    The common misconception about this song is that Plant wrote it for his late son. While he laments the loss of his son in this song, Plant is singing it to/for his wife, Maureen. Plant had a very difficult time forgiving himself for being on tour while his son was dying (the seriousness of the infection was misdiagnosed). His grief affected his marriage. This song is Plant telling his wife that she and their marriage are his priority and he is past chasing the feather in the wind (his late son): "Should I fall out of love My fire in the night To chase a feather in the wind?"

    Karac Plant died in 1977, and just a few years later, Zeppelin played this song live in their 1980 European Tour. It's hard to imagine the emotion running thru Robert as he sang this tribute....losing a young son. It's remarkable. Beautiful track.

    From the 1979 album, "In Through The Out Door". It was written in honor of Robert Plant's son Karac, 5, who died from a stomach virus during the 1977 tour of North America. This is one of two Zeppelin's songs that Jimmy Page took no part in writing. Slower, sadder song dealing with the loss of his son. Great tune, with great instruments. Great reaction. @@oreally8605 you are wrong, the bible says "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him." It doesn't say P.S except for Catholics, Mormons etc. It doesn't say "must be Christian to qualify" it says you will be saved. The bible also says "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." As far as organized religion goes, a good portion of the book of Revelations is Christ condemning man for putting organized religion above Christ's teachings.

    “THE FEATHER IN THE WIND” is Robert’s 5-year-old son who died while he was touring, causing him to consider dropping out of the band. His wife said no, and he wrote All of My Love instead.

  • @sjw5797
    @sjw5797 Жыл бұрын

    The band was on tour when Robert Plant's five-year-old son died, suddenly, of a stomach infection. As often happens when a couple suffer the loss of a child, Plant and his wife grew apart. He realized he didn't want to lose her, and wrote this song to say, He'll always be a part of us, but it's time to move ahead together, because I still love you and miss you. The song is not directly about their son (the "feather in the wind" that he's been chasing, in his grief) so much as it's about their marriage. Plant and his wife did stay together, and had another child.

    Until 1982 when they divorced. They have remained friends. I think she just did not wish to deal any longer with him being gone on tour all the time. She and Robert had had a new son, Logan, born in 1979, but after Zeppelin ceased in 1980, by 1982 Plant made the decision to give himself totally to building his new solo career. He was still driven to pursue his art, and she saw the same pattern repeating itself of being left alone to raise a young child. Robert hadn’t been there when Karac died, and that left a scar. That’s is just my surmise. Not based on anything I’ve read or heard.

I was barely into my teens and being raised in a relatively conservative home I had heard some Zeppelin songs but was off put by the seemingly wild look and sound emanating from the radio when they were played. But this song allowed me to buy my first Zeppelin album and well, from then on Led Zeppelin dominated much of my music listening time. And then I heard Kashmir and that was is, I then bought everything they produced. I will always love this song because it allowed me to discover the power and magic of Led Zeppelin.

    Yes the lyrics were written about Plants son who had passed away. This was a weird time in Zeppelin history... Page was deep into drug addiction, John passes away right after the completion of the album and this album doesn’t happen without the brilliance of John Paul Jones! He basically wrote almost all the music to this album. A lot of the guitar parts all of the bass and keyboards. He was always the most talented under appreciated man in Zeppelin in my opinion.

    A beautiful song dedicated to Robert Plant's son, Karac, who died when he was 5. Plant also did a song during his solo career that was a tribute to his son. Very sad but very beautiful.

    Even though this was released in '79, Led Zeppelin was in heavy rotation in the 80s on my local rock station. Sounds of my youth, lots of crusing, hanging out in the parking lot with friends and up to no damn good. Lol

    A very sad poetic song in which Robert is mourning the death of his small son. One of the most emotional - and best! - songs in their catalogue. It is a late progressive Zep piece recorded at ABBAs Polar Studios in Stockholm.

    Look at my girl throwing out props to Bonham and Jones! I remember you kids starting your music journey. You didn't recognize band names, much less songs or musicians. You're all grow'd up now and are really turning into aficionados. During this era of music, fans knew the names of all the musicians in their favorite bands, and we could tell you the all the previous bands they'd been in during their performing years. Jimmy Page? Came from the Yardbirds. Peter Frampton? Came from Humble Pie. Robin Trower? Came from Procol Harum. Jimi Hendrix? Came from Heaven (not a band; the actual Heaven). Etc. Think of your favorite songs since the year 2000 and tell me if you can name a single musician on that song. Love you guys and what you're doing. And love reliving my youth vicariously through you.

    This is Top 5 Led Zepp for me too, I love the imagery, but just the depth of loss and trying to salvage what's left after losing a child, trying to reconnect with his wife, it's very deep and then the music is phenomenal accompaniment, like Bonham & Jones knew they had to bring it for this one.

    At this point in their career Bonzo and Page were really dealing with addiction so Plant and John Paul Jones were the driving forces with the album In through the out door. Mothership is a greatest hits album. Paul below very nicely explained that this was to Plant's wife after the death of Karac. This album was sold in a brown paper wrapper, once you took the paper off you could find out which of the four album covers you got.

    Mothership is a compilation Album. Songs chosen by surviving members of Led Zeppelin (Plant, Page and Jones) representing the best of all the studio albums. As John Bonham was well loved by the guys in the band, it should not be a big surprise to see him prominently represented on the album.

    "All My Love" is the sixth song on Led Zeppelin's 1979 album In Through the Out Door. Credited to Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, it is a rock ballad that features a synthesizer solo by Jones. It was written in honour of Plant's son Karac, who died while Led Zeppelin were on their 1977 North American tour. "All My Love" is one of only two Led Zeppelin songs that Jimmy Page had no part in writing (the other being "South Bound Saurez", also from In Through the Out Door). The album came in a brown paper bag sleeve that is actually part of the album.

    When it came to rock and roll drummers...the debate of who was the best always came down to two. Neal Peart of Rush and & John Bonhom of Led Zeppelin. And you couldn't really pick between those two because they were so different. Neal Paart was so technical. And John Bonham was so creative. Thank you for this song. You guys always do a great reaction.
