When Presence first came out, a lot of Zep fans back from the beginning panned the album. Heck, they were getting panned from all directions, not the least of which was Rolling Stone magazine. I didn't really "discover" them until 1975, so I had this insatiable thirst for anything Led Zeppelin did. I thought Presence was masterful myself, and the thrill of hearing Nobodys Fault on the radio made it one of my first of many favorite Led Zeppelin songs!

I just wished they gave credit to the artists who they derived songs from, like this one. Technically first recorded in 1927 and credited to Blind Willie Johnson, but only to Page and Plant on the record, it would have served them better that at least they should have gave an inspiration credit to Johnson. Led Zep had a bad habit of doing this; there are at least 25 songs of theirs that can be traced to other artists, many of which they were sued and settled over.
@stormy8207

@@jamesscully529 That is probably true and it is unfortunate. They should have been more vigorous in accreditation. On the other hand, what they take is an idea because what they do with it completely transforms the original. Plant was somewhat of a musical historian, fascinated by all kinds of stuff. Many modern musicians sample their music so turn around comes around I guess. And if they hadn't done these covers we would have missed out on a number of masterpieces. But that does not excuse their neglect.
*The mighty mighty Led Zeppelin* Does it get any better? No not much!!!!! One of the best rock bands EVER PERIOD!!!!! The best. Not one of the best. 😎
What I love most about Led Zeppelin is that they were the ultimate BAND. All four were equals -- four master musicians and none could be replaced. That's why they didn't even consider going on after Bonham died. I think that is pretty much unique.
Nobody could use silence in a song like Zeppelin. They use it like another instrument.

I am so glad that younger generations are discoverying Led Zeppelin. Quality music should never disapear. Too young meself, I discovered them in the early 80ties. I see a lot of great artists on the wall behind you, that makes me happy. It all started from the blues and Jazz with giants like Coltrain B.B. King and Muddy Waters. Led Zeppeling was also inspired with this particular song by Blind Willie Johnson. Cheers from Switzerland!

Try "When The Levee Breaks" and "You Shook Me" for some more great Robert Plant harmonica. Also; Bring it On Home Black Country Woman Custard Pie ...and one or two others. Mothership is a "best of" album released in 2007. Nobody's Fault is from Presence, Whole Lotta Love is from Zeppelin II, and Stairway to Heaven is from Zeppelin IV which is a contender for best Zeppelin album of all time (though Zep I and II are way up there for me too). The guitar in the intro and in the breaks is apparently double tracked, each with a phaser effect out of phase with each other. With a single guitar I think a flanger gets closer to the sound.. That harp (harmonica) has some overdrive and reverb on it. The harp in When The Levee Breaks also has some reverse echo. Love it when Robert wails on that blues harp. Led Zep were really good at using various effects in a way that integrated with and enhanced the music rather than sounding like a gimmick.
Zeppelin runs all over the Rock spectrum with creativity and talent but never leaves the deep Blues base that they breed their music from.
The bass and drums are absolutely amazing on this song!
You guys should do You Shook Me by Led Zeppelin next.
Going To California is a very mellow almost a ballard song if you wanted a different Zeppelin feel.
I love that people are discovering just how magical Zeppelin was. 😎
Robert Plant is doing most of this album from a wheelchair because of a very serious car crash. They were close to amputating this leg...Album was recorded in less than a month.
The Presence album is incredibly underrated - every single song is a banger. 'Tea for One' is the final song off this 7th album - it's almost never mentioned in Led Zep conversations, but I guarantee it will blow your socks off!
The harmonica drop in this song is the baddest in rock 'n' roll.
“When The Levee Breaks” is another featuring great harp by Robert!
Thanks for reacting to this song, it's a terrific rocker that really showcases the greatness of each band member. Great reaction 🎉

The very best of the very best. Dangerous song to play when you're driving.
By all accounts this album was recorded in about two weeks total. No synth or keyboard, guitars, bass, drums, voice. Raw and direct, no wasted effort, just pure rock.
There are no bad Led Zeppelin songs. Dig a little deeper.. Songs like "Achilles Last Stand" and "Four Sticks" should be on your list. Also, John Paul Jones is burning that bass up on this song!

At first, I didn't remember which song this was, but then when that opening riff started, I remembered it. Back in the seventies, the rock stations pretty much played every Led Zeppelin song there was at one time or another, and this 1976 song was definitely among them. I did notice that you could tell it was from a later album because Plant's voice sounded different than in the early years.

Can't go wrong with Led Zeppelin! Thank Ya'll
"Mothership" is a recent compilation album. The album this song comes from is "Presence", which was released in 1977. It had these odd photos on the cover that looked like they were from 1950's ads, except that each of them included this ominous black monolith that looked a lot like the one in "2001: A Space Odyssey". Great album, with some of their best work on it. (Zeppelin's stuff is best understood in the context of the original albums.)
Kick ass somy!! You should see it live!! Robert on that harmonica!

This is one of those songs where every single member puts out 100% of their talent and it all comes together perfectly, no one steps on anyone else’s toes or eclipses the other. So when you hear this level and quality of musicians just going at it with everything they have got and just shredding in perfect sync with each other it’s something else.

They got their start as what we now know as acid blues. Hard rock versions of the songs that inspired them as kids. In England after WWII, there wasn't much for kids to do, they studied old american blues and then the rock and roll pioneers of the 50's.
