them all). I understand that they won't hurt me or anything (my country doesn't really have poisonous spiders), but I just can't help it.

Clearly they don't have any regard for their neighbors either. The walls in apartment buildings are paper-thin!

Confessions of an Aspie I actually thought she did pretty well in controlling herself to not scrape the tarantula off of her pants or legs, but instead asking them for help. Her arms are up like she is trying to control that urge even though she really wants it off.

Exactly. I handed my snake to my sister while I cleaned his cage and I expected her to handle him correctly like I had taught her too. She took my snake and put it next to my moms face from behind. My mom was a couple of inches away from hitting my snake out of my sisters hand. I was not mad at my mom because I had been working with her to get over her fear and I know it was an instinct for her to try and hit him. I was extremely mad at my sister for putting my snake on danger and for scaring my mom and reversing the work we had done to help her get over her fear.

Here from trishas insta story.. Love your video and thoughtfulness to speak out on this. I always had these thoughts when watching his videos involving animals.. the SHRIEKING all of the people do when they see the animal always made me so so so furious because even though I don’t know much about handling these unusual animals it’s obvious you shouldn’t be stressing an animal out with screaming in its face.
