I guess you had to be there. The album was not well received upon release. It was a bleak time in NYC (where I grew up) in the mid-70s, and the album itself is dark, brooding and a definite change in tone for Zeppelin. Add to that the fact that the band was going through a rough patch at the time, and you have a recipe for a less than happy album. Perspective is everything, and I do notice a ton of revisionist history where Presence is concerned.

One of my favorite Zep albums. I like For Your Life. Although these songs don't sound like pure blues, they really channel the spirit of the blues more than any other white artists.

This album is their most underrated and is chock full of badassery. Plant really rocks that harmonica as hard as anyone. So glad you guys kept going…..and please include the live covert album Song Remains the Same in your journey! It has so many iconic live versions: You already did TSRTS/ Rain Song and just the solo from Stairway but you must do the full song, along with a crazy 26 minute Dazed and Confused, stellar version of No Quarter, a phenomenal and very bluesy Since I’ve Been Loving You, a Whole Lotta Live medley that is just an amazing jam session. They really show their almost telepathic improvisational skills on the whole record/ concert. Please include that as part of their canon. You guys rock, love all your reactions. As a Zeppelin fan for many, many years, I also urge you, *please* don't listen to the people who will tell you not to react to the next album, "In Through The Out Door." It's a different kind of Zep album in many ways, but it's brilliant. It doesn't rock as hard as their other albums, but it's still great, and *very* worthy of a reaction. "Carouselambra" is amazing!

Plant kicking everyone's ass from a wheelchair with a harmonica. Imagine what he would do standing up. I grew up outside of DC near Andrews AFB. When this first came on the air in Spring of 76, I pulled over because new Zeppelin on the radio required my full attention. When Jimmy Page came in with that sonic guitar intro, I thought the F-18's were taking off from Andrews. And then the onslaught continued as you just heard. It was that powerful.

@@markiec8914 It was tough to get information in those days before internet. But apparently he and his wife, daughter and Page's daughter went off a steep turn on the Greek island of Rhodes while on vacation. Maureen Plant was almost killed and had to be airlifted back to London for transfusions. Plant suffered a dislocated ankle, which was reinjured during the recording of Presence when he tore his Achilles tendon after falling over speaker wires in the studio while on crutches. Thus the song Achilles Last Stand, which tells the story of being "in sandy lands on holiday" and so on. Unfortunately the rest of the album was recorded while he was wheelchair bound with this leg up. Remarkable vocal performance under duress.

This is a reworking of the song by Blind Willie Johnson. I absolutely adore this song. I love the drop at the end of the guitar parts that start the song, where it seems to bottom out and expand before pulling back up. This is another great Zep-style blues; it's got a punch and snap and the guitar solo sounds bright and sharp. People forget about this album more often than not, so I'm glad you decided to continue without getting sidetracked by doing live stuff or any other Zep peripheral material.

This album was created during a difficult time for the band. There were more difficult times to come, as many Zep fanatics know. Newer generations were getting tired of big bands at the time, giving birth to the punk scene. Plant sang most of the album while in a wheelchair (Achilles Last Stand aka "The Wheelchair Song"). Drink and "other stuff" began taking it's toll on at least 2 members...😢 They had Peter Grant, but Jimmy was the boss and having his hand in everything was quite the exhausting task. HOWEVER...this album gets no where near the attention the previous recordings do/did. A shame because it is them at an amazing level, despite the distractions. ❤ You guys do a great job on your reaction videos. But I so eagerly await your Led Zeppelin reactions. Over the years, this has become one of my top 10 solos by Jimmy Page. It’s not the flashiest, but it’s so beautifully paced and constructed, swinging and tight, subtly psychedelic with that intro (played by bending the strings BEHIND the nut!), adding some trademark “sloppy” runs, then sliding right back into an amazingly tasty bending lick that both elevates the song into the finale, and leaves space for Bonzo’s incredible drumming. Brilliant.

Quick story; I bought the Presence CD right when it came out and took it over to a friend's house who had the most high-end stereo system I've ever seen…massive speakers and all the associated gear. We put it on and during Nobody's Fault But Mine we had it cranked when suddenly during Jimmy's solo one of the speakers cut out. We shut everything off to check it out, and the fuse in the back of the speaker had blown. And not just the fuse's little metal filament was broken, but the glass case that the filament was in had shattered. Such is the power of Led Zeppelin.

It's a good video to see some brothers appreciating Zeppelin. When I was in the service, I got introduced to hip hop like NWA, Tupac, and West Side Connection, and I got my buddies turned on to bands like Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Lynyrd Skynyrd but Zeppelin is still the greatest rock band of all time hands down. Their music is as raw as it gets

By far one of their best songs imo. Often overlooked (by "mainstream") but definitely just another banger song! Also a bad album (by critics) when, imo, is just another incredible piece of art!

Btw. I saw zeppelin in Dallas 1974. $6. Floor seats. Big promotion on the light show. Light bulbs going off in sequence. Best concert ever (after srv shows)

even though everything in this song is top notch.. the silent counts is what i get most impressed about, every time i listen. it’s like almost falling off a cliff and then you grab on at the last second. brilliance

This song was first recorded by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927. The harmonica on this Zeppelin version is played by Robert Plant, Keith Harwood was the recording engineer and mix engineer. Another outstanding track, people who say Presence wasn't a good record are completely lost in the sauce.

I've been a Led fan for 30 something years. played their music in my band, and it still hits hard all these years later. Love it hope you do In Through The Out Door too, as a big JPJ fan who played his parts that's definitely his album

Killer riff, killer bass, killer drop bombing ass drums, one of the best displays of harmonica in a blue's rocking song... But those pauses though... Say so much, without saying anything... OMG... Banger through and through. Great reaction as usual guys, thanks for keeping it real.

I find it interesting that so many people find it necessary to try to defend their position as to why they like or dislike this album or attack others for the same thing. Everyone has their own opinion. Why the need to be convinced that your opinion is the only one that’s relevant or correct? Great track and reaction La & Che. ✌️
