This video was filmed at “The Wayfarers Chapel” in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. It was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Jr. (son of famed architect Frank, Sr.), and opened in the early 1950’s. It recently closed, indefinitely - about two weeks ago - due to landslides and “significant” land movement in the area. A ‘Go Fund Me’ page has been set up for donations to offset damages.

I was just about to post the location. I'm from Long Beach, about 15 miles SE along the coast, and used to drive through RPV on my way to King's Harbor, Torrance, to catch the bike path up to Venice - at least twice a week. I am saddened to learn of Wayfarer's closure, but am not surprised given SoCal's recent weather, and the crustal fault lines that run throughout Cali, but particularly on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Portuguese Bend being notorious for multiple closures annually. Mega mega wealthy area, but the earth's innards don't really care about the skin.

I love hearing Mitch in his lower register. He has such a beautiful voice.

To hear more of Matt and hear him in his element, please listen to “Kiss from a Rose”, and, even though Xmas is past, do “O Holy Night”. Matt is not Avi and vice verse. Matt first appeared in “ The Sound of Silence” cover. And when you start making your Christmas list of songs, please include PTX’s “12 Days of Christmas”. Matt’s playful side really comes out. Avi now has a channel on KZread. I can’t remember the name, but you might drop in there to hear him again. Thanks.

Can't wait for Creep! We all miss Avi, but Matt is an exceptional replacement! Matt is so talented and charismatic. He fits well into the group.

Great reaction. Matt was a fantastic replacement for Avi. They are both stupendous in different ways. Avi has that incredible basso profundo deep bass voice, but Matt has an unusually wide range for a bass so can go really high too. Also, personality-wise he fits in so well with the group and this year will have been with PTX for longer than Avi was as he joined when Avi left in 2017. Lots of people miss Avi but I figure we wouldn't habe had Avi's brilliant solo career if he hadn't left PTX and Matt is fantastic and has such a good relationship with the whole band and works brilliantly with Kevin. He particularly stands out for me in their recent Kiss from a rose and 'Oh holy night' covers. He's also great as the lead in 'Mr Grinch' too. When i saw them live last May in London, Matt was so much fun!

There quite a few newer songs with Matt having a verse in or partial lead: You're A Mean One Mr Grinch ( Matt is the lead and it's awesome!), O Holy Night, Kiss From A Rose, Sound of Silence, Prayers for This World.

Back in 2017 I wasn't really on KZread, or any other social media platforms. I watched PTX on the sing off. And while I had seen some of their songs after) I didn't follow the changes they were going through. I first saw them live around Christmas of 2017. I remember thinking at that live show, who is this new guy and where is avi? I found out the answers to both much later. But there is no denying that the show was absolutely amazing with Matt🥰 there is no comparison. But they are both amazing in their own rights. Completely different levels, but equally just as amazing stars❤ If I had to break it down, I would say that Avi is the better talent. But, imo, Matt is the better fit for the group

Matt’s been with the group since 2017. You reviewed The Prayer in Aug 2023 which had Matt. Also, live performances have less of chance in getting taken down.

TX for this. Here you can already hear that Matt has a lot of range. You are one of the few that pick up what Mitch can do with his voice with the " o Mazing Grace" and yes Kirstie shines here. We Pentaholics so love reactions to this amazing group. Greetings from South Africa

Lol Nick I think you forgot that you've seen Matt before a couple times he was in the very first Pentatonix that you reacted to " Sound of silence" and he was also singing in "the prayer " and "Please santa please".

Matt Sallee (last name pronounced Suh-LEE). His voice, especially in the lower range, has been improving with time/age. Basses often don't develop fully until 30 or so, and he is the youngest member of the group at this point. He has a different sound than Avi did (choral rather than operatic), but I think his personality and and musical skills fit the group perfectly.

Nick, you don’t say what kind of music you like in an intro. Assuming (?) you enjoy music vids, I could suggest a fair number in a variety of genres and from many decades (that Spring chicken flew the coop a long time ago). So Spill! (Even though I’m a classically trained musician, I’ve always enjoyed slumming around. 😁) I looked for a general comments area over in your Nick Reacts channel and there wasn’t one in Community-I didn’t want to tack this on to something unrelated so I’ll tack it on to my own message. Three movie recommendations. First, best Romantic movie. Moonstruck. Second, Historical Drama: Gandhi. Third, Fantasy Adventure/Romance: The Princess Bride. These are some of the best of the best.

Just beautiful.

If you listen to their Sound of silence you can really begin to appreciate Matt.

He's already done Sound of Silence - it was his first reaction to PTX. He has seen a number of ones with Matt in but I think he filmed this a while ago and it only just got through copyright.

Wayfarers' Chapel...

California continues to adjust to the always changing climate. The NEWS showed the Chappell and all the benches covered to protect what they can. The spokesman said the grounds are a mess with cracks everywhere. Matt and his wife considered it for their wedding but chose another location. They were married in January 2022 with their Pentatonix family there. He announced last month that he is going to be a Daddy. I don't mention their spouces' names, but everything is on KZread. Kevin's traditional African wedding includes Matt, Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch.
